This was the first curry I ever ate and 25 yrs later its still my favorite. My mum was rushed to hospital and our neighbor took me in and looked after me for a couple of days. I was really upset, but on the first night we had this with chapatis and although I wasn't used to the spice, it was the tastiest thing I had ever eaten; such a bad and good memory at the same time. Thanks for the recipe x
I'm not an overly emotional person but this comment genuinely made me tear up - a child being taken in by neighbours - the sharing of resources such as time, shelter, food and love - the whole village to raise a child idea - just perfect. My mum was in hospital for 3 months in 1977 over the summer when I transitioned from primary to secondary. My dad worked long hours, the neighbours tutted that I was running feral, but not one of them fed me anything more substantial than an ice lolly. I'm assuming you're in the UK Edward, but maybe not, but I feel here we lost much of our community spirit post-war, and our vibrant migrant populations have so much to teach us to rekindle it.
I'm a retired pro chef and purposely, I've avoided learning your stunning cuisine because it was always my after work treat on a Saturday evening. I believed if I mastered the technique I'd fall out of love with it. The mystery of its preparation was a big factor of my appreciation and love of curries. Nowadays I'm setting out on my South Asian cuisine adventure and you and your channel are helping me greatly. I've seen the BIR chefs on here and they're not as authentic as you in my opinion. I made this today and I adored it - my teen daughter had to drink a few more glasses of squash but she still cleaned her plate. HUGE THANK YOU AND KEEP UP THE BRILLIANT WORK
My favorite dish has always been keema mattur, especially the way my mum made it. She passed away a few years ago, and I’ve missed having it because no one could ever make it as perfectly as she did. But I made it myself for the first time last week using this video, and Alhamdulillah, it the closest I’ve had to how my mum made it. Thank you.
Great video says the "old white guy” - that’s me. My first ever experience of Pakistani food was at a work mates house 40yrs ago when I gifted him some exercise equipment, his mum fed me keema matar - I will never forget the amazing taste. She too apologised for speaking Punjabi, which made me feel awkward because I never thought it odd that I spoke English - it’s my language and you should never feel the need for saying sorry for speaking yours. Ever since I have been trying home recipes like yours to bring back that memory. I will be cooking this tonight😂
Hi, I discovered you by accident on RUclips and just finished cooking this meal. I hardly ever comment on videos but this recipe is absolutely delicious!! I substituted peas for green beans and added some potato. I will definitely be trying more recipes!!! Thank you! ❤
Today is Mother’s Day 2023 my first without my mum .. she passed away end of last year suddenly with pulmonary Fibrosis I decided in memory of her to find a kheema recipe thank you your bubbly character really cheered me up and I’m now making it and it’s turned out delicious and I’m having it with Rice but I used Turkey instead just for health reasons just wanted to share that with you 😔🙏🏼💜
I'm making this for my Sunday dinner. Your recipes are delicious, not overly complicated, and I love how you give step by step instructions and also heat setting. I'm beginning to enjoy cooking now, thank you 😊
Been watching you guys for ages and I have to say it’s such a wholesome great informative channel. I have many recipes saved including this one. God Bless
I grew up in south Asia. This was a staple. Your recipe is a nice upgrade. I live in iowa now and my friends are always impressed with my south Asian food. I love keema but I am going to try it exactly like you made. It was always a staple in the house. Thank you for the video.
I've just made this curry and followed the steps and it has turned out to be the best keema curry i've tasted !!.. its a classic dish with lots of flavour ... just remember to follow the instructions to the letter and you cant go wrong .. especially cooking off the excess water which seals all the flavour ..10 out of 10
I would like to express my heartfelt thanks for sharing your cooking dishes and ideas. You've simplified Pakistani cooking and all your meals look mouthwatering 😋.
I found you about two weeks ago. I am so glad I did. I love curry but am not so good at being consistent with the flavouring. I made this today...... it is beautiful and I now know what you mean by the 'level of flavours'! Thank you and get a cookbook happening, I will be first in line to buy for me and anyone else I can think of!
Making this on the weekend, it's the 4th time I have made it. I use about 2kg of mince and the multiply all the ingredients by 4. Meals for next week done. Me and the wife love this recipe, thanks Shamza.
Hi, Just wanted to say Thankyou so much for sharing your fantastic easy to follow receipe. I am currently on day 5 of having covid and feel horrendous but my husband is going to cook this for me tonight following your instructions cant wait as its just what i need 👍😘
I’m no cook, but I gave this a try today and it worked out very well despite being short of a couple of ingredients. Your video and instructions are very clear. Thanks.
I made this today and it’s the nicest Keema and pea curry I’ve ever tasted. Thank you for sharing your knowledge and expertise. I love your videos. Clearly explained instruction, fabulous camera work and a joy to watch.
I made this today with the add on of potatoes and wow it was a hit - even with my fuzzy eater husband and kids. Your receipes are great, very simple to follow and finally I am learning how to cook desi food thanks to you. Keep it up x
absolutely loved this, followed it step by step - and surprised myself . . I'm a total novice to cooking but you made this very easy to follow, with ingredients, Timing, Gas Temp - great vid . . .
I usually make BIR curries and this is the first I have made from your recipies. OH MY WORD. It was AMAZING!! I accompanied it with your recipe for naan breads too. Kids said this was the best naan's i have made to date. I will certainly be following your recipies closer. Thank you 🙂
Tried this tonight with minced chicken and it was delicious. Your recipes are easy to follow and all the spices blend together perfectly. I’ll be trying lots more thanks 🙏🏻
@@MyLittleKitchenRecipes it’s my daughters and mine favourite of all time, we did another batch and it’s now in the freezer, we are making your garlic chilli chicken later ❤️
Another fantastic, authentic recipe. The sweetness of our British peas is great with spices, I do a prawn and pea dish I enjoy. My chapatis/paratha are much improved thanks to you.
Sep 2024 - Just now cooked this, just added some coconut milk (from powder) to bring chilli heat down for the Mrs Excellent recipe, as always, - served with spiced wedges.
Made this tonight and it was absolutely fantastic, highly recomended, and eating it with chapatti is the only way for me. I added a teaspoon of cumin to the spice mix and a piece of casia bark. Also i used good quality italian tinned tomatoes and a sploge of tomato purae.
This is one of my favourite dish with white rice; we have this meal as one of our traditional weekends; every month along with Mutton and chicken pilau and even gosht with mix veg curry and white rice! ❤
Thanks for the recipe, my keema matar turned out great, I usually take inspiration from an online recipe and than add my own mix which is what I did today. I like mine more Punjabi home style meaning no garam masala, cardamom, bay leaf but heavy on the ginger, garlic, spice, tumeric, cilantro. Thanks for the inspiration, 5 out of 5!
Hello ! I’ve just found your channel looking for a keema recipe! What a great channel you have ! I’ll be making this for my lady this evening! Many thanks
Hi shamza I made your keema, it was the business, I am from rochdale its got a large Asian community I have been brought up eating packistani food all my neighbours where packistani , I've been cooking curry all my adult life so I half know what I'm talking about your keema is gorgeous most chefs don't emphasise the importance of the bhuna process where as you do. I will make your lamb chop karahi next can't wait your curry is absolutely awesome as soon as I watched your video I thort yes this is the chef I've been looking for thank you very much for your recipes I'm going to cook all that I like. Your an inspiration keep it up.
John, thank you so much for your wonderful comment! Made my day reading that! Small details like bhuning the meat are so important as they contribute to the dish and it's overall taste. Thank you so much and I hope you enjoy the next dish!

Love the videos, made your Spinach the other day, was perfect thank you. Can I ask, most curry recipes also use cumin powder, I noticed that you don't use cumin powder along with your corriander powder often, is there a reason for that?
Thanks. The reason why I don't add cumin powder is because my garam masala that I add at the end is heavily cumin based, so I'll just be duplicating the flavours.

Hi Edward, bless atleast you'll never forget your first curry experience 😊👍
It's such a wonderful dish.
My neighbour taught me how to make chapaties and she used to give us a lot of what she cooked, all gorgeous.
