Great tips, I use a small grey card and set the zebras exposure to +41 and it works great for skin tone as well
If you expose the grey card at 41, bright skin should be around 50-55. Another method to get the exposure right 👍🏻

Thanks for sharing. Good to hear to apply a converting LUT first but you also do this when using Filmconvert you also use/have?
If you use FilmConvert, you don't need conversion LUTs anymore. The plugin does that for you.

What settings for 4K do you recommend so you can slow down smoothly in post?
Thanks for this useful video. If i have a character in my video and set the zebras to 52, how much the multimeter would be? May i have to expose to +1.7 or until zebras disappear. Did you try leeming lut? Nice video 👍
The multimeter doesn't matter if the zebra is correct.
Just picked mine up today. Pretty confusing coming from panasonic on how to turn VLOG on.. is there another way than simply choosing PP8? Does it apply a LUT automatically to the LCD screen? What is the best LUT when using the monitor.

Just always leave it to PP8. There is no reason to choose another picture profile on this camera. Turn view assist on and you get a lut preview but can’t change the lut.

for white balance setting, i want to know about your opinion better using a grey card or using a white card for setting a proper white balance ? and while shooting with S-LOG3 what happen when put the ISO below 800 ? because i realize we can shoot with S-LOG 3 with the lowest ISO on 200 ?
Grey card as it's easier to expose for it. If you put the ISO below 800, you loose dynamic range.

No, I never used this LUT. Just apple Natural, Tungsten or one of the other LUTs and do your correction before the LUT gets applied.

hallo!in slog 3, if i want to go for ex 6400 iso is there any noise?or to remail at 3200 as a base iso?
6400 is fine, you will see noise straight out of camera but after color grading it looks good.
Is it fcp or da vinci resolve?

Does it heat? My camera’s heating in any moment except foto mode. It’s ridiculous 😅 any video mode or just watching video from camera. Damn, I’m so confused about this a7 iv, want to give it back (((
Heat is normal on every camera if you shoot long enough. a7iv heats a bit quicker but doesn’t overheat under normal conditions.
so being the A7IV 10 bit when is it preferable to shoot HGL3 instead of S-Log3?

But you cannot change the white balance in camera after you record it. It doesn't record raw files like Blackmagic, etc...
Or am I missing something?
Ninja V if you need raw. Changing white balance in Slog3 in Resolve also works good unless it’s totally off.

1:01 I wish we also had 25p in XAVC HS 4K... 😔 The fact that Sony gives us only 50p makes us have to choose XAVC 4k and this one has 4:2:2 10 bits only in 200Mb/s 😳
So hard drives are filling us very quickly :/
Sony is very limiting Europe, we also don't have 30p equivalent, which I would love to have simply to film at 80% speed for b-roll and non-interview stuff :/
And impossible to change in between PAL and NTSC because of flickering and Sony ask for formatting the cards if we change 😔

If you're trying to show the settings, you may want to slow down enough to show what those settings are - not go through things as fast as you can

Yes! There’s a camera update for the a7iv that will help with that

@@MarkKidsley1989 there’s another setting in your camera where you can adjust the temperature over heating. I can’t remember which menu it is but it’s a simple fix
@@KiraMerrell yeah temp shut off set to high, still doesn't matter. with that off it overheats very quickly, but with off, it just delays it a bit longer
