The pH is what really separates the two. Your skin's natural pH (acid mantle) is around 5.0 to 5.5. Anything higher will result in dryness or an uncomfortable feeling. The Garnier is very high around 7.3 while the Bioderma is around 4.5 to 5.0. That's why the Garnier feels dry or stings. Bioderma sits in a very good spot!

All micellar waters have surfactants ( cleansers/detergent) in them. That's actually what a micelle molecule is. It's a surfactant dispersed in an aqueous solution so that it forms little "balls" that take in oil so they're removed. The same cleaning principal is involved with all soaps and cleansers. Soap molecules will draw in lipids(fats, waxes), and then it's hydrophobic nature allows everything to be rinsed away. The bubbles are normal and there will be more or less depending on the concentration of each product and which surfactants they chose to use. Oftentimes Hexylene glycol and/or poloxamer. Micellar water is basically just gentle cleanser in water. I love using them, but it's not as fancy as the name implies.

I'm a flight attendant and personally for me, when I am travelling and doing red-eye flights and want to cleanse my skin there is nooo way I'm using the airplanes water to cleanse my skin, so I always carry a small bottle of micellar, cotton pads and a separate bottle of plain Evian water to cleanse my skin ! Also for those who do not like toners , I fill a small spray bottle with rose water and a couple drops of tea tree oil ! 😊 for anyone who needs skin care on the go !

I've super oily skin even in winters. That causes acne. But. Guys. Garnier miceller water changed my skin. I've been using it like a week now and I can honestly see a HUGE DIFFERENCE. I have had a lot of tiny lil pimples on my forhead and they're gone now. If you're on a budget and have oily skin I'll highly recommend you garnier miceller water.

Because of the hype I bought Bioderma. I thought it worked fine. When the bottle was empty I tried a regular make-up remover that also got some good reviews. I only noticed how good Bioderma was after I used the other make-up remover and I ended up looking like a panda. There was definitely a very big difference between the two. So basically I found out how good it was after I stopped using it. It's the best I've ever used and will not use something else again. I only use it to remove my eye make-up, then I use a cleansing oil and clarisonic to remove my foundation etc, and after that I will use a cottonpad with Bioderma to make sure there is no residue left.

I just started using Bioderma and I agree with the slight tacky feeling after using the water, but in just 2 weeks I noticed a visible difference in my skin. Redness that no matter what cleanser/toner/moisturizer I used would NOT get rid of the redness in my cheeks. But after 2 weeks of using the Bioderma, the redness is GONE. I love this stuff. I hate spending a ton of time on my skincare and I always felt I had to with a weird combination skin. Having to treat the dry areas then the oily areas, it was a nightmare. But the Bioderma really stepped up and made my skincare regimen really super simple. When I do have the time I take out my clairsonic and really give myself a good scrubbing. I'll use the Bioderma first, and then I clairsonic it, following with a masque and the bioderma again as a toner, and then a moisturizer. My skin never feels so clean!

+Thyri Carver i also struggle with redness all the time and found my answer in micellar waters. If you stop using tap water on your skin, you'll somehow find that your skin suddenly is waaaay better, too! I always cleanse with micellar water and then spray some thermal spring water (Avene, Bioderma & Evian make a great one); and that's it for cleansing my uber sensitive and redness-prone skin!

I've used both, I was quite happy with the Garnier but the Bioderma is even better although nearly twice as much. The point of these is to take make up off and cleanse without having to rinse your face that's why I use it. I find it gives a good clean but at the end of the week would probably use a wash off. Neither of them dry my skin out and bioderma leaves a lovely dewy effect to the skin, I really like it. If it did t leave your skin tacky it would feel tight and dry. It leaves my skin feeling perfect, not tight not dry, or sticky, maybe depends on your skin type I'm normal to dry. Are you sure you like micellar water's ;)

Never tried Garnier, I actually got advised against buying it by a salesperson at a local drugstore. I did end up buying Revlon instead (2 for the price of 1) and it stank! To me, it smelled like mold. I gave one to my daughter and used one myself and it worked okay, if only it weren't for its smell. I've been using Bioderma for a while now, it's been my first ever micellar water to use and I swear by it. I have very sensitive eyes and am prone to dry eyes sometimes (dry eye syndrome) and even Bioderma can sting my eyes sometimes, mostly when I use too much product and it actually enters my eyes and gets to my eyeballs in excess. I am afraid to try any other though. Add I always, always stock up when they're sold 2 for 1.

I use the garnier one, I used to use the Apot Care one but it stung my eyes (they're super sensitive though, eve lom stings my eyes and it doesn't do that to literally anyone else haha), but the garnier one doesn't sting my eyes which is really awesome. I have the bioderma one but haven't actually used it yet - I'm a bit nervous about it having a scent like you say, I'm not a fan of things like that having much of a scent! madeupincolour I think the fact is is French imported, the price is justified. It just may not be justifiable for everyone. Like, I am in a position where I can afford the Bioderma, and I prefer the way it didn't leave my skin quite as tight as the garnier, and the scent was pleasant to me. But, if I got into a position where I couldn't afford the Bioderma anymore, I would be happy enough to use the garnier :) Thanks for your comment xxx

Idek if it's the same type of thing, I'll have to check. How do I forget my own products?! hahahah. If so, that's like, the 5th one now I wanna compare with. :'D I WAS gonna say I'll let you know which I prefer but turns out I'm a derp and don't even know my own products.

I have Garnier but i'm not that satisfied with it. it doesn't clean properly like a real dermato micellaire.. but it does remove a lot of make up well. I have used it to remove dirt but you cant get the deep cleanse with it... better use la roche posay micellaire, it removes dirt much better and deep cleanse. garnier is cheap af, so i don't think it is meant for proper deep cleanse.
