My mom made this for me every Friday night for dinner never took the time to learn how she made it. When she got Alzheimer’s I taught myself to make it . When I take the first bite I think about the love that she put into her cooking. Thank you for your spin learnt a couple new things
Rivalry! Nah, it's so interesting to watch, some really good tips, though I still rate my mum's cooking & teaching, and I'm still able to stun some with my dishes! 😉 All said in jest 😉
This was the one recipe my dad used to make us but simpler . Mince , onion . garlic , curry powder, garem masala , fresh green chilli and peas. We used to toast pitta breads cut in half butter well and fill 💗 My favourite
Sounds great I shall try that...I will put anything in a buttered pitta bread you can't go wrong ...could prob put a pitta bread in a pitta bread like a Russian doll it be nice lol...have you ever tried falafel in a pitta bread with homous and salad thats a good veggie one bit chilli sauce
I dismissed this dish on first viewing, then made it with left over mince. It is AMAZING. Incredibly flavourful and so satisfying. Ranks up there with Latif's biryani recope for me
My mum used to make this fir us many years ago. She would add the peas and serve it with rice. It was absolutely delicious and got my bro and I eating BIR type food from very young. This dish is quite remarkable in its flavour - it really does set your tastebudes tingling with excitement.
We make something very similar but for the Indian spices called Picadillo. It was a staple in my Mexican household growing up. All I would need do is change the spices and pick up some naan instead of tortillas and I can add another Indian dish to my repertoire! I've learned so much following your channel. Thanks, chef Latif!
Asalaamalykum Latif,I was taught to cook the punjabi version of this, slightly different method .Delicious for sure and i am a white guy who likes this sort of cooking following my travels as airline crew. Shukriya.

Exiled Bradfordian here. Keema always takes me back to my first curry after a punk gig at the university. We’d been to see Vice Squad and it got a bit tasty near the end of the show. We legged it down the hill when the rozzers turned up and dived into a place called the Moonlight. I think the bhajis cost 25p and the keema about a quid. Chapattis and salad included.
My first Bradford curry was enjoyed in the Kashmir back in 1989 after a gig at the 1 in 12. Became a regular ritual until I moved away in 2004. My last visit was in 2018 and I'm due another when all the covid stuff dies down.
Great memories of Bradford for me. I was there in 1975 and we used to eat at the Karachi Club for £2, where the keema was the best I have ever tasted and salad and roti were included.
Years ago ( a lot) I was sent to Goa to help rebuild some infrastructure from floods etc. Before going, could not put pepper on my food. 3 month later, after having to eat some of the most amazing tasting food in villages one of my 2 favourite dishes, Keema and Highway chicken curry. It took me another 25 years to learn how to cook, seriously, I set the kitchen alight twice and could cremate toast. But could never get Keema in a restaurant to taste like how I remembered (forget HCC, never gona happen). So I got some lessons and followed this. 30 fricking years later I am back in Ganjem. Grats
I did your butter chicken last night I’m studying now because I’ve got ground beef in my freezer and I’m doing this soon thanks for sharing authentic recipes they’re delicious! I’ll do things a little different at home. Instead of water and fresh tomatoes I’ll add a can of crushed tomatoes and add water to the can and put that in. The basics are all here though for a wonderful curry.
I usually make Latif's mother's recipe and his recipe for Keema, but tried this out, because I only had ground beef on hand. It was wonderful as usual. TBH, all three were perfect!!!! The only thing I would change is too remove the skins of the tomatoes, put in boiling water for one minute or so, before using in the Keema. My hubbie has a thing about tomato skins in a dish, so I make sure to keep him happy. Thank you, Latif. Greetings from Ft. Worth, TX.
We’re on the same wavelength Latif, just took some beef out the freezer last night and the mincer out of the cupboard, made this a fortnight ago and I’ve been telling everybody how good it is. (made from an earlier recipe with 800g ) awrabest

Yum. Love a bit of mince cooked this way. Will definitely give it a go, inshaAllah. We are currently in the middle of our monsoon season, with rain bucketing down. This is comfort food.
I'm not sure how your channel came to be recommended by RUclips, but I'm glad it was and at a time when I had been thinking about curry and craving it greatly. I knew I'd not cooked one for a long time, because I lost my mum in September and know I hadn't made one since. For an eighty something Welsh woman displaced to Manchester she was adventurous with food and loved curry. Cooking them makes me think of her and the curry nights she used to do for her brother whenever he visited, when we were kids. Your channel has inspired me to cook curry again. I've employed some of your techniques in the curry I made the other night, especially the way you cook your onions down, giving them plenty of oil and plenty of time with the garam marsala. Not sure what curry I made, it was a bit of a hybrid of the video and the type of curry I like to make whenever I go camping. Thank you buddy, I'll be taking inspiration from your videos from now on, there's so much to explore. My mum would have approved.
Pro-tip...Freeze the ginger and grate it frozen. Retains all the juices and grates real fine and remains fresh......Love all your recipes by the way. Thanks from, Brum.
Great recipe, can also make this with lamb or veggie mince and brown off in the oven for 20 mins with shredded fried onion on top, serve with roti & yoghurt 👍

I made this recipe last night and it is perfect, I plan on making it again this weekend for samosa filling. Definitely my favorite you tube channel now.
my favorite thing my mom makes is a keema almost identical to this one. layers upon layers of ingredients and flavors. my friend recently sent me a NYT recipe for keema he made - i’m going to send him this video and tell him this is how it’s really done.
Made it yesterday, my husbannd who has Bangladeshi heritage was amazed. Never thought his Russian wife could grasp authentic Indian cuisine.
Props to him for snagging a Russian wife!
