I was using the bigger nozzle and wasn’t too happy with the finish on my cabinets. I’m going to use your tip on switching to the smaller nozzle thank you. Also thanks for not skipping over the small details, it helps us novices who are just trying to paint a few pieces here and there.
So glad you found the video helpful
Bought one yesterday. Take my word and go buy some rollers and have at it.
Very helpful, thank you!!
I’m a furniture hobbyist and have a bit of experience with the gravity feed and the sprayer with a pressure pot. I purchased the Avanti version on this video and had an uneven result which drove me to search and find your video… thank you for confirming my suspicions; it is likely I am going to return the Avanti.
Thank you for watching and so glad you found it helpful!
I have that same crash cart I use as a toolbox too! that’s too funny 😂
Your med supply cart....that cracks me up. Thanks for the information 👍
Thanks for the great video. I just bought one of these and am preparing to paint all the walls in our first house. I feel better prepared now.
Glad it was helpful! Let us know how it goes!
Thank you for sharing the use of the Avanti sprayer and your experience and knowledge. You tube is a very valuable resource and I am thankful for folks like you who have a heart for sharing information. You are a teacher! I did Like your video. God Bless
Brother very nice info on the Avanti it almost took me a few hours to find a review on it like this thanks very heplful
So glad you found it helpful, thanks for watching!
Thanks. You are appreciated. Great intro into the Avanti gun
Thank you so much, we appreciate you!
Thank you for showing how you mix
Thank you for putting up this tutorial. It answered a lot of my questions and has helped with some of the frustration I was having with the AV 200. It's giving me a lot of things to try now with someone's with some. Thanks
Glad it helped!
Nice video guys. Very informative. Thanks😊
Thank you so much
this is incredibly helpful and informative, thank you!
Great video. Thank you!
Thank you for taking your time explaining all the details and showing us how both of the sprayers work! Your video was very helpful!
So glad you found it helpful, thank you for watching!
Very informative! Thank you for the tutorial.
You're welcome! Thank you for watching and commenting, we appreciate it!
Thanks so much for the tutorial.
You're gravity fed HVLP has a 2 stage trigger that allows you let off to keep air flowing but cuts off paint. This is helpful when you run to the end of the project, you can let up without letting off of the trigger.
Nice explanation dor used
😊
I have the old HF turbine sprayer i think i paid $60.i have done alot with it even precat lacquers
Great video. Just bought both and they’re both getting the job done, however, the Avanti is blowing air out of the hose where it meets the gun so I’m getting the air blowing back in my face. Is that supposed to be happening or is it a leak on the hose?
The spiral tubing may need to be tightened into the connector
Very helpful and informative...
Thank you so much!
excellent explanation thank you sir
Thanks so much!
Just to confirm, you ran your gravity top loader gun at 40 PSI (at the gun not the compressor tank) correct?
Yes, that is correct.
Thank you so much for information!!!!
You are very welcome! Thank you for watching.
Great job! Thank you for the comparison. I was just hoping to get your opinion on which one is better Or preferred for furniture. I am considering Re painting my kitchen cabinets and it just seems that the compressor guns are a lot more Complex if the Avanti Performs just as well.. Are there benefits for using one over the other? Thanks again!
Thanks so much for the question. The Avanti HVLP gun is significantly lighter than one with a compressor in the gun. As your arm gets tired, your spray pattern may be inconsistent so using a lighter gun is advantageous. Hope that helps!
very informative, thanks!
Glad it was helpful!
Thanks you
Thanks for sharing! I'm assuming you can't spray the ceiling of a house with these can you?
You can do it with the gravity feed, but it's really not ideal. You can't do it with the Avanti. Great question.
Thank you for this video. Which one would be better for painting over your head? I am painting the soffit wood and fascia boards on our house and I also need to paint my bathroom ceiling. I didn’t know if they will still work if you have to tilt them up to paint over your head. I will be standing on a ladder to paint. Also do they work well for walls? If so which one would you recommend out of the two?
The Avanti does not have an adjustable suction port so it will always angle forward so if you turn the gun up it will not spray properly. The gravity feed would work though.
I'm sorry I didn't hear whether you mentioned about thinning enamel or oil-based versus water-based paints and what your opinion is on spring each I love the oil-based with paint thinner I think it doesn't much nicer job but now some of the latexes are you know water based paints are very nice also
All paints must be thinned. Oil based paints have a tendency to yellow. In my opinion, unless it's going outside, a water-based paint is preferable.
Thanks
Makes me wonder if it is possible to add extension rod to this type of sprayer? If not, maybe do extension DIY
That's a great question. There currently isn't an extension available. My concern would be that the sprayer would not have enough pressure to go through it.
Which is better to use ? Avanti or the compressor ?
We recommend the compressor as long it’s at least a 30 gallon tank
Great video! Question: do you need to be concerned about the paint drying in the nozzles between sprays? How long might I have between sprays?
Thanks!
On the inside of the nozzle, you are fine. But paint can definitely built up around the outside of the nozzle. I keep a small wire to clear off the excess paint in between sprays. Does that help?
@@soulmatesandsawdusttn Yes! Thank you, I haven’t used sprayers yet and am trying to learn what I can before I make the leap.
It’ll work with solid stains correct ?
Can you clarify what you mean by solid stain? Like a gel stain? If so, yes you can spray stain but cleaning the machine is not fun. You may need to thin it depending on the type of nozzle you have.
Also, is there a way to add a hose and whip to the avanti? I’m considering purchasing to paint kitchen cabinets
Hi Kyla, it already has a hose. You cannot add a whip.
Help! I used the avanti successfully once. I moved and a year later tries to use it and it won’t put out anything! I feel like I’ve checked everything multiple times and ran water through all the places to check for clogs. Any suggestions from an experienced user? It gets air just won’t spray anything out.
Are you sure you are thinning the paint enough? Also, have you tried changing the tip?
It finally started to work on its own and I still don’t know why. I even refilled the paint. It acted up for about 15 minutes towards to end again and then magically started working again. I’m thinking something about air pressure inside the cup. Is that a thing?
I'm getting g heavy stiple like I rolled. Is that because too much paint is coming out?
It sounds like you may not have thinned the paint enough. What was your process? And yes, you may also have too much paint coming out.
I just bought the Avanti sprayer and looking forward to using it. I greatly appreciate this video! It has calmed my nerves a bit about using it since I have never used a sprayer before. I do have a quick question...if I was to paint trim, painting the fuller surface I would use the normal technique, but when it comes to spraying the edges how would you prevent (or better said help) cutting down on over-spray on the main surface?
Hi David! I’m assuming you are referring to trim inside a house? If so, you basically need to cover whatever surfaces you don’t want over spray on.
@@soulmatesandsawdusttn Perfect, thank you. I should have known...LOL!
@@davidbass5127 let us know how you make out. Be sure to actually mask it off, not just cover the area, otherwise the spray will find it’s way on those areas.
Your tube is adjustable in all four directions so you can spray at any angle. Didn’t know if you knew this ?
Yes, thank you, we are aware!
How do you spray the walls without spraying the ceiling?
Hi Jen, we spray furniture but you can spray walls too. Definitely a lot of masking off of areas you don't want to get overspray on.
What compressor are you using? Thanks
We use a 39 gallon 175 psi compressor with the gravity feed sprayer. The larger the gallon tank, the better chance the compressor has with keeping up with the demand of the gun. The Avanti doesn't need one.
You can use a 6 gallon air compressor
Is this the 3 or 5 stage, from a avanti?
It is the 2 Stage.
True HVLP doesn't use a compressor. I hate that these corporations are selling guns as HVLP and they're not. The first HVLP sprayers did have a compressor and turbine but they discovered with just heated air at about 13 psi is all you need . The Avanti cup while cheap is a true HVLP
I believe thats why theres the distinction now between hvlp and airless hvlp
Does anyone know if it woks on ceilings
The Avanti does not have an adjustable suction port so it will always angle forward so if you turn the gun up it will not spray properly. The gravity feed would work though.
