You must have accidentally got a Henry designed for California since it tends to shoot high and left.

It's good to know that Henry has two models of this .410 and they really should put your good suggestions in their shotguns. They would more than likely appeal to more buyers, I think.
Not everybody has perfect eyesight and being able to use a scope or other type of sight ( red dot ) would be the way to go with this model.

.410 is underappreciated and can be utilized by people who are smaller framed and recoil sensitive.

Even with cylinder bore, I saw 1.5” groups with these same slugs @50 yrds. in the 20” model. I did install a Skinner rear sight with a .095 aperture. With Federal 1/4 oz. slugs, I saw fantastic accuracy at 100 yards smashing clays on the bank...

Yes I had the 12 guage I traded my moss berg .22 semi automatic rifle to my brother and I kill lots of game with it. Plus it was $40 new and if I took it in the rain it didn’t matter S long as I cleaned and oiled it up when I got home. My neighbor kids father ran off with an 18 year old girl and left that family and since he was a kid younger than me I got the pleasure of teaching him safety and how to put food on the table if he needed to. I bet he still remembers those days as much as I do. Good friend.

I am actually quite intrigued by the new X-Model of the .410. With the ability to have the choke tube if I ever want to get out on some birds or deer in the field, and also shortened barrel for tighter wood walks for rabbits. The sideloading isn't necessarily a make or break aspect. Having some sort of wood furniture on it though would be nice.

410 is my favorite. First gun was a 410 single shot (H&R). I then bought a Stevens 555 over and under in 410 and now have the lever 24" from Henry. Thank goodness there are now handguns and 410 has regained some popularity. When I was younger, 410 was like the most expensive ammo. I used to mow lawns just to buy 25 rounds.

Apparently, Henry paid attention to your suggestion on drilling and tapping the longer barrel model. The new side gate loading one I just picked up is drilled and tapped. It takes a Weaver 63b scope base. Henry doesn't make a base for this gun as of my time of purchase but this base is recommended by Henry. It also fits Marlin 336 and Mossberg lever guns as well. It fit perfectly on my Henry. 21:05

I am looking at the Henry, the Rossi and the G Force. The quality of Henry is good, since I own a 22 Mag lever gun in that one.( wifes gun) actually bought it for her. Another thing is American made giving Americans jobs , that is important , but back to basics I feel I would really like the gun you just tested, good for buckshot and say #4"s in TSS for Turkeys. You really , put on a great video with much put into it which is so informative compared to many others doing the same thing. Thankyou Buffalo, loved it and I think you convinced me of which one I want , the one you just tested. It is something in todays world to see a nice lever gun with wood furniture that someday I know my grand daughters will enjoy when I am no longer here.

Your gun was appeared slightly canted to the left that will shift your aim slightly to the left, hold your aim with the gun straight and vertical and your aim will be more centered. Still with just a front bead, the accuracy is quite something. Got to love the shotgun any gauge versatilty is quite wide. Good video.

Agree on both suggestions! Looks like Henry Repeating Arms did drill and tape both versions now (2024). Still don’t have them both threaded however. Too bad. Guess I would personally go with the 24 inch barrel version. That way could throw on a red dot and use slugs or go bead for chicken hunting.

Thank you, Buffalo! I have the same Henry, and bought some Close Encounter slugs, although I was looking at the slightly heavier weight. I need to get it to the range and pattern it, and see how I manage with slugs. I really enjoy your tests with this shotgun, but I also want to use mine in the skeet field. I want to test sporting clays loads with different chokes to see the trade-off between pattern size and pattern density. Thanks for trying the Brenneke at 60 yards. I look forward to your next 410 video.

Thanks for the great comment! Sporting clays with a .410 is a real challenge! You must be a pretty good shooter to even attempt it!

    • @douglasmaccullagh7865
      @douglasmaccullagh7865 5 лет назад +1

Thanks for the compliment, but no, I am just crazy. I want to get smooth and fast with the lever, and doubles will force that. Skeet was hard enough when I had a self-loading 20 gauge! If I can score 4 out of 25, and learn to handle the gun, and have fun doing it, I will be happy. I had to give up the 20 gauge due to medical concerns related to recoil. A 28 gauge might have been better for sporting clays, but I wanted a 410 repeater with choke tubes. Like I said, I am just crazy.

It is legal for deer here in Ky and I know personally many hunters who take deer year after year with a .410 slug. So I agree with you 100%.

@@buffalosoutdoors man I have told people they dump hogs real good, and they look at me funny. Them slugs put good holes right in the ribcage,or a neck shot works real well.

Buffalo Great video great shooting I love videos especially because they just for the normal hunter and shooter and not many if any don’t take the time to do in-depth review of the 410 ammunition etc , I have the mossberg 500 it came with two barrels a silenced barrel and a normal one many thanks injoyed the video

They are very nice guns. I like shopping at Rural King. They have made some very pro gun statements on their social media accounts.

Wonder what the old guys at the skeet club would say if you showed up with that?

A taller bead would take care of the elevation and a sturdy forked tree would handle the windage.
