I absolutely love the TRD Pro. I bought a 2021 TRD Pro in lunar rock and fell in love with the car, took it Bolivia where I drive it now and it is just an amazing car. Just put an order for the 2023 solar octane and after using it for a time in the USA , I will export it to Bolivia in 2024. Totally agree with your views
I own a 2024 TRD Pro in the underground color I removed the roof rack with a delete kit love the look replacing the running boards with all flat surface for easy in & out not having to look when stepping down went with Go Rhino RB 20's slim thank you Sir. great work
Nice review. Two questions as I'm considering a 2024 TRD Pro 4Runner. I currently have a 2021 F-150 xlt with the 2.7 Ecoboost. I like the truck but i have always wanted a 4Runner for some reason so I figured now or never for a new one. Do you think I'll regret going from the F-150 to the 4 Runner, aside from not having a truck bed? second question is how bad does the TRD exhaust drone? is it just occasionally annoying or consistently a pain in the backside? thank you
Excellent questions. The biggest difference you’ll find is overall refinement and the F150 is successful because it’s so well resolved. The 4Runner now feels like it’s from a different era, the days when vehicles were made to last a million years. While it’s massive fun for me to drive a 4Runner TRD Pro for one week out of the year, the drone from that exhaust would drive me nuts every day, especially under light load driving up a slight grade. Regardless, the 4Runner is so unique and full of character that it’s worth the price of admission. Keep me posted.
@@BrianMakse … thank you, I appreciate it. I have a refundable deposit on a TRD pro 4Runner that is scheduled to arrive in March. Midnight black color. Dealership already offered to remove the roof rack if want as well as change to a traditional exhaust. Not sure I’ll make the purchase, we will see, I do like the F-150 for its ride, comfort and I’m getting 20 mpg consistently. The thing is I can always get an F-150, can’t always get this version of the 4Runner. Tough decision
The problem with the 4runner isn't necessary the dated and reliable hardware. It's the fact they want 70k for it. There is virtually no reason to buy a new one.
That is dealer mark up, most expensive msrp is around 55k, starts around 40k. I would say the opposite, they hold value so well the savings buying used doesn't make it worth it.
@Chatsworth Osborne, Jr. It is not 70k though lol MSRP is around 40-55K/ I spent 6k more than you and got the off road premium NEW. Better interior, 4x4, kdss crawl control, multi terrain, sun roof and all the other goodies. It was loaded Plus the 4x4 holds its value better and easier resale. Saving 6k to give up all of that is silly. Weird to get 2wd version, whats the point? should of just got rav4 or highlander
@@jsnow6925 very true. I got mine at MSRP with some upgrades totaling $55k and honestly I challenge anyone to show me another vehicle which will hold its value better 2-3-5 years down the line…hell, off the lot even…
Thank you for the candid video, very specific and valuable info. Were you able to get the Noisy exhaust replaced? What are the options without compromising the vehicle warranty?
Ride quality is determined by a number of factors including the tires, springs, and dampers, and all of those are unique to the TRD Pro relative to other 4Runners. That said, I find the ride of the TRD Pro to be the most compliant of the bunch and certainly softer on the road, but given its ability to soak up big bumps and off road capabilities, it’s a compromise I’m willing to accept.
@@BrianMakse I have a 2020 Off Road Premium without KDSS. I was thinking about trading up for the 2023 TRD PRO. Is the difference that remarkable with the suspension?
@@rockeye you'll notice a difference, but if you like the on road manners of yours, you might be disappointed. If you want to soak up bumps and do some moderate off roading, you'll be pleased with a TRD Pro.
@@BrianMakse I want to soak up bumps. The man hole covers, pot holes and endless construction in my city have me searching for the PRO and the FOX Suspension.

4Runner reviews crack me up sometimes. Every reviewer, understandably, will mention how it’s interior is dated and doesn’t have the bells and whistles etc but will then go down the line and list everything it does have and quickly you realize nobody literally needs anything more than what’s offered in this package for a vehicle.
@@BrianMakse less maybe, what more do most people actually *need*? Like I mean NEED, not some niche thing like a wireless charge pad. Just to clarify, I am referring to what’s offered on the interior mostly. I understand there are things overall on the vehicle that can be improved on like fuel economy and power train. But when you go down the line of interior needs, at least for the TRD pro you have heated seats, steering wheel, Apple car play/android auto, auto headlights, auto high beams, 8 inch touch display, 360° cam, park assist, lane assist, radar cruise control, all the other Toyota safety sense features. On the limited trims you can add memory seats and ventilated seats. Again pretty much everything most consumers would find the most useful.
To me it is amazing that I see no equivalent from GM. They have a truck and they can make a SUV out of it. Ford has the Bronco and Jeep is there. Nissan should make a one from Frontier. These will sell.
Nissan needs to bring back the Xterra based off of the new Frontier. GM could easily do the same with the Colorado/Canyon and bring back the Blazer/Jimmy.
Didn't know you reviewed these types of vehicles-- but GLAD you did-- I VALUE your advise and opinions... THANKS for this-- I'm looking to get one of these instead of the new Mazdas-- will be more practical for me.. and useful- AND easier for me to get in and out of since I got mashed between 2 trucks in 99 and getting in those tight low cars is a bit tricky sometimes.
I think the only thing that Toyota could’ve added to their newer models is an armrest to the driver’s seat. I do a lot of highway driving every day to/from work, & that’s something I wish my current 4Runner had.
You mentioned the "sport" drive mode? Is that specific to the TRD Pro? What are the advantages to it and how to you use it? I enjoy your past reviews of the 4Runner and I wasn't disappointed with your thoughts on the 2023 model!! Yes, it's old and out dated BUT that's the beauty of the 4Runner especially when it last for as long as it does.
The pro isn't worth it, but the other trims are absolutely worth it! I just got a 2024 ORP and I love it! The pro is simply not worth the price, but if that's your jam, go for it.

NICE REVIEW Black is the best color. LOL Cant wait to buy one in black.pox
Black looks great but really hard to maintain, even being careful you'll get spiderwebs everywhere.
@@jsnow6925 true have one 2018 it’s meant to get dirty.
@@romererunamerika9437 I agree, I have a 2021, I went grey just to be able to clean up and hide the dings a little better. I love how black cars look, all of them were before my 4runner
@@jsnow6925 any color is cool on this vehicle/. grey is cool too. yeah black looks great when clean with tinted windows. I got an incredible deal on mine with the black from an officers wife that never saw dirt and 18k miles for 32k. So went for it. I have never looked back. Great vehicle for off-roading. Take care!
@@romererunamerika9437 Thats awesome, def my favorite car I have ever owned. With basic maintenance they last forever! Have a pic?
