What about manual transmission
I believe for manuals it is the same except you leave the car in neutral. Please let us know if that works.
Excellent video, it solved the idle problem on my 2005 Estima, thank you!
well put. the procedure is good. other videos are helpful, but irritating. thanks for making a well produced video.
Thanks man ❤
Thank you! You fixed my problem with my 2003 lexus es300 after battery change
Happy to help!
Thanks
Really suprised this actually worked lol
Does this procedure work also on toyota altis 2009 Manual?
Please try and let us know. Look at the pinned comment for more info on doing this with a manual.
well explained 📹 but does it work on rav4 2020? thanks
I think it will. Let us know for sure!
I made reset in P. It took 1 or 2 minutes.
Does this works on a 2015 Toyota tundra trd pro?
I believe it should work.
Appreciate your video! Question is it possible to reset idle on the push button start Toyota/Lexus cars?
On newer cars with that system I believe the idle will reset itself over time. To speed up the process you could make a lot of short drives turning off and restarting the engine more often. As a last resort you could try disconnecting both battery terminals from the battery and holding them together for 30 seconds. This will drain residual power from the computers to reset them, but may not work to reset the idle.
@@EndlessMoneyPits ay thanks for responding and will try it! I actually found another vid the guy said even with the push starts to follow the same process you did! I tried it a couple of times, seemed like the idle got a little better but not back to normal! I'll definitely try your recommendation! Thanks again!
What if the car is manual?
That is a really good question! I don't know the answer, but I suspect letting the car idle in 1st gear on an empty road might work.
❤👍💯
Oh my its so easy but why did one guy shows it with the gas pedal pressed 3 times?
My rsi idling is too high, wont reset why ? 2000 model
Could be a malfunctioning sensor.
Does this work on Hybrids too?
Here are the directions I found for resetting the idle on Hybrid Toyotas:
1) Make sure the vehicle is fully warmed up. Do the procedure immediately following a long drive that runs the engine (highway speeds are best - not long gliding stealth runs at low speeds with the engine off). This will insure the coolant temp is at FULL operating temperature - it is not necessary to actually measure the coolant temperature if you warm up the engine sufficiently and don't let the engine shut down too long and cool off before doing the procedure.
2) With the vehicle stopped and in drive, press firmly on the brake to keep the vehicle from moving and then step on the accelerator while watching the power meter (to the left of the speedometer). Press down on the accelerator to keep the needle between 1/2 and 3/4 up the scale. You will find that the engine management system will automatically limit the engine load no matter how far you press down on the pedal so the amount you press is not critical as long as it is either 1/2 scale or to the engine's self-limiting load value. Keep the engine loaded for a full 30 seconds but not longer than 40 seconds (this procedure brings the hybrid battery up to a maximum state of charge - if you watch the battery symbol, you willl see it tick up to a "full" display).
3) Shut off the engine and place it in park
4) Wait 5 seconds.
5) Turn the ignition key back on to display "ready"
6) make sure the A/C and heater system controls are set to off
6) Lightly step on the accelerator pedal until the engine starts -then immediately take your foot off the accelerator and let the engine run until it stops by itself.
@@EndlessMoneyPits thank you very much
What if it has smart key??? Same procedure?
Give it a shot and let us know. I don't have any smart key cars.
How will you know if it’s reset?
Your car's rough idle will improve.
@@EndlessMoneyPits is it possible it can be anything else?
I followed the directions and haven’t seen an improvement. I did just recently get my alternator changed. There was a delay when starting the vehicle. A little hesitation. Then the alternator was changed, and the idol is acting even more funky.
A lot of different things could cause a rough idle. Have you had your battery tested recently? If the alternator was bad then the battery might have deteriorated to some extent. Aside from that it could be anything from spark plugs to a sensor to old gas etc.
@@EndlessMoneyPits OK thank you for your very swift response. My mechanic did tell me that my battery was at 40%. I think I’m just gonna have to go ahead and purchase one to see if it can make a difference.
My idling is too low what can be wrong with that
Could be a lot of things. Check the battery and scan for error codes. I would also check air filter and replace the fuel filter if it hasn't been done in a long time.
Battery is good ,air filter is ok and no check engine ligts@@EndlessMoneyPits
Some videos say turn the ignition on/off twice, some only show once..I bet the engineer who designed this whole thing is laughing his ass off at the random crap people come up with thinking it's doing something
You're probably right. What a weird way to reset something lol
A half dozen of these relearn videos not one shows you what to do if you have a manual transmission. 🤪
That question has been asked and answered in the pinned comment.
You have to wonder how many people have been suckered into unneeded dealership service bringing cars in thinking they have some timing belt issue.
The More You Know 🌈
My car doesn't have an E break...
All cars have an ebrake or parking break unless it's broken or been removed for some reason. Lever at the center console, pedal near the driver door, or pull rod coming from the dash are all versions of a parking break.
@@EndlessMoneyPits yeah I found it I'm just dumb
There is evidence suggesting I am way dumber. Glad you found it!
@@EndlessMoneyPits tried this method and it seems like it wants to work but my car idles so low it barely stays started. I'm at a loss with this junk
Air filter, spark plugs, fuel filter, old fuel, low battery, faulty engine sensors, or a dying fuel pump are things I believe could cause a low idle. Check the simple stuff first.
