I never fail to wobble along on the back side when I sew on a binding. I started using a zig zag or decorative stitch so it is not so obvious. I am just glad to know it is not just me who gets some wobbles on and off the binding in the back.
This is what I do as well, but with a few differences which were making me laugh. Everyone has their own way of doing things! I used to always hand bind…..not anymore! Thank you!
Thank you for joining us!!!!! It is incredible how many different ways there are to do things! I love to share what works for me as it may help someone else!
Im just starting to get into quilting and learned from a friend there are no "quilt police", so whatever works best for you is right. Thanks for this tutorial - just subscribed for more helpful tips. Love the fabrics.
Great video tutorial!!! Loved the way you showed the joining of the ends and for some reason it seemed easier than before when Ive done it. Thanks again!
Glad it was helpful! Sometimes (at least for me) it takes a few times of seeing something to get it -- or I'm in a better mood and just "get it" more easily. Who knows, as long as it helps you. Just shout if I need to review it in the future! :D
I enjoyed watching your binding tutorial! Thanks for showing another way to use two-sided tape! Lastly love your creativity of using pink binding with the black and white material!
Do you or anyone know how to attach a binding to an inside cut rather than outside curve? I have tried by cutting little slits at the corner but still lots of bulk and messy looking. thanks
Yes! I like to use Wrights pre made binding for curves like that, because first I iron it into shape-- training it to bend along the curve. If you're using binding cut on the bias, you don't need to clip or cut notches anywhere. Then I attach it just like this video. I will show this on a future live, thank you for asking .
It is in my shop, but we are currently sold out. If you hit the notify me button my system will email you when it's back. sewhungryhippie.com/products/alexander-henry-sofia-heavy-oxford-1-2-yd-preorder
Yes - if hand stitching the binding down, you would attach it to the front first and wrap to the back, then hand stitch it down to the back--but I'm using all machine so it is sort of backwards if you're used to hand stitch method. If you're talking about the double-fold version, sew the wider edge to the fabric first then wrap to the front. Thank you Harriet 🥰
Love that floral black and white fabric and your necklace!😍
Thank you! It was DELIGHTFUL to make this necklace!!!
@@SewHungryHippie We need a tutorial for it! 😅💗

A decorative stitch is really nice to do - and no, I think we're in the majority of people with wobbles. LOL!
Thanks for an excellent demonstration!! I like how you do not require perfection!
You are so welcome, thank you for watching.

How do you know how long to make the short pieces? 8:53 I always feel like mine ends up with too much extra
Never mind-you explain it with the double fold binding
Are you sewing 1/2" from the edge and then trimming them to 1/4"?

@@SewHungryHippie Yay! Done! Thanks sew much!
Great video! If you use the 2 sided tape can you wash the piece after use?
Yes you can!
thanks

How do you know when you join the two pieces together which one is pretty side up?
Oh they are both pretty side down, I should do this again with a more noticeable fabric right/wrong side. Thank you for making me aware! :)
Hi there, I just love your videos. You are amazing. Wanted to ask what kind of fabric/material do you use for your binding?
Hello! Thank you so much! It's great to have you here! The binding I make is 100% cotton, and the prepackaged binding it's 100% polyester.
@@SewHungryHippie ❤️
You didn't show where to cut the binding once you were trying to meet the ends?
After sewing the ends together I trimmed 1/4" from the sew line.
You didn’t show the difficulty in sewing those pieces together. I was wondering if you had a trick in sewing tight spaces.
Difficulty? Pin them together and sew - it's pretty easy because the binding sections are not fully sewn down to the project yet.
It looks like you are doing it backwards
