Great idea, using epoxy on a little panel. Daughter's A2 (Al body) needs two putting back. Thanks, Trev.
    Good to see you back.

I'm an old scool welding engineer and Amateur welder. Why do everyone call it a Mig-Welder when it isn't. It is only a Mig-Welder with pure Argon or maybe Helium. With mixed gas, such as 80 / 20 Argon and Carbon-Dioxide with a trace of oxygen (0,5%) it is called Mag. Hence Mig / Mag, for the welding equipment can change its workings by replacing the gas-cylinder and additive material.
One can never weld Aluminium with a Mag-welder, but quite well with a Mig-welder, and vice-versa with steel.
The word "Active" in MAG is very important for the welding process into steel, where the word "Inactive or Inert" is very important when welding into Aluminium.

It's a technicality that most non-tradespeople don't bother with because it doesn't matter to them.
A bit like not being bothered when people capitalise words such as helium, argon, aluminium and carbon dioxide.

I just rip the heat shield off and call it good. I've never had a problem. It's better than listening to that thing rattle under the car. Now if it's around a hotter part of the car like a turbo in an engine compartment with a wiring harness close by, that's a different story. But the ones underneath the car, I don't even worry about it.
