No overheating issues and Eye-AF is can't miss! *BTW, I had the camera on for over 2 hours setting up the custom buttons and it was warm but not overheating. It had the screen flipped outwards. I have the high temp setting on. You should leave on high always
room temperature, screen open, temp high turn on, bluetooth off, airplane mode on, xavc 4k 60 4:2:2 10 bit proxy on (lowest one), 26 minute high temperature sign appear, its an improvement tho, but not resolved this overheating problem, before update firmware 16 minute sign appear.
I shot a 2 hour long event on a tripod with adapter third party battery, it lasted about 1hour 20 mins continuously before shutting off, then kept the A7IV off for some time while shooting from my other camera and turned it back on and it worked fine for another 40/45 minutes of cont recording. I didn't have the screen flipped up which could have saved the day for me, but it was not too bad either. I have updated the firmware couple weeks back.
Hey there! Haven't experienced any actually. I have the temp set to High and it gets a little warm after extended continuous recording but nothing that renders it unusable.
I bought my camera a few weeks ago, and it turned off after 5 minutes, I had them change it because they didn't want to, and when I finally changed it and got my new camera, it now turns off after 15 minutes... I'm fed up about this, any advice?
Did you had any colour banding in low light? I have colours banding when I'm shooting pictures in low light. Is possible to do ita test like I did to see if you have same issues? My Iso was 50 or 100 in night photography aperture was between 8 and 11 and shutter speed was between 10 or 30 sec or Bulb, can you testing your camera like I did?
The image quality of A7IV is spectacular. Ergonomy is also better compared to other sony cameras. But unfortunately this overheating issue is a real problem. It overheats in 4K 50p within minutes. And it did get overheated for me even on 1080 25fps. which is ridiculusly bad performance in 2022. It is simply unacceptable especiasly concidering the price of this camera. So I think I will get rid of my A7IV as soon as possible and buy another A7sIII instead. I think its a shame on Sony to relese camera with this performance and say it can shoot video. No, it can not. Only for 5minutes and than it switches off because of overheating issue. In the past my A7sII got overheated sometimes at 4K 50p but that was still a lot more reliable than the A7IV. Maybe a future firmware update will fix the overheating issue but right now I think A7iv is simply unusable for any professional videographer. And probably annoys nonprofessionals as well. 😞
Yeah the image quality is really nice! I haven't had much overheating problems since switching temp settings. A few other people commented on another one of my videos saying they have never experienced overheating. One of them shot in Thailand for extended periods of time and no issues. I'm thinking that there are good and bad batches out there.
@@MarioSoMedia i have it set to high... but it has been like this since beginning .. n it seems to be working just okay... My current firmware version is 2.0

It's 2024 and I just updated to the latest firmware 2 days ago and my A7IV is overheating and shutting down about every 5 minutes. Before i could shoot for a couple of hours before it overheated but it never shutdown. temp is set to HIGH.
After update. Still overheating verry soon. Screen flipped out... And overheating fix settings. First run in theatre was 12min. Then could not run more than 5min. Crazy... Thinking of switching to different camera
Bro everyone that deals with sony cameras know that the first thing you do when you get the camera is flip it to high temp. if you keep it in Standard it will always overheat fast for the most part but if you put it on high you'll be fine with little to no issues.
@@MarioSoMedia Yeah all of the newer full frame cameras are like this. A7S3, a9,A7r4,A1 I've had them all and its basically normal at this point. Just keep it on High
I owned Sony A74 for 2 years. The other day, I was videorecording a dance performance by using XAVC S 4K 60fps 422 10 bit, the camera shut down due to overheating!!! Firmware was updated, and Auto power OFF temp: High. After search on websites, I am going to try 2 more solutions, 1) Recording externally, 2) Dummy battery to external battery pack.
Oof having to have a high temp threshold. Good thing you were able to switch back to that threshold in your interview. Kind of dumb they didn’t give you that update!
Thank you for your video's. I have exactly the same issues. I had a wedding on a warm day and it shot off alll the time. Terrible. The update didn't work for the overheating. So thank you for your advice. The shop wasn't so helpful unfortunately. ps, the A7SIII worked all day in the same circumstances, my camera for only 10 minutes each time and then turned off.
The weird thing to me is that there are so many different experiences with this camera in regards to shutting down and heating up so 🤷🏻♂️. I do keep mine to High but still.
I'm facing the same overheating issue here in India after an update. No changes. Sony is not interested to fix the issue I think, after so many months.

HI Tell please about Filmware 2.0? What about overheating?
I haven't had overheating since v1 after I switched the temp settings to High
Thats a big issue I believe. I was planning to get this camera along with the FX3, but, I believe I'd get the A7r4 instead. What do you suggest?
That one is solid too but no flip out or 4:2:2 10 bit internally.

Any issues with updates on an M1 MacBook Pro?
So their new firmware is via SD card but it was faulty so they paused the firmware download.

Yeah. Apparently the a1, a7siii and the newer ones have to have the temp setting set to High and they work normally after that.

Why insist on putting the camera on standard mode? Just leave it at high, what do you have to lose? if it overheats then, that is a "real" problem.
