Thanks Aaron. This series is exactly what I have been looking for. As a hobbiest, I have used Sketchup for years, and become quite good at it. However, Layout has always been a mystery to me, so looking forward to this series. I have watched many of your Sketchup videos, and your presentation style is awesome. I always learn something new.

    Aaron
Even though I have been using LayOut for both simple and relatively complex projects (construction docs) with 13-24 x 36 pages successfully, it took a lot more time to get to the same finished product as compared to AutoCad. I wrote that off to the learning curve. I got reasonable results, but it's a time spent issue.
So.....even though I've been able to make LO go, I still need assistance with the little secrets that are not obvious. This series hopefully will help alleviate the frustrations. I love using SU as my go to design software.
Personally, I feel a complete LO project of some complexity would be wonderful!
I have an example of my most ambitious project if you might like to see it. Everything from the Site Plan thru the Electrical is included on 15 sheets.
It went out to the site and was built with out any issues, so I was pleased.
Thanks for attempting to cover LO. I feel it will be worth every minute for those of us Architects who are serious users.
FYI: no more machine parts please.
    Thanks so much,
    Chris

Very helpful video - exactly the intro needed: a good overview of where tools and functions are located in Layout.
I purchased a book just on Layout which fails (for me anyway) to provide any useful overview. The book just lists features and tools in a hierarchy but does not actually show you where they can be found or how to access them initially .... quite a disappointing book for me a new Layout user. This video however is excellent. Looking forward to following the series.

Good into. I haven't seen it yet but I am wondering about creating "Details." Say for example, a drawing that of a large machine part, in which there is a small part that needs to be expanded in size and details given on the same page. Usually the existence of the detail is shown by an arrow and title like "Detail A"

Hi Aaron, thanks for this! Well needed content....Looking forward to seeing more. I use other software for 2D, but sometime it would be quicker just to print out the page without import/export. And to be honest, I like SketchUp much more, so hopefully, Layout will also be more enjoyable to use. Cheers,

Looking forward to improving my LayOut skills! I would love to hear a bit about ways to optimize LayOut performance / responsiveness. I'm confused about which affects LayOut performance more, CPU or GPU and their respective available memory. Also, in my day-to-day usage of LayOut, its performance, even with the same model, varies a lot. I suspect it has to do with what else I have running on my computer. I like to have the model I'm working on open in SketchUp while I'm working in LayOut, but does that affect LayOut performance? Thanks, as always, for providing easy-to-access SU and LO learning resources!

    Hello from Bogota, Colombia.
I am developing a project of a house in Sketchup, when I send it to "Layout" to generate the technical sheets (pages) for the presentation of the project, I begin to have problems with delays in regeneration, the PC becomes slow, each activity or movement or drawing (dimensions, textures, lines, texts, etc) become very slow.
    QUESTION:
Are there tips or workflows to take into account so that the production of "layout" sheets is agile and of good quality, both the content and the graphic images?

Aaron, I have been using SU for a few years and I was kind of afraid to jump into SU-pro/Layout, but after watching your tutorials, I like it and it doesn't look too difficult. How can we identify and follow this series that you mention at the end of this tutorial? Thank you.

I'd like to know more about 2D drafting in Layout. The basics are straightforward. More difficult is drawing angles and matching angles. Doing so is easy in SketchUp with guides and rotation. In Layout, I have yet to figure out (or find instruction for) aligning one angled shape with another (roof eave details!).

you should change this sketchup and for something of the better type, when opening an interior style style program, easy access to blocks for scenes and scenes, easy access as textures and a good render. Promotes easy access to parabens, but loses them in the eyes of the face or sketchup captures as the same ideas to level up quickly

LayOut is sooooooo boring slow !!!! Also as hybrid display. There is no changes at all. Everthing what you present here I don't need it. What google was maked wasn't changed. Sadly. Insteed with LayOut I make Layout directly in Powepoint.. or in Corel.. or in Illustrator. As 2D software I need something much faster and with some functions like in Autocad 2D.... for example right mouse taste - command stop and command repeat. When I make measures an then drag those to other position they are not in scale any more.... I mean aaaaagghhrrrrrr... I don't see a reason to upgrade at all. I like Sketchup !
