  • Today I'm going to show you how to make this creamy coleslaw with plenty of crunch.
There's no need to buy a big tub of coleslaw with an annoyingly short expiration date when you can whip up a perfect sized batch of homemade coleslaw in 5 minutes.
So good as a side for summer barbecues and lazy lunches, or as a topping for pulled pork and crispy chicken burgers.
Full recipe including hints and tips here: www.kitchensan...
    Ingredients for the Coleslaw:
1/2 a large (or 1 medium) white cabbage
    2 medium carrots - peeled
    1/4 brown onion - peeled
    1 cup (240g) mayonnaise
    3 tbsp sour cream
    1 tbsp white wine vinegar
    1/2 tsp salt
2 tsp sugar - granulated or superfine
    1/8 tsp mustard powder
    Pinch white pepper

I made my own Coleslaw, I just made it up as I went along.
    I don't add any sugar.
    You don't need it!!
First time i made it, it was amazing!!

Homemade coleslaw is so much better than pretty much every coleslaw you buy from a supermarket and it's way cheaper. Add in some sultanas (gold raisins in the US) for a touch of sweetness.

My ingredients are Cabbage , carrot,Scallions ,(Spring onion) lemon juice, mayonnaise 😋😋 try a shredded knife for to cut the cabbage thinly, grade the carrots , slice the scallions thinly to, add the lemon juice , then the Mayo , mix thoroughly in a large bowl if you have a pair of vinyl gloves just perfect to get stuck in, let it rest in the fridge for half hour even tastier the next day 😋

"Sweat" the slaw in advance to draw out the water, and if the carrots or red cabbage is soaked in water in advance, it will drain the colors so it won't bleed into the slaw later.

Eeewwww. . .sugar NEVER belongs in salad OR dressing. Gives a cloying flavor that goes AGAINST vegetables, but suit yourself.

try Creme fraiche in place of the sour cream plus I would mix the dressing before adding it to the slaw and add some apple

Add a teaspoon of fresh ginger to that. Also, add some apple or pear leftovers. But do add fresh ginger. You'll never go back.

I used to make this by the 5 gallon bucket every 3 days at the restaurant I last worked at. We didn't use onion because some customers complained about onions.

My guy tossed it in the bin when he tasted the onions in your coleslaw. He told me I had committed a crime against nature and his mama would never put an onion in coleslaw. Restarted from scratch (thank goodness I still had 1/2 a cabbage) and made it without the onions and added 1/2 teaspoon of sugar and 1/2 teaspoon of vanilla. It passed muster... He almost ate the entire bowl himself. No onions, no onions, no onions!

Its so nice that i didnt have to fast forward, to get to the process. It is excellent. Resonantly tried 5 different recipes. like this one the best. I chopped my cabbage and carrot in food processor. i like the super small chunks.

I never thought to use grated onion. Nice. Sometimes I use buttermilk instead of the sour cream or part of the sour cream.
