    i530 and i230 are both very balanced irons. But Blueprint S is a dream club for most mere mortals lol.

    G430 irons are the most underated irons imo. I've seen a 6 hdcp and 22 hdcp game them and improve by an avg of 2 to 6 strokes per round!

      Ping game improver irons are always super solid. It wasn't that long ago their cavity back Eye 2 iron was the only model they made. 👍

    The i230s are incredible. I love mine. Very soft (I think they sound softer than the Titleist T series tbh), consistent, durable, and a nice high flight in the mid to long irons. They are a non-combo combo set with their progressive design. They are very stable if you miss slightly towards the toe. The BP-S are awesome too, can combo with i230 easily, but they are ~CAD 2600 for a set which is really pricey.

      i230s are interesting. I play i210s and when I tested the i230s I found that they span a little less than my i210s. No idea why, same loft, probably just me but I was not convinced they were as good as my i210s. Those BP-S irons really look pretty, just not convinced I am good enough for them. Yet when you look at the figures in the video, the i230s were exceptionally good performers with high spin. Overall I think Ping have one too many irons in their range, G730 seems totally unnecessary

      @@justinstephenson9360 Yes, I have a set of i210s as a backup too. They're very good. To me, the i230s are a touch softer, but close. The BP-S are enticing for sure, but I think you have to be on your game for the 4, 5, 6 irons. 7 on down aren't too different after my testing and fitting.

    Just got the i530's in retro spec. I hit the stock 7 iron with 29* of loft and I was hitting it around 215 yards. I opted for the retro spec because they are 2* weaker. Ended up in standard length, orange dot (2 flat), and the shaft is S300 120g. My club head speed said I should be in an X100 but I really liked the release of the S300. Gave me a tighter dispersion as well. I could hit the i230 and the Blueprints but I really liked the feel of the i530 and I like the additional forgiveness of the i530.

    What makes you think you'll get a "jumper" with the i530? Was there evidence of that in your testing or just something that has been reported on in the past of similar type irons?

    • @todaysgolfer
      @todaysgolfer  2 месяца назад

      We've never really seen a 'jumper' while testing indoors Blake. Neil has been experimenting with a set of hollow body irons on the golf course over the last 3 months and feels a couple of shots have just flown forever. But that could be down to moisture as it has been incredibly wet here.

    • @lkae4
      @lkae4 2 месяца назад

      That's just the nature of hollow irons. They are designed to hot out the middle. So elsewhere could be significantly shorter. But you would think the same thing happens with driving irons and hybrids.

    • @atxrich
      @atxrich 2 месяца назад +1

      I think the ‘jumper’ has to do with the ‘trampoline’ effect due to the construction of the club face in combo with the low spin nature of these clubs. I think it’s a trade off- for most club golfer’s they are willing to accept it to gain the extra distance. The earlier P790 was criticized for this, but TM would claim this has been mitigated over the generations.
      I will say many of the sets in that category are progressive, so there is a transition in construction with the scoring irons where they have less tech and better consistency. I game the Mizuno Pro 245 and I don’t feel like I get that many jumpers (if any) in that set. You can definitely notice a difference in sound/feel when you play the mid/longer irons due to the tungsten and design of those clubs, but the scoring clubs feel very solid.
      Oh, and Luke Donald put the 245’s in the bag.

      @@atxrich At the same time, I don't consider MP 245 or i530 to be distance irons. Less inherent tendency for fliers.

    Great video. Do you think a triple combo set as follow could work well for a low handicap: i230 4,5 | blueprint s 6-9 | blueprint t pw

    • @todaysgolfer
      @todaysgolfer  Месяц назад +1

      There's nothing saying you can't combo them in that way Evan. It would be unconventional, especially so with just a single Blueprint T iron in the bag, but as somebody recently told us - you do you!
