nawww ngl ive been searching how to use slog 3 tutorials videos and this one was the best one so far. the way you explained was nice and simple and also straight to the point. your a life saver !
This is a great video, some really good info here especially for us slog rooks haha. If I may give a bit of feedback - it seems this video jumps into the steps with some assumptions for the viewer, such as the viewer knowing which editor you’re using, knowing what zebras indicate, knowing what “peak” is, knowing how MM/exposure compensation plays a role, knowing why we’re converting the footage from log to rec709 using gamma display assist even tho it was shot in slog3 (if those 2 differ, how so or in what way), etc. I know this video is meant as a quick & not necessarily an in depth review, but providing a bit of detail in some or most areas related to the process will be extremely helpful for beginners in actually understanding the process, which is (I hope) the goal of all of us who watch this video rather than memorization. I’ll check out some more of your videos.
Thank you for your feedback. Honestly, my workflow and experience has changed quite a bit this year and I’d love to do a follow up video. I’ll definitely consider what you’ve said ☺️🙏🏻
Thanks man. Been out of the game for a year now but picking things back up and this video is exactly the refresher I needed for shooting slog and a bit of Davince Resolve. Appreciate you 👌🏻
Thank you, thank you. I have been wrestling with my color grading in da Vinci. My shots are very dynamic (moving from exterior blue light to interior yellow low light) and so I've been trying to find a way to still run and gun without having to 1 trust AWB and 2 modify a manual wb real time. The real solution was having the correct color space applied. This has fixed so many problems for me and I don't know why it's not talked about more. Thanks a bunch!
Today was my first experience with video editing, and I really liked how you created the node to manage the work. Your explanation was excellent. Could you please create a video for complete beginners?
Good info. Thanks 😊 how do you find h.264 workflow in DR when having a big project vs H.265 or converting to ProRes LT/Proxy and grading that instead… on a Mac M2Max?
was so thankful I found this...I've always been afraid to even try using and log profiles for fear I'd mess something up, and so I've just been sticking to a wysiwyg style of shooting with the safe picture profiles on the Sony FS5. These tips (including the LUT) should just carry over, even though it's an older camera correct? Thanks for the nice clear, short and to the point video!
Generally it should carry over. Working with Log footage is quite consistent other than some tinkering. Older SLOG3 profiles might need some different work, especially on the cinema cameras. I’d look up specific guides to that camera 🙏🏻
brother can I ask something.. So you do your color edits in one clip, so after that you have to do the same process all over again or you just copy paste all the process to the rest clips? Except some special occasions like the sun you mentioned? Thanks a lot !!
Can I ask a question to some awesome knowledgeable commenter here? I’m super confused about something…. I have an FX30. To shoot in log, I understand I how to change it in “log settings,” yada yada yada. But what’s the deal with Picture Profile via Exposure menu? Can’t I also shoot in log going this route? When I change to log shooting in log settings, picture profile is greyed out. Is picture profile just so you can plug in an additional monitor? Can someone explain this to me? Sorry for being a dingbat. 🙏🙏
What do you think of people who choose Gamma 2.4 or 2.2 for output gamma? Do we have to pick 709 or Gamma 2.4 option for output gamma section? I am confused.
Rec 709 and Gamma 2.4 are just the standard in the TV and Movie industry. I just stick to it because when you play it on a TV you’ll get the most accurate contrast to what you were seeing when editing. I hope that makes sense!
Hi, i have question, if I record a clip in s-log-3, the size of the clip is bigger and more difficult to edit in post-production than a normal clip? thank u
I shot on slog3 for my first event and not sure I did it correctly. I made sure to keep my M.M between (+0.7- +1.3ish ) some shots came out super bright. Maybe I’m not coloring it right but it’s still super bright😢😅
Great video! Currently I'm using HLG3 - I've been told that, because my ZV-E10 is an 8-bit camera, working with HLG3 is more advisable than SLog-3. What do you think? But all the videos I've seen by people who shoot Slog-3 look so nice, including yours! so it makes me wonder if I might be able to achieve better results with Slog-3
Great video and explanation brother. What is the best way to contact you by the way? I messaged you on Instagram because I had a question about the lut, not sure if you’re active on there.
One of the best creators in this space. While being informative, your content is also an inspiration to a new videographer like myself.
Damn THANK YOU 😭😭

@BryceKoebel I came here to say the same thing! Thank you so much for this lol ❤
I don't often comment... but this was a great tutorial. All of the general tips as to how to expose AND color grade Slog3 are right here. gj.

So I’ll colour one clip yes, then copy and paste the grade over others. But then I’ll go into each individual clip and do touch ups from there.
This is the best video so far for me! You deserve a sub!!
I appreciate that!! 🙏🏻🙏🏻
thanks Bryce! Love your workflowwww
I appreciate you!!
I keep coming back to this video , your videos in general are real , awesome to watch and very informative. Thanks for sharing your secret sauce. ✌🏻
Dang thank you so much!! I really appreciate that 🥲🥲

awesome video ! tons of great tips in here. Seen you were useing the sigma primes. How was the auto focus with them?

Bro your videos are awesome. Keep on putting in the work!
Thank you!!
thnaks for explanation
With video it’s clear. However do you use something like slog3 for photos ? Because in phot mode I didn’t find something like pp8, pp8 and etc
Hi, i have question, if I record a clip in s-log-3, the size of the clip is bigger and more difficult to edit in post-production than a normal clip? thank u
Well said! I wish I used Adobe so I could follow along with your walkthrough. It would be awesome if you did a walkthrough on colorgrading using FCPX!
I’ve never used FINAL CUT! I’d check out a guy named Eric Lenz 💪 he’s a colourist that uses FCX
@@BryceKoebel gotcha! thanks for the plug 🤝
Good content. I use A7iv and I find this very useful. Thank you
Keep the videos coming!
Great video... This helped me so much...
Im still having issues when I shoot in slog3 my footage looks so grainy, despite having the right settings as followed in the video
I shot on slog3 for my first event and not sure I did it correctly. I made sure to keep my M.M between
(+0.7- +1.3ish ) some shots came out super bright. Maybe I’m not coloring it right but it’s still super bright😢😅
Will natty work on canon r5 slog3?
this should help a ton, thanks
Will this Natty lut work on my Sony a7III's slog3? will it look different on 8bit slog? I kinda want to try this lut cuz it looks great.
It will still work, but it won’t look the same as your cameras 8 bit sensor is different
Great video! Currently I'm using HLG3 - I've been told that, because my ZV-E10 is an 8-bit camera, working with HLG3 is more advisable than SLog-3. What do you think? HLG3 is for sure the best for 8 bit cameras 🙏🏻
Purchase option is not available for India. Great video, keep it up.
Thank you, will buy your luts :)
Thank you so much!!
Why do my scopes go above 640? How do I keep it around 100
you are really good bro
I like the NATTY look, on your page instructions, you don’t have Final Cut process ?
What is best way to use with Final Cut ?
I’ve never used Final Cut 😭 however there should be a way to change the colour space and then also had a LUT. Sorry!
hi, can i use same camera settings in my a6400 ? 4 slog3
Hello I film with a sony Fx3 in Slog 3 what luts is good, I am going to Japan in October I want to make beautiful videos and a good colors

I am! Still a great stills camera and b-cam
isn't base ISO on that camera 800 ? or even 800 and 3200?
That’s what’s confusing me, mine is greyed out till 800
Great video
My camera's gamma was on i thought S-log3 is not working. So i just turn off.
The footage looks wkd
Wicked*??
@@JesusChristSaves. yeah I used wkd an abbreviation. It’s really clean footage. Is it because of s log?
Thanks ☺️
Yeah - And then color corrected after@@DimmyV

Great video and explanation brother. What is the best way to contact you by the way? I messaged you on Instagram because I had a question about the lut, not sure if you’re active on there.
