I think he was hitting a set of 425's that are different than the ones I own, his shots all went straight while mine seem to send the ball left, or right, or straight sometimes too.
My 16 yr old son was able to recently hit the these two irons. We’re looking to upgrade his bag this winter. He just started playing this past July and fell in love with the game. He was fortunate enough to have his uncle hook him up with a full bag right off the start with some older irons he wasn’t using. So he’s hitting Callaway Big Bertha Fusions 3-PW. 52 and 60 degree Cleveland wedges. A fairly newer PING Answer 2 putter and Covra Baffler 3 wood and Drive but just recently upgraded his driver with a PING G430 which he loves. Had our eye on the new Titliest 350’s that come with a proud price tag like most newer sets but he has fallen in love with the 425’s. He said he felt zero difference between them and the new 430’s. Honestly the only difference after I hit them that I could honestly tell was the price tag. He was hitting the 7 iron around 165-170 and the yardage didn’t drop off majorly on miss hits. I’ve found a place selling 5-PW under $700. Like $685. For now he really likes the Cobra 3 wood. It’s probably his favorite club in his bag and his Putter. That’s what we’re probably going with. So then we’ll upgrade the wedges and possibly add a 5 wood and he should be set for the upcoming season. I’m betting when he goes to test 5 woods his older 3 wood ends up getting upgraded as well. Lol. PINGS G 430 3 wood looks amazing setup behind the ball. Haven’t had the opportunity to hit it yet though.
I tested the g430 and I really loved them. Also the sound was very enjoyable. The set was not in stock and I bought the Callaway AI Smoke. Good ones too but I should have waited a bit cause I think about the Ping a lot…
I tested G430 and Ai smoke. The pings i liked so much more. The way the club felt when hitting the ball was totally different felt so much better n crisped with the ping over smoke..
Considering that the G430 irons are about 1° stronger lofted than the G425’d that would account for being 3-4 yards longer in distance. Set the lofts exactly the same and then test them for a true result to see if there’s actually any more distance generated other than simply because the new club is stronger lofted. But they are both great clubs
I normally don't put too much stock in looks, but the notch in the hosel of Ping irons is what keeps me from buying them. Probably sounds dumb, but it is what it is.
Yep, looks weird to me too. Not sure if it serves any purpose other than being a Ping trademark but it makes me feel the club is going to snap. I'm warming up to the idea of buying set though.
He has a lot of speed to maintain height. Let's see Taylor hit these. I think these would struggle at her swing speed. The Mizuno JPX HL would be better for the more average swing speeds.
I agree. My son and I hit both at a local Dicks. The salesman slide the 425 in while we were hitting some other irons that we THOUGHT we were interested in. Fell in love with the G 425’s and for the money difference neither one of us plus the salesman could see the worth. Virtually the exact same club and $400-$500 more. Now someone else may see enough of a difference to justify it but we couldn’t.
@@TraplordsosaI agree. Which is why it’s so important for golfers to get properly fitted. Have someone there that can fix all of those issues and you walk away with a set of clubs basically tuned to allow you to hit a golf ball the best your swing will allow.

I played a set of 425s for 9 holes last fall. Just tried and bought a set of 430s this year. I much prefer the feel of the 430.
I'm just the opposite, I preferred the G425.
Test these with slower swing players

The G430 still generates more spin and stops just as quickly even with more distance. Its also much more accurate side to side. It’s a clear winner.
@@davidbaker2778 exactly right. The proof is already there in the numbers that it's more than the static loft of the club.
This was very helpful! I am considering upgrading to one of these. Right now I have Ping I3s
Test them against ping g series from a few years back
You know you guys could just buy a caliper to measure how thick the top line of the club face is :)
I hit both the 425&430 are the exact same 425 bout $1100 cheaper for complete bag

It’s to help with loft and lie adjustments, it also moves weight from the heel to add forgiveness.
Would love to see these against the 525 next!
G430 wins for me but the higher bounce puts me off as it’s usually very dry where I play
I much prefer the look of the 425's and i hate a 7 iron that has a loft of under 30*.
Lol, brysons 8 iron is 30 degrees. Crazy how strong they are lofting the clubs now.

So no real difference for average golfer..
Golf club reviews is all smoke and mirrors
Depends on what you define as a real difference!

Why’s he swing so hard !! wtf it like he’s trying to crush it !!
The 425-I swung it about 35x and every single shot went right (right handed) For me-it was horrible. Now the tm 790 was awesome for me.
Sounds like a lie angle issue.

do these stop you pee rolling 10 yards 🤣
So there the same 😅 in a nutshell
