Same here @cooldadyo. I was set on getting the Turbo Premium, but with the $7,500 lease credit, I chose the PHEV and it was cheaper. It was a no-brainer, and I was able to get the artisan red with the nicer wheels that come with the Turbo S models.
Best CX-90 PHEV review so far! I'm so glad I got this and it was my first new vehicle. It's not perfect, but close enough for me. I'm always looking forward to driving it, and it looks great inside and out.
Great review, I love how you have the POV recorded from the driver viewpoint! My wife is looking at this and the Highlander Hybrid (she wants a tall 6 seater).
Test drove this car yesterday. One thing I think is a huge miss is the tiny rear view window. The 3rd row headrests make the window almost useless. Mazda would do well to make the rear view mirror a monitor for a camera instead.
@@MrPeterMerkinthe $850 mirror is certainly an option, the install can run from $250 to $1300 around me. I have an appointment to install this weekend…bought the car
Great review. Does this vehicle have one of those weird start/stop features? For instance, when you stop at a stoplight, do you get that jarring shut-off, and then when the light changes and you pull off, you get the opposite jarring start-up? I have a hybrid MDX currently and it is smooth. The car just quietly shuts off at stop-lights, and when the light changes, unless you gun it, you pull off quietly in hybrid mode. Thanks and keep up the good work!
Thank you i’m glad you liked it! I actually reached out to mazda when i had this press loaner and they told me it has both a regular starter motor and an ISG (integrated starter generator) to assist with those situations and ensure a smooth lift off with auto s/s when the engine turns on. Most of the time it starts off in EV mode and then transitions to the engine but that can change as it’s a PHEV and you can force the engine to be on at all times with a button. Only weird thing i’ve noticed is a bit of a transmissions jitter on occasion when coming to a stop / pulling off hard but you get used to it. Not intrusive at all.
I really like this PHEV. I have a toyota highlander hybrid 2022 which I like, but this Mazda is a step up. I average 32.5 mpg and have a range of about 540 miles which is great. I live in in a large metro area where the traffic is horrendous. The PHEV would allow me to drive in the HOV lanes alone. I hope Mazda can improve on the effeciency numbers for 2025. Maybe boost range to 30 miles and mpg on gas engine to 29.
Hi, great review you gave details about this 2024 Mazda cx90 plug-in hybrid premium plus trim I think Mazda has done a great job with this Mazda cx90 plug-in hybrid I'm going to wait upcoming cx7 model however Mazda should have the the the provided little amount of space, especially third-row seats Mazda choose the wrong place to fix that ac vents I think they should have placed over the ceiling one thing I like the most Mazda either this trim or any other Mazda model steering wheel fantastic smooth and comfortable while you drive nice gauge cluster screen Palisades calligraphy is enormous third-row seats and price is less than this trim I liked black chrome glittering grille thanks.

Best Asian PHEV full stop

This can seat up to 8 in certain trims!
@@Allcarnews That would be with 3 children below 5 ft tall....
The battery is 17.8kw and not 14.8kw. Just a little correction lol

There's an option for that.

You mentioned no steering assist. Kudos to Mazda for that! I hate steering assist, it seems to interfere with the driving experience.
Interesting

Are you able tonturn on AWD for example when you are in snow or is it always rear wheel drive?
AWD is always on, it is a full time system. It’s just rear biased AWD most of the time, when needed power is instantly distributed to the wheels
I’m pretty sure the headlights swivel when you turn. I thought all Mazdas had that?
I’ve driven every mazda, i didn’t see it on this one
It's a feature on the premium plus, which you had.

What prerequisites do you meed to have to get press cars? Also wants to make car reviews
there are only 2 seatbelts in the 3rd row. not intended for 3 people
Wrong. 3 seatbelts
The headlights in the premium plus are steering headlights...15°
Depends on market, not in US market, not on PHEV.
17.8kWh battery?
Is it apple carplay touchscreen
yes
But default it is disabled while moving. However there is a way to enable it in the menus.
56 MPGE
It needs a larger battery for at least 32 miles electric range and lane keep assist and that's why I'm not considering it!
