The 12th Doctor is my personal favourite Doctor so my favourites would be: 1, Heaven Sent 2, World Enough and Time 3, The Zygon Invasion/The Zygon Inversion
I remember hearing that the next Capaldi story was going to be "Mummy on the Orient Express" and thinking "Man, they are running out of stories!". When I saw it, I thought "Wow! This is one of the best stories I've ever watched!".
Here’s my top 3: 1. World Enough And Time/ The Doctor Falls 2. Heaven Sent ( I don’t count it as part of Hell Bent) 3. Mummy On The Orient Express And yes, I did watch until the end
I think ITD reminds me of Dalek most due to the introspective nature of a single Dalek making up a lot of the meat of the episode but I can see Resurrection because of the airlock scene (which also reminds me of Star Wars: Episode VI) and the fact that they are in a future space war too
Pleasantly surprised, as I kept watching thinking 'And now he's going to say 'Heaven Sent'..." Like the set up in 'Under the lake', but before the Flood was a let down, and keeps me from ranking it very high.
This is soooo difficult because 12 is my favourite Doctor, but for now this is the list I'm happy with. 1. Heaven Sent 2. Extremis 3. Flatline I could have easily have made a top 20 though!
Capaldi is my favorite Doctor, & I love all of his run, so it’s tough picking out just 3. World Enough & Time/The Doctor Falls Mummy on the Orient Express The Husbands of River Song Honorable mention: Face the Raven, for a scene near the end where the Doctor snaps on Ashildr, pure brilliance.
I 100% agree! Mummy and Orient Express are a close tie for me so hard to decide between the two. Have to admit that your vids made me re-evaluate “Into the Dalek” so it’s elevated a lot now too! The Lake story is my go-to! Can’t fault it myself. I think the slipknot guy did the scream of the Fisher King whilst Peter serafinowicz did the talking 😎👍🏻
Just wanted to let you know I’ve started to follow on Twitter and yeah I love your list and totally agree 👍 (although I do have issues with Into the Dalek)
Here's my picks, starting with an honorable Mention. HM: Under the Lake/Before the Flood 3: Face the Raven 2: World Enough and Time/The Doctor Falls 1: Heaven Sent
1. Heaven Sent (A masterpiece. The greatest episode of Doctor Who ever made. Capaldi’s performance is Oscar-worthy). 2. Under the Lake and Before the Flood (Under the Lake is better in my opinion but both episodes are amazing). 3. Robot of Sherwood (an underrated episode that’s actually really enjoyable).
Straight off the top of my head it's Heaven Sent and the ones written by the chap whose first was Mummy on the Orient Express. So, those two and either Flat Line or Oxygen for third spot. In fact, his four episodes (Girl that Died was the other one) and Heaven Sent are the top five, I'd say.
@@Haxprocess It’s not satire(?) Those are genuinely my three favorite Twelfth Doctor episodes, and some of my favorite episodes of television more generally.
1. Mummy on the Orient Express 2. Under the Lake/Before the Flood 3. Magican's Apprentice/Witches Familiar.........Really dig Extremis ( think it would have worked better as a self contained story, with The Doctor defeating the Monks after he received the email off screen. Rest of that trilogy is underwhelming). Plus think 12 should have stay blind..... character development. Love 12, have tattoo of 12 from Season 9 dvd cover.
Heaven Sent and World Enough and Time/The Doctor Falls I'd have to put on my top 3 but I have no definitive third choice personally. Any of Into the Dalek, Under the Lake/Before the Flood or MOTOE are worthy candidates but idk. I quite like the pilot and elements of Twice Upon a time but generally the overarching flaws of the series tend to get in the way of me enjoying a lot of Capaldi's era which is a shame such as the Clara stuff or pointless Hybrid arc (and on Moffatt not PC) as I think he's a great Doctor and was massively mishandled not unlike Colin Baker. I think he works best in series 10 as a Doctor and like the university setting but wish they had the guts to stick to the more serious tone of his Doctor more akin to the 9th like we see in ITD but he flips at the start of series 9 to be Matt Smith 2.0 and it was just mishandled. As time went on yes he should be more wacky and laid back same as the first and third doctors developed and mellowed over time but it was so clearly a 'oh shit some people can't handle an older more serious doctor quick let's make him a Matt Smith style incarnation again *cues sonic sunglasses, guitar and hoodie* and that was a shame because he's one of the best actors to get the role but the scripts were poor and his era is regarded as mixed and deemed unsuccessful in terms of viewing figures. On a personal level I rarely revisit his era because his episodes aren't great and there is very rarely one where something doesn't put me off watching it and usually that's Clara or naff lines of wacky dialogue about bantering or silly gimmicks or really fucking annoying child actors. I hope he returns to the screen written properly perhaps in the 60th special with RTD because he's such a good actor and Doctor and fan of the show but Moffat's scripts and direction for him could only be elevated so much by good acting (and my God did he make some of the trash he was given sound good). I hope series 14 starts with him awaking in the TARDIS after an awful dream...
It might be because it's let down by the story that follows it - not a view I share, because I also like Hell Bent. Even if I didn't, Heaven Sent would still be at the top of my list, because I take each episode on its own merits, and HS is a humdinger.
@@ftumschk I mean you could kind of see Face the Raven, Heaven Sent and Hell Bent as a 3 part story but they're all very loosely connected that I think you could pick Heaven Sent as its own story. I agree though I like Hell Bent which I'll probably be crucified for.
Under the lake\ before the flood Heaven sent World enough and time I think the doctor falls is ok at best and twice upon a time being decent for Christmas episode
Into The Dalek just feels like a poor man's rip off of Dalek. Everything feels like a parody of that story. Even 'you are a good Dalek' is just such a poor man's version of the line 'you would make a good Dalek'. Sorry, can't get myself to like this story. Wholeheartedly agree with the other two tough!
Clara was not a good compainion, she just got on my bloody nerves. The best one she was in was The Raven episode.... Not just because she got killed (well it was a bit) but I thought it was well acted from Peter.. He is a.fantastic actor and it shines, but I felt Clara messed this up. Then unfortunately even though Heaven sent was in my top 3 Hell bent spoiled it seeing her come back..... But ultimately he forgets her and I wish we could too. But she does die, we know this at the end of Capaldies run where she is in the glass along with ALL of his companions, and unlike Classic whos a companions death was a massive thing. Adrics death was an eye opener and they even left no music at the end just a still of his crushed bad ge. Bill she was more like it, making mistakes asking great questions especially Thin Ice when she asked if he had killed anyone an d his answer is brilliant. They match much better and it was a shame it was not her only getting 1 series. Loved the cybermen Mondas ones too.. They are more freaking scary with the Pain, pain, pain.... And the nurse just turns the speaker down. Horrific so that is my top one. Other I thought the emoji one was just plain dr who fun! It is always nice to get a story you don't have to analyse all the time. The Monks I really like that one or 3 really that one did have a slight dissapointing ending though. And I gotta say I loved the Husbands of River Song, just again for pure good old fun and they interact with each other was fab. Anyway thats just an oldish farts view. My first one I saw was the Spider and Jon turning into Tom!
1. Under the Lake/ Before the Flood 2. Deep Breath 3. Time Heist/ Into the Dalek (can't pick between these two) Heaven Sent and World Enough and Time would be on here, if it weren't for the 2nd parts...
Into the dalek missed the mark for me, haven’t watched it in a while but the doctor was annoying, Clara was annoying, I remember others being annoying and the plot was nothing amazing
I quit watching (new) Dr Who in the Capaldi era. I don't even remember which story it was that broke me, but the moment in question was when he entered a medieval castle on a tank playing an electric guitar. I tried a few of Jodie's stories since, but they were completely unwatchable. So, all in all, new Who is now dead to me.
I never liked Peter's run, well despite it being better than Matt Smith's. But I really think he was one of the best actors to take it on and it's a shame that he wasn't given consistent and good writing.
I'm the exact same, I always tend to find myself going back to S8 even though I enjoyed all of Capaldi's run

Heaven Sent is part of Hell Bent and the preceding episode but you can still pick as the best single episode.
@@flaggerify hell bent is registered as episode 262 if it was a two part it would be 261b
Into the Dalek, directed by the amazing ben wheatley (why it looks so good) is for me up there with one of the best new-who stories.
