- The Mazdaspeed Miata, the one and only turbocharged Miata from the factory. Fans and enthusiasts have unsuccessfully begged Mazda to reclaim this badge and bring the people another Mazdaspeed Miata. Unfortunately this remains the only model to date. Lucky for us, Chris was kind enough to share the car with us. Rarely seen in the wild and coveted by many, make it a Mazdaspeed.

I don't live far from The Villages, FL. Great monthly car shows there, significant Corvette owners representing, but no Miata following so far.....time to start one! Great MSM review.
Thanks! Worth picking one up, can't recommend enough.
Love these cars, I own an NB2 and Love that body style.
They have great lines and the MSM package takes it to the next level.
Beautiful example. On first step to turbo charging mine, standalone ECU :)
Awesome!
Loved the reviews. I really want to add the Little enchilada package after watching you guy’s reviews.
You do have to get to about 4000 rpm’s before the turbo actually kicks in.
It would be especially sweet if more power was available at lower RPMs.
Currently she is 100% stock and in very good driver quality. It’s also a 2005 model only 1428 made. But that Little enchilada package sounds so sweet.
It felt like a perfect street car with the little enchilada kit. 10/10 would recommend.
If ever I find space for a 2nd Miata it’ll be one just like this!
I like your thinking...
they're a blast. my MSM has the little enchilada kit and factory ECU. still fun to drive in that form.
Looks phenomenal I love the mods you did, very tasteful and love my MSM with the Little Enchilada. This one is mint!
They definitely made it near perfect.
Awesome rolling shots. The red paint on the MSM is just amazing. Good to see these cars are being preserved and appreciated for what they are.
I could not get over the metal flake! Paint matching it sounds like a nightmare though.
I have a 2004 MSM as well that I've modified over the years. In addition to the mods above, I've upgraded the suspension went to much lighter wheels. I also added a 3.63 rear gearset and speedo cable that made the car much less frantic to drive. It's a great car and has been very reliable over the years.
A 3.63 would be the perfect solution for this!
Beautiful car and those smiles don't lie. Nice production.
Thanks!
That paint is beautiful!!! I didn't know Mazda ever did a 'Speed Miata until you guys mentioned it earlier this year.
Sadly, this is the only generation that got one, and for only part of the model year range.
4000 built in 2004. only red and silver available in 2004. 2005 there was 1500ish built before the assembly plant caught fire. you could get black and orange as an additional couple colors to go with the red and silver in 2005.
I always wait for that smile & laugh when anyone driver's a miata.
It’s unavoidable!
I love my msm, we got 3 bikes in the garage. It feels like the 4th bike, so tiny and compact packs a perfect punch for the twisties
Nothing beats a miata on back roads
Picking one of these up possibly this week 🤞
Nice
Great review
Thanks!
I have the little enchilada on my car .. I love it so much .. now I just need the injectors and a stand alone and I’m set .
Definitely a worthwhile upgrade!
Love to see a RUclips channel comment on all the comments. Seriously, no comment needed.
See, now I’m conflicted.
@@NappMotorsports it’s ok. Knowing you respond to everyone I know someone read this. Keep up the great work.
10:50 “I wouldn’t put more power in this car” says the guy (not a normal guy) that’s trying to push 400hp in a K swapped Miata 😉.
250hp ish is the sweet spot for a reliable, quick Miata. That normal people want to own and not have to keep on working on or paying someone to fix.
Nice review.
Comfortable summer cruiser, 250 is beautiful.
I thought it was Les Claypool from Primus when he started talking in the car.
Lol
Could've got a mini-disc player too - woot!
Lol!
I drive an NB LS but it came with all the mazdaspeed appearance packages on it so it looks turboed when it isnt lol
The MSM Tupperware is the best. Turbo or not.
@@NappMotorsports i tell people it just isnt turboed YET
Post a video on how to install a manual boost controller. Please 🤠
If the opportunity arises I will. I much prefer electronic boost solenoids to manual controllers though.
Good review and new respect for the MazdaSpeed! Would anyone be offended if I painted my 1.6 cam cover... Wrinkle Red? (Needs a new gasket anyways)
Wrinkle paint is the way! We’ll be doing a how to for wrinkle painting your VC soon!
For driving experience it seems the way to go. But I hold on to my cars for a good few years. To date I have not come across a turbo car that has done more than 50K without heat related wear/damage. Durability has to always factor in any review. For that reason alone supercharging has to be the way to go.
These are factory turbo and very reliable.
Stef said it’s the hardest pulling turbo miata at like 9:45 but he drove a 300hp built built one which makes no sense
The 300 HP Miata pulled hard, but not until much later in the RPM band. This was a constant hard pull from near idle.
Has anyone ever told you that you look like Mike Boyd?
Just had to look up who that was. I can see the resemblance between Mike & Dylan haha.
11:40 Is this a greenscreen? lol
No haha, just the way the lens makes us look in front of his garage wall 😂
All I'm thinking is God bless the great commonwealth of Pennsylvania for not requiring it. That front license plate sort of ruins the sleek, sinister glare from the front end. Otherwise, stunning car.
NY requires them too, I just leave mine off and risk the ticket.
@@NappMotorsports Mine was originally from Ohio, so it had 2 ghastly holes in it. I was overjoyed to have someone lightly reverse into me, causing enough damage to have their insurance pay for repainting the whole front end. 'The Curse' of pavement grey MSMs was oddly a blessing that day.
