      Well, I have an NB miata with a six speed and the same rear end ratio... My complaint is this: First gear is too short, and 2nd gear doesn't quite get you to 60mph. Does it matter? Not a whole lot, but if you are going to compare 0-60 times, having to make a shift into 3rd gear just to make it to 60mph is kinda a bummer. Basically what everyone wishes they had is a standard Miata 5-speed gear ratio but with a taller 6th gear. If I recall the recipe for getting that is a 6 speed with a 3.3 gearset. I plan on doing something similar to that when I upgrade to the BMW 6 speed from kMiata.

      @@slandon1977 I also have an NB and I could not care less that 2nd tops out at 55. You aren't going to impress ANYONE with a Miata's 0-60 even if 2nd was tall enough. It's far better to have it pull as hard as it can rather than unoptimized gearing for 0-60 time

      As an owner of a Mazda 2 (Demio, 2008 Fiesta) and also have driven an 2000 MPV and a 2018 Mazda 3. All I can say it's that they're really good cars, the only thing is: That is horrible to do repairs on the V6 MPV. That thing is so
      crammed inside that you have to dismantle the entire thing just to change spark plugs.

      I totally agree! We have Mazda 3 here in Philippines, a 2015 model and it still runs like new. The fit and finish is tight, the interior is beautiful, and they even offer it with free 3yrs of PMS! Great value for money! The only thing i dont want is that there is no manual option for mazda models here in ph except for the manual mx5. But the handling and driving experience is great!

    I am the loving owner of a 2004 Mazdaspeed Miata; steel gray model. It's a magnificent roadster.
    In the 3 yrs I've owned this car I've put over 70k miles including two extended road trips around Lake Champlain, up to Montreal, through the Adirondacks, over to Niagara Falls, and even did a few (controlled) laps at Watkins Glen. And many 100-200 mile day trips. It goes in the barn in Winter before the salt goes on the roads, and emerges in the Spring ready to zoom.
    This car just wants to go. All it asks for is 93 octane gas, and Mobil 1 5w-30 every 5k miles.
    I had to get rid of the 17" wheels. I couldn't avoid all the potholes.
    I put on 15 x 7.5 Advanti wheels and shod them with Dunlop Direzza DZ 102 tires , 205-50-15R.
    I also upgraded to a bigger, aluminum radiator, and very soon a nice, somewhat operetic, stainless steel muffler/tail pipe will be arriving FedEx.
    I will drive this car until it dies or I do, and as it looks now, it will out-live me.

    Personally, I like both the exterior and interior on the NB much better than the NA (we won't even mention the NC here). I like the ND too, but not $40K worth. I finally found a perfect 2004 Mazdaspeed Miata (with the grand touring package), and Jakub is absolutely right - it's pretty much the perfect Miata - totally worth double what I paid for my 2001 Miata LS a few years ago.

    • @johntechwriter
      @johntechwriter 4 года назад

      Not many people know this, but early NAs offered steering with no power assistance. I drove one and wish I had it in my ND.
      The ND's electric steering is very good,ntjough. it's heavily assisted when going slow, and numb, but when you're motoring in the twisties it keeps you informed of the slip angles of the front wheels (and NOT about the pot holes), helping you to achieve a glorious four-wheer drift, as did the F1 cars in the early 1960s.

    They need a whole new series of Mazdaspeed cars. i hate that they abandoned them, my Mazdaspeed 3 was a beast. Took me spending over $8 grand on my WRX to get it to the same 1/4 mile time my MPS3 had with just a downpipe, up pipe, intake, exhaust and flash tune. And my Mazda speed 3 had like 100 LESS HP, it's power band was just so big and acceleration so smooth.
    A Mazdaspeed 6 on their current chassis, stiffer suspension, stickier tires and 350HP would be SO beast. And with the new MX-5 being an absolute CHAMP around corners, making a 200-250hp MPS variation would be SUCH an amazing sportscar. What are you DOING Mazda, you had the most underrated performance cars and you threw it all away

    Just letting you know that there was another turbo MX5. Several years before the 'mazdaspeed' MX5 was released, Mazda Australia commissioned Prodrive to turbocharge 100 NB MX5s. The Mazda MX5 SP (what Mazda Aus called it) had 157kw (210hp) and 289nm (213ftlb) of torque. There is conjecture on whether this prompted Mazda Japan to turbocharge the NB and release the Mazda MX5 SE (as it was called outside North America).

Got the Lava Orange which several people have commented on. "What color is THAT"? Keeping ours forever. Nice video! As an owner of a 2001 6-speed Miata for 6 years, it hurts to hear how much better the newest one is :'(. I'm not sure if THAT many people hate the second gen, but the Mazdaspeed Miata specifically isn't really fondly remembered to Miata people. Horrible turbo lag, meh horsepower and torque improvement, and not much faster. Plus they didn't use the then- new VVT engine with the turbo for some reason in this car. In Japan, the VVT engine had better flowing intake and exhaust manifolds that made 160ps/158hp. I personally prefer the n/a engine of this generation over the Mazdaspeed Miata. In fairness, good aftermarket turbo kits have very little lag. Stuff like roll bars and strurt tower bars make a huge difference in stiffness too. I recently moved deep into Houston and have never had more fun driving my car. Driving it in the city helps you understand how small Japanese sports cars are meant to be driven.

    Great video and I love the MSM too... I have four Miata's total right now, 2 MSMs; a 2005 Lava Orange w/ 38k miles, and a 2004 Velocity Red w/43k miles. I bought the VR first, but wanted the LO more, and eventually found one, so now the VR must be sold. :(

    7:10 as a miata owner... just wanna note that the gas thing doesnt matter since its upwards and u can reach from both sides... just a perk for us miata owners at the gas station.. dont have to wait or go in reverse... just pull the hose over.

    Turbo lag is the time between hitting the pedal and boost kicking in. What you are referring to is high turbo threshold (the turbo hits peak boost at high RPMs).

      One of their Patreon perks gets you early access to their vids as they finish editing them. The guys worked really hard this summer to film and edit a lot of their reviews so they could take two-ish week’s off, so we got about 4-6 videos released really early throughout the last two months!

      Yes, everyone likes pop-up headlights including me but NA is bulbous and it's pop-ups are too big for the rest of the car. It's not really good looking. NB is way sharper but still very smooth lines.

    To add: There are cosmetically and mechanically 4 generations of NB:
    NB1 (no bottom fogs, round eye line, yellow turn/hazard lights), NB1.5 (exact same as nb1 except has fogs here but the bezels are rounded to match)
    NB2 (foglights with sharper bezels, sharper eye lines, taillights are a white ish pinkish red mix), and
    MAZDASPEED (basically an NB2 with more aggressive lip plus rear diffuser)

    While technically correct that it’s the only turbo miata, it is not however the only turbo mx5. Mazda Australia made a turbo NB called a “SP” and was significantly more powerful than the “SE” and it came out before the “SE”. Only 100 were made. And the SP is what influenced the SE

    I'm going to have to disagree with the gas gauge test...I think the point of the gas gauge icon with the hose on the right is so that you pull into a fueling station that matches the icon. The hose stretches from left to right so it can connect to the left side of the car. Love the videos! New subscriber :)

  • @ivanmadjer7182
    @ivanmadjer7182 6 лет назад +1

    The hose on the fuel symbol is showing what side the hose on the pump has to be on the gas station so your gas cap is right next to it. :)
