On the ingredient list it contains Alcohol Denat, which is known to be drying in certain formulations. I was not attracted to Garneir’s micellar water partly because of this.

I may try this one...I don't wear mascara often but I have extra rows of lashes (it's not cute, they poke in all directions but mostly grow straight so I just get a bit more eyelid Def but they shrink my small eyes). I have to use liner at this age to get any true eye definition, and it gets trapped in the lashes, even harder to remove than mascara. I have a wonderful liner collection tho, and maybe Garnier will break it down.

@Robert you have to try the Simple Micellar water if you can find it in that UK. The one in the blue bottle (Hydro boost) is better than the original green bottle but they are both amazing. I recommend it to everyone, I won’t touch another brand for micellar water or face cleanser. It won’t sting your eyes at all, doesn’t make the skin tight, your skin just feels soft and clean. It’s so unbelievably underrated, I hear no one ever talking about it. Incredible for sensitive skin. Garnier is kind of garbage in my opinion, just not gentle on the skin and doesn’t work well.

@Dineen Serpa not the person you asked, but I also switched over from disposable to washable some time back. They were Judy purchased off of Amazon, nothing special. I picked bamboo over standard cotton as it's more sustainable and I looked at heavily at the reviews for how long the rounds held up through uses and washing etc. I also looked at the laundry instructions, as I wanted the easiest care possible. It didn't take me very long to find what I was looking for and I bought 2 sets of 20 rounds. If they get stained and that bothers you, try some Oxiclean. Took my stains out except on the threading on the edges. I wash and dry my rounds in a small delicates bag to keep them contained.

I have been wondering why my skin was so crazy dry and flaky lately... I thought it was either my NYX concealer or the Garnier water, and even though it didn't burn and I usually wash it away with regular water I had the feeling it was something alcohol-related. I still need to do some testing but by what I'm reading it might very well be the micellar water... Where I am (midwest US; city with population of one million people) I can't find Bioderma anywhere, either, and if I'm going to shop online, I'm getting a quality K- or J-beauty cleansing water rather than something like Bioderma! I've tried the water that Robert mentions as well as the Bioderma Hydrabio water, and both left me feeling a bit...greasy. Even though I use cleansing water strictly as a pre-cleanse--I never leave it on, and I always do a second cleanse--I still don't want a cleansing water that leaves me feeling less than clean. The Bioderma waters almost left the feeling on my skin of having just applied a dry oil! To be honest, I liked the few Garnier waters I've tried better than the Bioderma waters...different strokes for different folks 😋👋

However, the Bioderma Sensibio Micellar Water (green cap instead of pink) is something I do use for my lips and eyes at times and it's real good! Yes! I used to used plain coconut oil, but I'm still pretty acnegenic (even at 43 😑), so I had to find something else to use as a first cleanse. That's the *only* downside I found to using coconut oil as a first cleanse/makeup remover--it has a high number comedogenic score and it really seemed to break me out, even being on my face for only a few minutes. I really loved the way coconut oil broke down my makeup so quickly and easily, and the warmth from your skin very quickly turned it from a solid paste into a quite luxurious feeling, thin oil. A few years ago I switched to a cleansing cream by The Face Shop, and I love it.

The garnier one doesn't sting my eyes but it looks and feels less effective and leaves some sort of film behind.
Bioderma is always my choice. I highly recommend the blue/green cap one, for oily skin, to use in the morning time.

I was introduced to Bioderma back sometime between 2008-2010 by Pixiwoo (the sisters behind Real Techniques who were some of the OG beauty RUclipsrs). I found it in my local drugstore and I’ve literally been using it (the one with the pink cap called SensiBio, specifically for sensitive skin, which is the same one in this video) for literally at least 12 years. My mom uses it too. It’s literally the only micellar water I’ll use. The general public, including myself, really didn’t know what “micellar water” was back then. Most makeup removers were either those oil ones you shake up or makeup wipes. This changed the game for me. It’s one of my holy grail products. It feels, looks, smells like water but soft and soothing water that gently cleanses skin and removes a good amount of makeup, oil, and dirt without being stripping or irritating in the least.. I’m so glad you love it too, Robert. ❤️❤️❤️

I've been using Albolene. I didn't like it at first because it doesn't "melt" like a cleansing balm does. I stuck with it because it does the job, it's gentle, and it's affordable. A 12oz jar costs $20 usd and a little goes a long way. If you wear makeup daily that one jar will last you 6 months.

omg yes i hated the garnier water. i think i unfortunately swore off miscellar water entirely just because of that and switched to cleansing oil. i might pick up some of this bioderma brand to spot check oil to keep in a travel bottle.

Essano makes a nice rosewater one too. A cheaper alternative to bioderma or essano are the Pacifica ones, I've had luck with those as someone with dry skin.

i just got the walmart brand called 'equate'. i haven't tried it with makeup or sunblock, but my skin didn't freak out when i used it for a waterless cleaning. didn't sting, my skin felt nice and there was no scent

I've been using this stuff for like 10 years now, and I'll never stop using it. It's such a good product, and affordable too. One bottle lasts me a long, long time. One way to make using micellar water more eco-friendly is by using reusable cotton rounds (or better yet, bamboo or something more sustainable) that you can wash in the laundry. :)

Omg, I’ve been using the hydrating, rose water Garnier one for years and always thought it was just my cotton pads that were making my face burn. I’m definitely going to look into that other brand now. Thank you!!! Anyone use the Cerave micellar water?

I love Bioderma, another one I use constantly for lazy cleansing is the one for TonyMoly! I can't recommend the two enough. The TonyMoly one also has helped with my small breakouts and hormone breakouts. My skin always feels great when I used it.

Agreed! I’ve tried to use garnier bc it’s cheaper many times but I always end up tossing it and going back to bioderma. Not another micellar water I’d prefer over bioderma :)

I wanted to love this Bioderma micellar water, but it made my skin almost feel greasy. I never leave micellar water on, and I only use it as a 'pre-cleanse', not even for a double cleanse. I miss the I'm Unny (formerly Unny Club) micellar water that Amazon used to carry...it left my skin feeling hydrated but not greasy or oily, and clean without feeling stripped. I've tried a thousand cleansing waters, and I'm Unny always comes out above the rest.
