The tailgate is a bit bulbous but the rest looks nice. I'd rather have this over a BMW X5 PHEV. Mazda has done nicely moving up to become a premium brand.
Yes it looks too BMW at the rear which is unfortunate.
the bmw wont catch in fire, i work for mazda, their cars are extremely superficial now, if the transmission doesnt grenade before 2 years its major electrical problems until the car catches fire, DONT BUY JAPANEESE
That rear shape is reason that 6 foot individuals have enough headroom in 3rd row
Paid extra to install a hitch but then after the install dealership cant make the hands-free tailgate to open 🤦♂️. Then they said thats the downside of installing a hitch. But i wasn't informed of that when i asked for a hitch 😩 (not that i use hands-free all the time but thats part of the price i paid for 🤷♂️ on top of paying the hitch)
Not that I'd need it, this setup in the 3 might just be overkill. But I'd love to see it anyway...
Shifter is a real non-issue if you own one. I really appreciate the short throw .
CX-90 PHEV has a charge hold button, which allows you to set the hold of charge at 20%. With that the car becomes a hybrid, and will consistently provide power boost by the electric engine for extra oomph.
I agree with you the inline 6 has much better useable power and torque which makes it a way better driver. The PHEV will do everything it can to drive slowly and keep ice off. That said the PHEV is faster than i6 and has a fantastic launch.
It does not seem like the reviewer tried the car in sport mode (when fully charged). The PHEV becomes a rocket ship in that mode and you can easily surprise other drivers that would not guess how swift the car gets. In this mode too you can keep charge hold mode on, which allows for consistent power boost delivery (for instance at 20% charge if battery).
Not sure why people always hate on the shifter. Not that its ever been a big problem for me but having park to the left means you cant mistake your drive mode. It really cant be that difficult to get used to.
Can’t wait for people to start swapping the 3.3 Skyactiv G into RX-7s and stuff.
its extremely unreliable and way too complex, american engines are still the only engines that is not completely stupid to swap
Very cool
Shifter is freakin cool
The hood is long as shiit. This i can understand with its inline 6 but not the smaller cx 30 and 50 with a horizontal inline 4. Makes no sense.
My Element has a short hood but still has lots of space.
But ya the CX90 is really nice.
I don't agree I've driven both and even with no charge in the indicator it still accelerates pretty decent and mpg is amazing I verified with mazda and it says that it nevers drives in gasoline only is always a combination epower and gas power unless you are accelerating and decelerating 4-6 times per minute you will deploy the battery to 0 otherwise the gas engine will always generate extra energy to be stored and be used by the e motor.
Have you noticed the ride has gotten softer as your car gets older, Zack?
Hopefully with tax incentives etc it will be under 39k!
That feels ambitious. Considering the average new vehicle price is around 45k and this has 3 rows
@@markcoopers1930 average doesn’t mean all the things. Plus, this is a high end one. If the lower end trim is over $12,000 less, and there’s tax rebates, it could be a decent amount under 40k (should be).
I wouldn’t consider thus excessively priced trim.
3:05 How has the owner managed to swirl the paint on this so soon?
My brand new car hasn't been touched by a car wash yet still has swirls in it when you look at the paint in direct sunlight. I think it just happens over time from driving if people aren't rubbing stuff on it.
They are press cars… they go through car washes weekly
Probably a press car
brand new mazdas have awful paint, every car we sell had a buffer on it, they all looks like shit when its off the trailer
Mazda is far behind the others in EV world.
in ice engines too, its soo bad, i know i work for them as a mechanic, nothing japaneese is decent right now
@@retrocompaq5212their gas engines are high compression and perform better than equivalent engine from VW group.
In China they just released a fully electric sedan (it’s a cooperation with a Chinese automaker). They are not that behind, but US market is not the whole world…
I find it kind of ugly, especially at that price!
The CX-9 from 2016 has a more refined timeless design than this bloated thing.
Styling went downhill
Wait until you see one in person….. totally different experience. This thing oozes class driving down the road
