While teaching a young man how to shoot his first slug gun, we had 5 different brands of slugs. He was so steady shooting for the first time I was very impressed but the shots were all over the paper. Example: open sights at 50 yards, and 1 foot low, and 1 foot to the left., but no tight groups. Knowing he was shooting well, and drawing from my past experience. I told him I would come back the next day with my favorite slug to use. Winchester! It grouped well, and he killed his first deer ( a running shot ) the next morning. I won't shoot Remmington, they are all over the paper for my gun, and also his. Enjoyed watching your video, and I think it is the brand of slugs.
Hey brother Jason here of J.T.s. Guns and Ammo. First of all man sweet gun!!! I think with a rifed choke you will see 1 to 1 1/2 inch groups at 100 yes. I know that the barrel is smooth bore but I have cut barrels for tru-choke dimensions and put in the tru-rifled choke from Carlson and man I'm telling you that's the ticket!! I have done several like this and seem to have consistent results. Just thought I'd tell u about it maybe it would be something you can have done in your neck of the woods. Have a great one wtw!
Sagaia makes rifle chokes for their shotguns in .410 if the barrel is thick enough and to specs it would be no problem to order reamer/ cutter for Saira specs and thread pattern. It is totally possible. Hope this helps
Man that thing holds 1" groups at 1" lol. Love the shotgun!
That's whole lotta scope for that shotgun
6” to the left, and 6” to the right should have been a bulls eye.
That’s almost line dancin’. 2 steps forward 1 step back 🤔🤣🤣🤣🤣
🤣
Obviously he meant 6 left and 6 high
Omg Make this quote a shirt 👕 😆
I can't describe how much I want this gun in my life
Dang with that size scope you should take that to 1000yds lol
Lol
xD
That has to be the coolest 410 ever.
😍😍😍
A 410 with zoomies? Sign me up!
No gun is complete without at least 1.5 zoomies
That 410 looks beautiful
😍😍😍
Adam I must admit that I look forward to seeing your late evening videos. Aside from being cool gun stuff, the music at the beginning of each video is relaxing before I go to bed. Excellent channel brother!
Really appreciate you watching
It’s my nightly ritual. Look forward to your videos
This is going to be awesome..🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸 Been waiting to see the 410 at 100 yards..
Hey Jeffrey!
When I was a kid I shot 410s out of a 45 70 trap door Springfield rifle. A little scotch tape on the shell to keep it from moving forward and then knock out the empty with a ramrod. lol
Iv shot 410 smooth bore single shots with slugs at 100 yards and had groups good enough to kill a deer with Remington rifled slugs. It's that gun that dont like slugs
That was a funny as hell but will never use a 410 for deer unless i can put the barrel in his eye socket lol
They need to make this combo with the 454 casull . That would be the fun to have
Good idea you should patten that idea before someone else does make it like the judge or govoner
@@robdegraw1568 raging judge but they don't have it in a carbine
Won't work. The 410 is exactly that a 410 bore so a 454 projectile is too big. The reason the judge works is because its a 45 bore with rifling cut to 454. Yes you can shoot 410 out of a judge but the the 410 slugs dont even touch the rifling and just tumble
A very good idea, then You should have a good SHTF gun, a lot of 45s will fit, and .410 shotgun for close range on small game at 15 to 20 yards.
Those of You how know, could You fire the 45 cap with a single shot moon clip in a .45 Colt revolver?
A crappy day at the range, is still better than a good day at work!
Those slugs were tumbling horribly, so I’d say that the $50 you spent on em wasn’t $50 well spent, but I’m sure you still had fun and that’s what counts.
Not for lack of trying 😂😂 you’re the man WTW!
😝😝😝
And that's why rifling was invented!
I absolutely love my Rossi Circuit Judge. 16 inch barrel with stock for those that don't know. 45 Colt lot easier to find. Cheaper too these days.
I've always wanted a marlin/rossi circuit judge. Shame they r out of production. Never shot .45 long out of one but they are an amazing squirrel gun w cheap (relatively) target loads. Been bugging my buddy to buy his for about 10 years now lol.
Good learning video. Might try a slug that has rifilng on it. They usually do better in a smoothbore in 20 or 12 gauge. Heard a lot of good things on Hawke Optics. Thanks for spending time to make us happy. 😊
9 shots with that is the equivalent accuracy of 1 shot with nine pellet 00 buck.
Man those last two shots were spot on. Well done Chris Kyle!! 😂
to me it seems like you have a rifle that has a cylinder that is not machined concentric meaning each bullet chamber is essentially a different rifle , try using only one chamber to sight it in to test this theory.
Very good idea
Excellent insight.
Damn, that's a good observation. Would have never even thought of that as a beginner. Learning guys, we always learn.
Do they have moonclips for revolver rifles?
As a young man I had good luck shooting slugs through my Mossberg 410 with full choke! I don’t think the Remington ammo is the problem
I so glad you pointblanked that thing. Lol
Tell me why I was driving today from the doctor and suddenly started singing the WTW theme song “…we like to shoot and make a little boom boom” 🎼 🎶 😂
😝😝😝
Willy:Tom im bit left of the deer 🦌.
Tom: (shoots at the deer) u ok willy
Willy: agggrrhhhhhh
From Illinois where it's either slugs or muzzleloader. Mark this down as I probably will never say this again. Know it's expensive but in my experience with the foster slugs in a smooth bore shotgun you will need to shoot minimum of 30 slugs to get buildup of lead on the bore that will make the slugs spin. Take my word as several years ago cleaned the barrel of my old Ithaca deerslayer and couldn't hit a buck standing still at 30 yards. That i just grazed right above the hoof reason I know I shot him 2 weeks later after about 30 slugs thru the barrel. Friend of mine had the same experience. That gun will consistently shot 2 inch groups at 100 yards. Might try that and see if that works. With clean barrel i always said I couldn't hit the side of the barn door standing in the barn. Lol That gun has taken deer around 200 yards if the barrel is dirty and I do my job. Personally like the Brenneke slugs as they've built to start spinning. Just a thought before you give up on that gun
I’ve never found smoothbores to be all that accurate. Someone suggested a rifled choke, which I definitely have had great experiences with relatively. I think it was a Carlsons.
Smoothbores are good to 125yrds sometimes 150yrds in certain guns I own one
Buffalo Outdoors did real well with a rifled choke tube. No-one makes one for a Henry .410!
Those two last shots were great 👍
It's hard to get 100 yards from most slugs. With a smooth bore I could only get 4" groups out to 75yards. And with a rifled slug gun the same is true for most rounds. Except some sabots. I haven't tried many but I can shoot dead on at 100yards with the federal sabots (barns expanders). Not saying you're luck with different gun and ammo won't be different. Was just what I learned since I make my own slugs and taken apart many. Nice video!
That's a nice and interesting looking shotgun. Either those slugs had inconsistent powder charges or that gun just doesn't like those slugs. On the target camera you can see dirt fly where they were hitting so low.
For when the .50 BMG is not enough lol
Reminds me of my old Drill SGT teaching me how to zero an M16. "What's 4 up the left side and 4 up the right? 8 up, with the dumbass! Do a push-up (by which he meant keep pushing until I tell you to stop. He was Cuban:).
Everyone seems to be blaming the ammo for inconsistent shots, but this shotgun is a smooth bore. There is no rifling to impart spin and stabilize the slugs. He should have tried bird shot and buck shot to check the patterns. This is about the same accuracy I can get out of my Mossberg 500 that's chambered in .410, there's no rifled barrel for that unless I get a custom made one. Now, there are a few ammo manufactures who turn out a rifled slug for .410, and they work somewhat decently. Brenneke USA has a couple loadings that I like.
Not bad, minute of barndoor, from the inside!
Howdy Adam!! I bought one of those same shotguns after Heavy Metal did his video. I really like it. The real issue you're having here really is that you are shooting slugs at 100 yards in a smooth bore shotgun barrel rather than a rifled barrel shotgun barrel. Considering that they are smooth bore shotguns that's not bad shooting partner... They just aren't made for the accuracy with slugs like you're trying to achieve. That is good to know though before I haul mine up to Alaska.... it's really for shorter range encounters, maybe more for small game (spruce hens (grouse) and rabbits????
The way you started I didn't think you were ever going to hit the plate. Good thing you had two rounds left....
Wow those last two shots were awesome! 🤣
I think 100 yards is a bit much for a slug. Asspecialy a 410.
Hey but why not, haha
Greatest ending ever. Lol
Which do you prefer, this revolving 410 shotgun, pump action 410, or a semi-auto?
That’s very high for 410 slugs but I have not been able to find any at ant price
That was fun. Nobody can say that you didnt knock the center out of it. And not once, but twice. :-D :-D ;-D
The cylinder gap shield is an excellent addition. A leather sleeve was used with the old Colt revolving rifle to save wear and tear on the shirt sleeve and arm.
Have some FUN...tape a small bag of Catsup (Ketchup) in the center of the plate...use the Ketchup packs that you receive when you buy a Hamburger...
That's a weird condition but I dig it
Try it with a regular 410 shotgun maybe the cylinder movement has something to do with it I've had real good luck with my Mossberg 410 and it wasn't as inconsistent as the one you were shooting
At first I was thinking the title shoulda been " When your 3 shot group is HOA ( Hour Of Angle) instead of MOA.
I like your trial and error way of sighting in the slug gun.would like to see this slug gun made in 410 .3 inch magnum.
You might have ended up with some idea what it was doing if you'd shot more than 1 time before adjusting. For anyone wanting a good .410 get the Henry lever action.
Gave it all, appreciate ya.
I was really impressed with the last 2 shots. Grouped really well.
Yeah it's kind of unfair to judge a guns accuracy that isn't properly sighted in and 100 yards is asking alot for a 410 it think.
My Henry 410 lever smooth bore does a good job with slugs at. 100 yards. I think it's the gun.
You say the gunb you have is a mooth bore, I have one of these and the barrel is rifled. When I want to shoot solids I use 45 LC which are accurate enough up to 100 metres. I wouldn't bother with 410 slugs.
I find this gun a very handy all round work horse for carrying around the property shooting mainly vermin but also ducks when in season. The 45 LC's are good on roos goats and pigs, so you can use the same gun to shoot pidgeons to pigs
Just saw this video for some reason. Then I had to google these. They make a rifled barrel gun, that’s the one you need. Put a red dot on that one for squirrels and rabbits. They are coming out with a 20 gauge model this year
Wow, it was all over the place
Ha ha ha Who, that last shot was funny. Hate to see that cool little gun not do better. Good shooting and gods speed to The Who family and fans. 👍🇺🇸
Love the videos. Just thought I'd throw it out there. Walmart sells a H&R pardner pump in 12 ga. The one we got shoots slugs out passed 100 yards consistently with the smooth bore. Worth checking in to if you are on a budget. God bless..
Thanks for watching George
An improved cylinder choke is the best for rifled slugs
Laughing is medicine for the heart thanks for the laughs this video had me cracking up 🤣🤣
You are a good shot that I know I be watching your videos. I like the revolver shotgun it’s a nice piece.
How do u like that hawke scope ?
I like it. Put it on a new rifle today
@@WHOTEEWHO as clear as other brands ?
My favorite part is 4 inches of eye relief (100mm)
Dead on at point blank, thanks for the videos and stay safe. { TAZZ} said to tell you hi.
Dead on at point blank every time!
That's a awesome looking revolver 410 shotgun I enjoyed the last two shots u for sure got 2 holes in the plate lol have a great day Adam 😎🔫💥💥🇺🇸
12 gauge at 100 yards will be cool to see, looking forward to that. Cheers and thanks for the vid!
No paper plates were harmed while making this video, well almost, hee-hee WTW
Well you got bout 2’ group brother! Nice gun though! ✌️
Hey WhooTee,
I am a BIG 410 fan as well !
But haven't been able to find this little Rev. anywhere, unfortunately, not even with your sponsor.
Please keep me in mind, I am very serious about owning one if possible ! 😎
Have you considered using that hawk powerful scope with our new 6.8 western. Should be fun
I would like to find the old 410 /45 long colt guns my dad talked about he had in the 1930's in a single shot or revolver.
I love my mossy 500 in 410 but it's not a 100 yard gun. I'm not a great shot and wouldn't want to shoot it past 30 yards, defense or hunting, with slugs .
Up closer it's a great balance between speed and power; wish someone would make an 18" 410 defensive pump, the ultimate all family firearm.
Keystone pump 410 has a 18.5” bbl
Revolving cylinder shotguns are nothing new. The Winchester Mod 1855 was chambered in both rifle & shotgun versions. First successful shotgun version produced in 1860, a 5 shot shotgun in 10 ga. Don't believe I'd want to fire that thing very much! LOL 😀
I love this.410 revolver! Awesome!!!
😍😍😍
Tough day! I'm not sure, but I think slugs out of a smooth bore would not be very accurate anyway. Whooteehoo
A 30 power scope on a .410.🤪 put a red dot on it bubba.
I had a Rossi judge I shot slugs and 45 out of and you were lucky to hit up Barn at 10 yards it's gone
Is the barrel rifled or does it have a paradox choke tube? Maybe your groups would be better with sabbots and a paradox choke.
Hey WTW, have you ever seen a winchester .223 super short magnum ? I've been trying to find someone on youtube with one of them to do a good review. I've been told the .223 WSSM aside from the crazy fast velocity it doesn't transfer much energy. The .243 WSSM is the real winner supposedly
The 25 wssm what was the most impressive in the smaller caliber the one with the best overall difference and gain was 270 wsm!
That 410 is awesome
I have the Canadian version with the 9" barrel and I can't hit shit even at 50 or 20 yards with slugs, they just don't seem to run the way they're supposed to. Even Hornady critical defense don't seem to be accurate.
Back to back bullseyes. Nice.
I don’t think I would take a deer hunting with those slugs
Wow looks cool :o
I love videos like this. Appreciate you WTW.
"These slugs aren't precision instruments". Dude no shlt, it's a shotgun, are you crazy?! Lol
I got a good excuse for missing the video. I was at academy getting boolats.
😆😆😆
That has to be a shotgun issue.
At least it looks awesome!🤣 Please bring out the 12 gauge slug gun!! 🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸
There are videos of accurate 410 slugs at 100 yards. Here is my hypothesis to explain your results.
Different manufacturers make their slugs in varying diameters less than .410". The idea is to permit the slugs to squeeze through a choke. But the 410 in your video is cylinder/unchoked. Perhaps the Remington Express rifled slugs are too small diameter to completely fill the barrel. If so, they may be rattling/bouncing around as they leave the barrel causing the erratic lateral results you experiences.
If that hypothesis is correct, then the solution is to find a type of slug with a slightly greater diameter that fits your 410's barrel more tightly.
@M Buchart @Who_Tee_Who- I have done lots of testing with 410 slugs. It’s my personal vendetta to kill a deer with one. You are 100% correct every mfr of 410 slug measures differently. Depending on the spec of your bore/choke determines the accuracy. The foster slug actually “mushrooms” a very tiny bit in the rear on discharge. I have owned 3 Mossberg 500s and tested all 3 side by side- each gun will shoot a different brand of slug differently!!
Most .410's are full choke. It has been my experience that full choke and rifled slugs do not like each other. Cool video though, I was very interested to see what happened.
I have a Henry that doesn’t do much better with the factory slugs but my own handloads using a cast .410” diameter NOE 139 gr. Diablo at 1700 fps will shoot inside of 5” at 100 yds. using a “Skeet” choke. At 50 yds. It puts 5 inside of 1-1/2”. The factory slugs are too much undersized (.375”) to be much good but handloading using Lil’gun or MP300 will change your mind about .410 slugs when you have the right sized slug.
Probably a full choke... And if it is, those rifled slugs aren't ever going to go where you want them.
That scope base is half off the rail. You need to move the base back so you get full contact and the scope forward in the rings. Bet dollars to doughnuts that’s the problem.
No doubt. That's a cantilever mount that is cantilevered off the end of the rail. My fishing pole is stiffer than that mount.
Stumbled across one 1 of ur videos about 6 six months ago been a fan n since
I love the 410 the first gun I ever shot
Suggestion: .700 Nitro Express milk jug test! Yeah, I know. Far fetched and very expensive, but...
If you dream, dream big!
Always fun to watch a feller chase bullet holes.
Love your ending shots. lol
