I got a tip that completely transformed my golf game. I was told to "swing like Lee Trevino". I open my stance slightly, never let the clubhead get inside of my hands, and biproduct of opening my stance is that it shortens my swing (closed stance allows for a longer swing). This video of yours is relatable because I was told to set up much more forward with lower loft at address.
love this drill set. can't wait for texas to thaw out to try these!
absolutely appreciate the technical explanations as well
This man has changed my golf game lmao. Can’t get enough of these videos. Thanks Matt!
You’re instructional videos are the best. They’re not so basic, we’ve heard it all before. They’re detailed and practical and address all aspects of the game. Keep it up!
This is great information. I'm a former college football athlete and new to golf . I'm BIG on "feel". The drills explained in this video really satisfied the feel of my swing. It reduced the uncomfortable tension of my swing from years of barbarian workouts.
Same problem for me. Former college football guy and a bigger dude so I feel like i am always trying to swing too hard and have a lot of tension. Great video.
That step back drill is amazing for reinforcing rotation in the swing and it only takes a few reps of doing it if you lose it in the middle of a round.
This video immediately helped me on the course yesterday. I was straight with my shots and more pure. Thanks!
Practiced these moves with just a club in my living room and let me tell you...the motions feel sooo much more fluid!!
Shoutout to MrShortGame for another great practice video!
Matt, thank you for the very informative training videos. I have been putting in work with your drills and building my strength. My rotation is way better, my shots are straight, and consistent.
Just finished a range session trying these out and man did it help. Thanks for the tips!
Fantastic instruction! Thank you
Now this was a fantastic video with very good explanation Mr. SG! Thanks for the tips!
Awesome tips. I used to come in way too steep with my irons. Once I started shallowing out, my consistency went way up.
thank you for this video. i have already started practicing this drill in my den
Your givin' away the secret sauce Matt! I've been working on the same thing for quite awhile along with other stuff too...good insight there!
Thank you ... Watched this about a month ago and practiced as much as I could and now my swing in no longer over the top; fat; or pull hooks. I am going to keep working on these drills, my suggestion is to start slow with each drill until you can do it on auto pilot then practice with one club to get your tempo and work out the kinks and you should see some positive results
Thanks for the tip sir!
Excellent video, appreciate the effort!
Definitely one of your better videos. Thanks.
Hi, I'm pretty new to the channel and so far the loving your drills. I've been playing golf for 30 years now but always feel my impact with my irons is always hit or miss. and most of my bad shots I tend to pull left or they just don't feel pure. with that I was wondering if you analyze swings if I sent you some videos of my swing?
Matt thank you for all you do for us!!!
Great drill Matt. Love your content ; this is why I’m missing to the left
All in on Sweetens Cove. Played there in 2021. Loved it!
This is kinda interesting…. GREAT VIDEO and instruction. The second tip about ending up open with your hips…. Well that was the best explanation of that part of the Golf swing, I think I’d ever heard or seen ! Thanks so much man… If it ever stops raining here N the San Francisco Bay Area…. I’ll TAKE this out 2 our range! LOL! Thanks again!
Hey Mr Short Game, where did you buy your golf shoes that you’re wearing in the video?
Awesome video, Hands down best golf teacher on RUclips.
Did you make your retractable screen or purchase it somewhere?
The best drill!!! I'm going to start today!
In another video, you said to push the handle back to remove hand movement in regards to long irons. Can I also do that for short irons?
It's not clickbait,it's a description for a golf problem. It shows everyone who has that problem a video to fix it. There are A LOT amateur golfers who need this kind of help
Good drills
These are cool... i think i you cant do the step back drill... can you just put your left foot back to begin with and then hit trying to get your hands over to your left pocket from there?
Appreciate the videos.
I don't know that I agree that by pressing the hands forward, that it will open the club face. When starting the backswing, the club should actually look like it is closed when the hands get waist high, unless you are consciously rolling your hands backwards (death move). Yet, at impact it is actually square to target line. There has to be some leaning of the club at impact in order to compress the ball before hitting turf. Having said that, you provide some good points and I like this video and the drills that you have provided. Thank you.
Awesome tips
Great video! 🎉
I've been playing for about 14 months now, I wanted to know this from day 1 already, thanks.
30 years as a club pro and I have never seen this step back drill. Gotta try it😊
It's the same move as hitting a baseball. That's it.
I was wondering if you have a video talking about your hitting mat(s)? I recently got a simulator setup in my garage and I need a better mat for my wrist and elbow...any advice would be great.
By the way, I love your content and videos. The recent PGA show videos were great.
Best video yet was the wedge video from 100 yards in where you rock the baby or football and extend with the arms and then push off with the right leg. I never hit the ground any more before the ball and get amazing height.
on the ball!
Do you have a link to that video?
Holy flip Batman!
Sweetens #9....one of my favorites
That's funny, I work on the opposite with my coach and it works out so much better for me. A more steep club path and coming down onto the ball, granted the down and left club/hand path is a part of the trick to making it work. Interesting how many different swings there are, wish I knew that earlier on lol.
Great video! 👍
Man these 3 drills have been a heaven sent for me. I spent the time to do these drills and the results were amazing. Today I felt like I was swinging easier but the ball was flying better and further. 4i thru wedges. Well worth spending the time because the result is centered shots
Practice hitting older Top Flites they tell on you if you aren't making a perfect compression with your irons. Newer Top Flites are some of my favorites, not as rocky sounding..
0:35 Wish I could do the miraculous thin it through the bunker and end up only 2 yards through the green shot.
4:31.. Dude. Thank you!
It's somewhat ironic that watching your videos is benefitting my long game mostly!
Sweetens in a sim? No way! Too cool. Love that course. Probably easier to get on now in a sim than in real life.
This video is extremely timely
Dude are you in my head right now? I swear I’ve been struggling with seeing my balls being hit a couple grooves low a lot lately. Thanks for the video. Can’t wait to try it out
How did you arrive at this 95% number?
500 times 😊 great job
Pls drop the music, detracts from your words.
My wrist has always been connected to my shoulder too
I don’t get it. Why shallow irons?
Think low point not “hit down” then low and exit.
Well I disagree with the hands forward thing. It’s important to have your hands ahead of the club head at impact, but not to the extreme you had it. Also, if it opens the club face too much, take a stronger grip.
What if it’s actually 96%?
After 50 years of trying to get the swing right according to "professionl" announcers, I learn my original swing was almost perfect when I started, until I kept trying to change it!! Thanks anyway!!!
Man if I had one of those sims I’d never get anything done
Is there a hidden benefit, that I’m unaware of, to having music drowning out your speech?
Matty o o o o o o o o o o o o o 🏄♂️
When someone gonna come out with a 18 hole bag ? I can carry 18 now
At this point in my golf life.... I'm taking bogeys all day! 😂
You just want that hands forward look behind the ball not in front
I swear to god golf has the most back and forth bs instructions from anyone and everyone. The whole game is contradictory. 😂
Pros do not deloft that much?
Man, the clickbait titles on RUclips are so annoying these days. I know why they do it but it makes me not even want to watch the video anymore.
Where is the clickbait title here?
What clickbait?
@@robsmith6093 The entire title. Saying a percentage of golfers do some vauge thing wrong. First, where did the 95% number come from? Also, he doesn't mention what they're doing wrong in the title because he wants you to wtach the video to find out what he says it is. I thought it was pretty obvious and didn't need any explanation but the tile is blatant clickbait. Unfortunately, it's everywhere now. He does it, Rick Shiels does it. Tons of people do it now. It's deceptive.
Not sure how this is clickbait but good talk everyone.
Here’s a thought if you don’t like it don’t watch.
He doesn't need to mention it in the title if he shows a picture of what the title is actually about, then in the video he goes on and talks more about what you see in the photo. Seems like a reach to call this clickbait though. I don't like deceptive titles either I just didn't think this was one of them
Your cadence makes this a very difficult video to get through.
Don't hit down but at the same time don't hit up 🤣 down is better than up kids
I fell like that you should ALWAYS HIT DOWN instead. The thing is that your arms are not going to stretch, when you hit down, it has to come up. For many beginners, they hit too thick and the club head bounce up and then top their ball. When you hit down right at the ball, your club head is going to slightly reach further than you intended, due to speed. And then you would hit the ball in the back perfectly, if you always try to hit down at the ball.
Hands forward only opens the face if you can't create lag. I'm disappointed in this info Matt
I love your enthusiasm and the way you approach things. But I've found you tend to over complicate what your trying to say and it gets a bit long and confusing. Just my opinion
This sounds so over complicated
Sure are a lot of “95% golfers” that have problems
You should start off with saying this works for me and it may not work for you every swing is different because everyone has a different range of motion
Good advice but why are you coaching like you’re a Disney employee? Maybe trying to target young golfers. If so, you succeeded
Dude your gonna ruin someone's game bad!
We need to talk cause you need to meet in the middle of what you're saying
Gosh. Why do yanks ramble on so much. It literally took 3 minutes of an 8 minute video to actually get to the point.
You need to do a better job of declaring what level of golfer that you are talking to. If you don’t, you’re just going to sound like a coked out conflicting person of influence. That would be a shame.
50% of your instruction is telling what NOT to do. That is so clueless. Say this to a beginner, then he know right away how to do it wrong 😂😂😵💫
Nice flippy golf swing
Hey....you're kinda good at this...keep'm coming Matt!! 🏌🏌
