Before Whitney, Celine and Mariah there was Donna. A woman that was so underrated as a vocalist. She had the power of Whitney and Celine and the Angel voice of Mariah. RIP you will always be number 1 in my life.
Over the top.
I couldn’t agree more! RIP you are deeply missed Donna!!!
All true
so true, her voice was fantastic.
She wasn’t underrated. She was and will always be a superstar. She made music and had hits in every decade until she passed, that’s not underrated. #legndary #icon #originaldiva
Who came here right after the documentary? Such a beautiful woman and the total package. Rest in heaven to the queen of disco.
I sure did. What a poignant way to end the doc. We love Donna!
I also did.had to hear this beautiful song by the great donna summer .the performance is magnificent and her voice just beyond words rip ms donna summer😊
I did! Love love love her! The soundtrack to my life, and this song was a revelation, as were her paintings, and learning that she wrote so many of her hits. She truly is the queen of everything!
??
Me, Just Got Done Watching & I Loved It.
That was off the chart. Don’t think that I have ever heard a song sung with such emotion and honesty. Just beautiful.
Sung with the knowledge that she would be leaving us all!
La ascolto ora piu'di prima...averla riscoperta pochi anni fa' ha cambiato tutto in me
..
Yes !! 😣😢😭
Such a huge and emotional delivery on stage. Her voice was huge, and so was her beauty and stage presence. Donna Summer had it all, she was a REAL SUPERSTAR.
Bravo.
Very well said - NOBODY could have said it any BETTER !
Penso che sono molto pochi quelli che conoscono la vera Donna Summer....
Donna Summer is without a doubt one of the greatest singers of all time. I love her and I will love her forever.
Ditto. FOREVER.
Yasssss!!!!!
I couldn't agree more with you, my dear friend. Endless love!
me too she is the best ever
@@nicovanderelst6700 Yes, she is the female vocalist G.O.A.T. (GREATEST OF ALL TIME!!)
Good God. Donna was so underrated. This is what a real singer sounds like.
A lady who was way more than just disco....this was pure vocal.and emotional magic ....
yes it is
She didn't have to sing disco, it was silly for her beautiful voice
Disco opened a closed door to her voice. 🫶🏽🤎Donna said in an interview" if she knew ooing, ahhing would've gained her worldwide recognition she would've done it long ago" lol😂she definitely was more than that...all genres across the board with that instrument in her mouth 🎼
@phillycheez6288 Yes, Donna could sing anything and sing it the BEST! Her voice truly was an INSTRUMENT and she was a VIRTUOSO!
She was so beautiful
You know your listening to a superstar .. When you hear their voice and it stops you dead in your tracks .. Clearly a brilliant singer such a stunning beautiful woman a heart tugging voice an angel called home too soon 😢We lost a part of our youth when we lost her 😞😞😞
THAT is perhaps the most meaningful, pathos-filled and lyrical song ever sung by legendary Donna! Her classical vocal training in the US and in Germany had paid off substantially and I can only regret that during her illustrious career, Donna has never recorded more songs of this vein. Never mind. She was the Queen. She is the Queen. Long live the Queen & RIP.
Very Well Said
Wonderwoman...
no gimmicks,no nudity,no autotune,just plain raw talent,just stunning.miss u Donna,from a friend unknown,now always and ever.xx
beautiful comment 👏
Wherever you are Donna, there will be music there! Rest In Honored Glory, my eternal Disco Queen! May your voice ring eternally with the Heavenly Hosts! 😢
Mine too, Bill here
No electronic trickery, no taking off of any clothes, not even choreography. This is pure talent. RIP Donna. And thank you for sharing your beautiful gift with us while you were here. ♥
The beauty of this performance. God was absolutely glorified here in Donna.
Amazing commet
everything said in just 12 words. thank you! 🧡
I find it next to impossible to listen to Donna on this magnificent tune and not cry........
I agree!
Yes !! 😣😢😭
I must admit that I didn't pay much attention to Donna Summer during the 70's. I was graduating from University, starting a career, getting married and starting a family during that time so I guess I was too busy. I listened to MacArthur Park out of curiosity last night. I didn't even know that she had sung that song. Her voice blew me away. How did I not notice her before this ? Then there is this gem. I've listened to it 5 times in a row. It's so genuine, soulful and so powerfully sung. Even though I didn't know Donna when she was alive, I miss her and regret missing all the music that was there.
I found her in the summer of 78. Have you discovered her last studio music. Crayons?
Irreparable loss indeed, and regrettable too.
Thank you tube for the wonderful uploads , at least a chance to make up the loss..
In memory, good night my Queen !
Exactly how I feel, Bruddah.🤙🏽
This just kills me each and every time I willingly go back to listen.
I couldn't agree more! I don't know of anyone who isn't extremely and emotionally moved by If There Is Music There. Moved so much by Donna's incredibly beautiful and legendary voice, her stage presence, her delivery of one of the greatest songs she has ever put pen to paper, a song delivered with such passion and heart wrenching lyrics and vocals that no other voice can compare to.. A voice that has even the not so loyal Donna Summer fan can't help but to have tear filled eyes and even tears streaming down their/our cheeks by the end of the song where Donna sings, "I loved you, I really did love you..but I'm afraid I have to go my dear." I'm sorry, I loved you, I really did and as she turns to go, just like the many thousands of people watching her on the highest rated Special in the history of VH-1 or just listening to her sing it while in the car or at home, seeing her wipe the authentic and very real tears from hers eyes while we all dry our eyes or begin almost sobbing as I have many times while watching her sing it live in concert or at home alone, by the end of the song I'm almost sobbing every time.
Just broth me to tears
I only discovered this song and her performance of it after Donna had already passed. So when I first heard the lyrics and especially the ending, I totally choked up with tears. This is my favorite song of hers now, and I have a lot of faves of hers!
Hi Kenny, I feel so sad too, what a great song… inspired by the moment of her life…
R Rich
I want this played at my funeral.
This and more by her
Completely flawless. Donna Summer's vocals are perfect. I miss her.
Speechless...like I am every single time that I hear her sing 😭...
Donna is in a class with Barbra, Judy and Aretha. She could transform a space with her sound. A legend.
You got it.
A household name before social media. Almost every home had at least one Donna Summer LP. But her beautiful vocals went way beyond Disco.
Donna finally got to showcase her true self!! What a beautiful song and what an amazing voice. Thank you for everything Donna, R.I.P. ❤
This song sung in a concert sounds like a studio recorded one. Just love the texture of her voice and power! RIP Donna.
О, как это волшебно звучит, хочется слушать ВЕЧНО!!!
This ABSOLUTELY sounds like studio quality. It’s simply stunning, this performance brings me to tears 😭
Beautiful lady and a powerful voice.Miss you Donna
This song has such personal meaning to me, I can't help but cry every time I hear it. So glad I grew up listening to Donna ❣
I simply can't imagine anyone listening to this and not appreciating the power and emotive quality of this voice.. jesus..i could cry
I saw her live in Las Vegas. She was fantastic. All my friends and I keep screaming, we love you Donna. She was once in a lifetime.
This voice, this emotions, this feeling, this power, one of the best Live performers ever, the one and only Donna Summer, unforgettable with that beautiful and amazing voice. Listen to her is to feel magic.
A beautiful lady and a beautiful singer is gone.Life isn,t fair.Is it ?
I get the sense she was telling us w/o telling us that she was leaving us soon. If there is music there (Heaven)... 😥
Wow. I agree. Powerful words and performance right up until the end. RIP
I get the same feeling. I literally cannot hear this and not well up. Oh how I miss Donna.......
@@louiswetzel5038 🥰
Makes me cry...joy & sadness. This ballad is from Ordinary Girl the autobiographical musical from Donna that she never got to bring to stage.
I never heard this song until I heard her sing this on the documentary a couple of nights ago. omg I'm obsessed with it and donna summer singing it and yall are so right, she was first of all- nor a drug addiction, came before Whitney, Michael Jackson, was not an addict, was a great singer!!!!!!!!
I'm 70, loved Donna forever, and just found this song a year ago. The Best. I couldn't find anyone who had HBO to see the special.
An incredible voice and human being. This song represents the love and talent of Donna Summer. I miss her. RIP
So beautiful because it was coming from such a place of vulnerable honesty. And that one of a kind voice. Her life was this song.
You had to hear her live to fully appreciate the raw, effortless power that was her voice..just breathtaking
Donna Summer is 1 of the greatest vocalists 2 ever grace the stage n so many never took the time see her n concert. There's no way anyone could see her perform live n not fall n love with her amazing voice n stage presence. She just made it look so effortless. I'm thankful I got 2 see her so many times throughout my life. It's those moments n memories I cherish 4 the rest of my life. Needless 2 say I miss her so much bcuz she brought me so much joy n laughter. It warms my heart that so many ppl feel the same way
As a little kid, I remember hearing a song 🎵 on the radio 📻 🎙 📡 that I liked, BUT I never knew who the artist was. Years later, I learned that the artist who sang the song was Donna Summer, and the song was called "She Works Hard For The Money." In June 1999, I got to see her on VH1 Behind the Music. It aired at 9 pm, and her Live and More Encore aired at 10. This was one of the greatest performances of her special and I was disappointed that it wasn't included on the CD. After both of these programs aired, I purchased the "Live and More Encore" CD 💿 days later. I bought her greatest hits CD 💿 called "The Journey: The Very Best of Donna Summer" in 2003 and her book 📖 "Ordinary Girl" is an excellent read from start to finish. When she passed away in 2012, I was heartbroken 💔. Her legacy lives on through the music and the lives she touched with it.
Thanks, I'll look for the book. I remember that day well in 2012., Bill
speechless on how beautiful this song is and how much in todays music world we miss this beautiful and special gift Her music will live FOREVER .
This is the most beautiful voice I have ever heard.
One of the very best ever live vocals I've ever heard...in my life...she's simply incredible..I love her ...Donna summer will always be with us...❤️🎤 Melanie 32 xx
This performance is absolutely stunning, and her control over the obvious emotion this song would evoke makes it even more incredible.
@@cmjcj2ktnAs a proff 1st soprano lead in proff boychoir all of the technics in this song is mind blowing Rip Queen
@@asoberprep I am not technically trained in music, but I listen to enough of it to know a little 😆 And Donna's performance here absolutely knocks it out of the park, and the song itself is perfect, the lyrics and melody match beautifully. This really is the ultimate performance of her lifetime, and I think she knew it.
@@cmjcj2ktn the craziest thing and I still haven't looked into it is she knew she was dying at this performance and it was from 9/11 dust what she was doing there I have no idea but she died from it just like all those firemen and everyone else
My favorite ballad ever. Heard it on the documentary. Why don't Brooklyn and Bruce make this song a single . Even posthumously it will resurrect our memories of this angel. RIP Donna.
Too The Queen. I was lucky enough to take my late wife too see you. You were never given the full respect you deserved. Your voice, simply magical. But your song writing skills are so over looked. I don’t think many of your fans knew. That you were writing these beautiful songs. I want to Thank You, for sharing your gift with us. May God Bless your Soul, now and forever.
Amen ❤️🙏🦋
Theater, performance, unique voice, and then, We have Donna Summer!!! We miss you, GREATLY!!!
I saw her twice in Atlantic City. She was fantastic. This is a sad song.
I remember the year 2018. My faithful warrior, my male cat had to be put to eternal sleep. He slept beside me final night. I didn't sleep for a second. I made a beatiful grave for him under a tree in a countryhouse. He was something special for me!
So Sweet.
@@wwonka52 Thank's a lot!
Mimi's Song has attached itself to me. It was beautifully writtened and beautifully performed. The first 4:11 time I hear it in Donna's documentary, I can't stop listening to it. We lost her far too soon.
What a beautiful but sad song. The songs lyrics are so telling of her life past, present and future. So when the Angels came Donna had to follow the music. It's hard to listen to without crying. I miss my American Iconic Idol who left this world way too soon❣🙏🏻🎤🎼 😭
Ok, so I've never heard this song before. This definitely touched me😢Rest on Queen 💐
this is what effortless, beautiful, perfect pitch and tone sounds like.. and what true beauty is.
Simply Divine!!! That voice....What a gift.
THE QUEEN OF DISCO - RISE IN PEACE.
What a beautiful woman. She is truly missed.
stunning. one of boston’s finest gifts to the music world
Still gives me chills from long ago.
Questa canzone e'divina.....come chi la ha scritta e cantata.
I never realized, until this moment I much I truly miss this incredible woman. Donna love you always. Rest in God's eternal love & peace.
It's sometimes when they're gone that we measure the ... void that is left behind!
She had so much to give, but in the ellegant way of so many singers behind her, she chose just to give meaning to the words... in spite of the many fireworks she could have shared with us. I love her ellegant way of singing, but I so wish that she let all the power and subtlety she had somehow would have been shown. She's one of the greatest singers we've had the pleasure of listening and feeling. She will live forever.
She made it look so easy.
What beautiful changes and variations in the vocal !
Oh wow...this is STUNNING. i cant imagine hearing that voice live. unbelieveable true talent given by God and shared so beautifully by Miss Summer. her voice just sends me, RIP MISS SUMMER!! one in a million and you are missed and still loved!! ❤💜💚♥
If you listen to this song with good headphones or a stereo system, this is like hearng her live because it was recorded so well.
Man I'm so sorry u missed seeing Donna Summer live n concert bc she always brought the house dwn during her shows she'd bookend her shows wit her radio hits but the numbers n the middle of the shows were always just like this n when thru her arms out n lean head back she'd bring tears 2 ur eyes it was always a transcendent moment just like what she did wit this song n it's a shame they didn't include the ballads on the cd but only on the DVD n it's edited dwn imo no other female singers can crush what Donna did she's 1 n a 1.000.000 n I miss her so much
I can’t listen to this song enough! Absolutely beautiful
On loop right now🎉
I miss Her so much and Her voice was everything and She will always be one of My favorite Preformers and Her Music was always a big part of My life and always will be 😢
The Voice!!!
Hearing this feels like the greatest gift anyone has ever given me. There are so many of my friends that are no longer with us that I would do anything to be able to play this for. This is Heaven. Thank you Donna!
Just heard this song for the first time on the HBO documentary which was so well done. I absolutely loved it. This song brought tears to my eyes. Almost foreshadowing to her death in 2012. Is there any way to be able to get a copy of this an MP3 or streaming. It does not seem to be available on Spotify or the VH1 album. Absolutely gorgeous song
That Woman can SING
Gives me goosebumps. Donna, you are missed!
She identifies a part of my life when I wore a younger man’s clothes and I could only reflect on its memories bc many who shared them with me left with Donna.
So well put! ditto
She was the Hottest Woman on the Planet! MY Favorite Singer! I miss You Donna! Love You Forever! 😥😥😥
Amazing performer! I saw her a few times in Vegas! She wrote a play, and this song was to be in the play. She passed away before it was finished. Maybe she knew it, but sometimes life or death gets in the way. I adore her and the power in her songs. 😢😢😢💜💜💜
Rest in Peace Donna. 11 years ago we lost a true Legend/Icon. What a fitting song now that just hits my heart and makes me so very sad❣🙏🏻🕯🎤🎶😢 #friendsunknown
Thank you for all that you do! I enjoyed listening you in the various clubs in the 70s. I am 66 now and I still listen to you wherever I go! You are truly immortal to us all!
Since the late 70's when i used to DJ at one of the two Bombay discotheques, Donna Summer has remained the eternal QUEEN OF DISCO and made the world dance at her feet with her stunning voice and hit after hit dance tunes. Even today she remains the undisputed DIVA and there is no doubt about this. Still enjoying her dance songs now on You Tube-Darcy Dinshaw. Mumbai
FLAWLESS!

I've been listening to Donna Summer since 70's/80's, but not until today did I ever hear this !!.This song says it all!
That's a voice.
Magical......♥♥ I can't listen to this song without crying.
Absolutely wonderful, powerful with feeling, R.I.P the greatest singer EVER.
So talented. Truly shows her musical theater background. Reminds me of something that Sondheim would write. How true the lyrics are to my heart and soul. Thank you so much for sharing your gift with all of us.
I love this beautiful and emotive song, what a voice !
