To those that are getting the bottom screen showing red and freezing, make sure you have the USM file on the SD card. Check out the guide in the description that writes the steps. You'll see a picture of the files needed on the SD card and it'll link to the USM file. Took me like an hour to figure that small detail out lol

@@bigmandavid2403 I was going crazy lol I knew I followed the video so didn't know what to do. I actually watched a different video and found my mistake. Then searched the written forum to find the USM file. Then it worked flawlessly.

The modding community is awesome and it's great to see new (or non-public) exploits being released so soon after a Nintendon't update. That being said, I'm grateful all my devices have already been modded and are on the latest Luma3DS. This procedure looks like a (small) pain in comparison to the earlier methods. Still fantastic work.
do you know where the unsafe file is?
I know this video was released a while ago, but if anyone is attempting this before the eshop shutdown like I am then PLEASE save yourself some headache and just follow the text guide. A couple of the links are wrong in the description and I thought I ruined my 3ds for a couple hours there. Only after doing some research did I figure out I had some wrong files.

For those who have 2 (or more) folders inside the Nintendo 3DS folder, you need to rename the existing Nintendo 3DS folder to something else like BACKUP_Nintendo 3DS, insert the sd card into the 3DS and boot it up (you won’t have any of your sd card games or theme info, this is normal, you didn’t lose anything so don’t worry) then wait for the 3DS to create home menu management stuff on the sd card, which will create a new Nintendo 3DS folder containing the correct ID0 code you will have to use

im having an issue where when you are supposed to power on your 3ds with the combination of buttons, and change the proxy settings, it froze like he said it would (but only the bottom half of the screen was red (no other colors appeared)), and when i restart it like he said to, it didnt do anything different.
after posting this i found a comment that resolved the issue. refer to James Hickman's comment from around 10/22.

I could not find the unsafe file and every time I would try to download it again it would just keep downloading the DSi software file folder

Hi Blaine! Love all your tutorials and have used them exclusively on all my devices. Would you consider doing a video detailing how to update existing 3DS jailbreak, PSVita, etc on older firmware? It would be great to have clarity on what apps need to be updated (i.e. Luma, an existing older enso jailbreak) as well as the dos and donts. Would really love your guidance for us noobs!

For the 3ds, if you’re on luma v11 and up then you can safely update your 3ds, if it’s under v11 then you gotta change the boot file of luma on your sd card then update the 3ds
i repeated safe mode process it only flashes red in the lower screen
when i open dsi ware on sd card it says "An error has occurred forcing the software to close The system will not restart" please help

Hi, if you haven't figured this out yet it may be listed as DSIWARE_EXPLOIT. Opposed to UnSafeMode. I was having the same issue.

this had more steps than the ruins of chichenitza and really took it out of me and left me exausted, so when i finally softmodded the original 2ds, gave it away to my niece.
this is without a doubt the most difficult softmod of any console i've had to do.
not going through that again.

When I go to SD card to press it it tells me error an my 3ds restarts
system tray is where the clock etc are, where the tasks such as file explorer minimize down to is called the taskbar

The injector webiste is just a rickroll now.
Copy the in link into your browser then look at his video and complete the link make sure you search the link and not immediately go into it from the search bar it will just show the video again if you do so 4:18

Thank you for this. But the "SO EASY" part becomes somewhat relative after a few minutes of this video. I mean, when I jail broke my wii consoles, each one using a different method, there were much fewer steps and long codes.

About a month ago I downloaded custom firmware to my new 3Ds xl.
I was gonna download a new file when I accidentally deleted everything on my sd card.
I still have luma installed but none off the apps/games I had before.
I can’t find a way to download fbi and the other homebrew apps again.
Do u know how I can redownload the apps?

Hi, i have a question. I currently have a JP 3DS XL/LL, when I'm done doing the cfw does it automatically change the system language to US? or do i have to tweak some settings to change it?

you did not include anything about downloading the unsafe mode or food43ds. there is no link in your description. This tutorial becomes completely useless at that point.

I had a Japanese 3ds and trying to get it working with emulators was painful. This update seems simpler. Might get a vanilla 2ds to hack.

I don’t understand what I’m doing wrong. I move ash the files across and when I go settings dsi ware and sd card. It thinks for a bit but stays on the normal day screen and shows loads of ? In boxes. Doesn’t go black and offer me inject haxx. I’m using a 2nd the original wedge shape one. I’m naming the folders exact and moving them all where they should be? Any help?

For anyone who is getting hung up at the Exploit Injector because the URL included in the video and the description doesn't work anymore (the nhnarwahl link), change the first "3ds" to "3dstools" and you will get to the updated URL.
Well now there is just error 404 on the new site
I there was missing steps in this guide. I ended up going to the hacks guide website and following that. Much easier.
something dont add up. you want us to fat32 format the sd card but then ask us to enter the sd card later and then the nintendo folder is still there. how. if you format it wont the folder be deleted?
Need a little help might have messed up along the way when it came to sysnad virtual and essential.exefs copy to 0 gm9 out it asked to me overwrite because something was already in there I hit yes, and the gm9 out folder did not include the two files that you have that start with QW boot 9 and 11 bin, was wondering if I messed up badly?

Hey, so the link for the exploit injector doesn't work (it takes me to a rick astley video... for some reason). So I went and manually put the website in myself and the folder that I download isn't called UnSafe but rather DSIWARE_EXPLOIT. I hope this doesn't cause problems with the process.
also the bin that i download is called F00D43D5.bin. I am gonna try it and see???

Hello I have the galaxy 3DS XL. I bought a 128 gb card and inserted it blank (new) into the 3DS while it was on and connected to the internet. Then I turned it off and took the card out to put it in my laptop, when I went to it, there was no ‘Nintendo Ds’ folder and I have a Mii profile. Any advice or help?

My 3DS was jailbroken years ago. How do I go about updating everything to the current version? When I loaded up Luma it said version 11.0 was available but when I tried clicking on it, it said an error had occurred and did not update.

when I got to the dsi management part I clicked sd card and it just came up with bar with a question mark but didn’t start any ideas on how to fix this? I was on 3ds hacks guide and it just told me to make sure the files were right and in the right places and it still didn’t change
Also I’m using a 2ds with 11.17 so that is probably the main issue here
