When I first tried out this sprayer I had disastrous results. The paint sprayed out like crazy with hardly any control. After leaving off of the trigger the paint would continue to run out of the nozzle. Turned out that the black ring was inserted reversed from the factory. I never removed the ring before use so I had no way of knowing this as it still fit into position as you would think it should. After the mess I had I was too disgusted to continue figuring on returning the sprayer. I discovered the problem after I cleaned the gun up and just spraying water through it I could tell a big difference. This video says the ring will only fit one way which is true as long as it's facing the correct direction. One thing I noticed after I corrected the ring is that there were no threads left showing on the nozzle cap when tightened, as before there was. I watched this video after my problem and did find it very helpful. Just thought I'd share my story as a warning
You should always load the sprayer with water first (assuming you are using water based paint and/or stain) to make sure the gun is operating correctly.
Dude! Thank you for this video. I hate reading directions!! It’s confusing and boring as heck!! You showed me everything I need to know!! I appreciate it!
EXCELLENT Vid. Using these instructions to do 2 Stucco out door walls 20x8 on a non windy day. Buying same supplies and following Your cleaning instructions. Using the Same Avanti Sprayer just bought at Harbor Freight for $39 with coupon. I owe You and will follow for pay back.. BTW, awesome shop
Just got it have not opened box I painted Professionally 20 years ago used nice sprayers looking forward to painting kitchen cabinets. I loved demonstration with son involved very well done like regular folks THANKS 5/25/23
THANKYOU for you detailed video. You even showed all the little parts that need to be cleaned afterwards. Very helpful for this first time spray painter! The sprayer was easy and awesome
Amazing video! Bought this gun thinking it wouldn’t be the least amount great but I was blown away after my first use. Decided to see what others think and came here for a review on the sprayer.. leaving as a fan. Love the fathering happening here.
You earned a new subscriber today. Great short walk through with a real world home application. I had already purchased this sprayer to paint my shed/chicken coop. I wanted something exactly like this for the tips and tricks - paint viscosity dilution, pro-active cleanup tips including the water buckets, and honest feedback overall. Great video. Thank you!
Great information! I just purchased this sprayer to stain my porch and deck. Hopefully this sprayer is sufficient for the job. Those sprayers can get pricey! Thanks again!
Thanks buddy. Just bought this gun and going to use it to finish my basement walls with the same color too! Great job and your son is quite the little helper. Hope you keep posting more videos and thanks so much!
Thank you for the great review and instructional video. I just purchased the AV-100 yesterday and did not know what to expect (as I always use paint rollers and brushes), but was hoping for the best. Your video gave me encouragement for a nice spray paint job I am planning to do --- Thanks again. And I subscribed to your channel; keep up the great work!
@@mKierstenk paint consistency took some experimentation because it did not agree with the suggested recommendations and make sure you have enough mixed paint on hand. I did not have a positive first use experience with it, but I will give it another try on the fence. Good luck.
Thank you so much for this video. I've had this sprayer for about 2 years and just broke it out. My back isn't allowing me to use rollers and brushes. I tried. It was horrible. 😩 This video explained everything. I'll use the sprayer as expensive as the paint quotes have been. I feel so much more confident now. Subscribed and liked! 💞
Just bought this sprayer yesterday, I have to paint a wellhouse that I built way out in the middle of a cow pasture for a friend. Planning on powering it with my old Harbor Freight Chicago Electric blue 2-Stroke generator (the predecessor to the "Tailgator" generator). I hate to paint, but I don't mind painting with a spray gun so much. Thanks for the video!!!
"You can make results, or you can make excuses." Awesome video! Great review / how-to / tips-and-tricks / overview of the sprayer! Looking forward to more! Subscribed! Love your delivery. I'm envious of the father-and-son duo!
Thank you, Sir. Too many people now-a-days are making excuses and are being critical because they are too afraid to fail. Make results, good or bad, just do something and learn from your mistakes. I'm just trying to teach the boy how to be a man, schools now-a-days don't teach a young man what he really needs to learn. We both thank you for the sub.
Thanks .. haven’t taken it out of the box yet after watching your video it’s going back to HF .. I didn’t want one that I have to mess around with thinning the paint first I wanted to pour it in the cup and paint the video was very helpful
Thumbs up! Thanks for the thorough video. Just the type of full explanation from start to finish I was looking for. Picking one up tomorrow to paint some very decorative crown molding that would take forever with a brush. Have a happy thanksgiving
I got one of these for painting a large shed I built. It works very well with water based latex paint. Much better than the old buzzer gun airless sprayers. It was reasonably fast and controllable.
You got a new subscriber! Entertaining and informative! Good job 👍😎I just bought one and was looking for some more information about it and you did a great job on it!
Just bought this piece at the freight. Good video. Thanks. Looks easy. I like the viscosity cup. Mine drained out in 45sh seconds. As always, will practice on scrap first. Thanks man! 🙏
So, I didn't have everything I needed for the proper setup. Could have used a mixing bucket to get my ratio right, but had to mix in the sprayer container. Mixed it way to watery. Had lots of over spray and and because it was so watery, runs. I really didn't have time to figure it all out, so I just busted out the brush to clean up the runs and just continued to paint the rest with it. I'll take it home and play with it to get it right so I'm ready for the next time.
@@coachmattc We had done the same thing when we first got ours. That's why we put so much time into figuring out what it likes. The ratio seems to be the most important aspect of the whole exercise.
great informative video, I had another brand of spray gun that I let someone use and haven't seen it since, I was thinking about getting this avanti gun but seen some bad reviews about it. from your video the gun seems to work just fine
If its a metal body, it might not atomize the paint enough for good results. I am interested to see none the less. My best results have been wood, drywall, cabinets and such.
Thank you very much for stating your24 ounce paint to 16 ounce water dilution. That should make it much easier to use compared to the 10% water suggested on other sites. It could also help make this affordable sprayer last much longer too. Once again, Thanks
Recommendations for cleaning my Avanti Paint sprayer just like the one you have it has been setting in the box with dry paint in it for about a year now my helper never cleaned it. I’m disabled, and I hire him to do a job some good fast solutions, soapy water and a rag. Just don’t seem to do it. Thank you in advance.
I’ve been finding out most of the Turbine HVLP spray rigs work the same or very similiar the bigger differences i’ve found is Metal(aluminum) versus Plastic Construction i do personally prefer the Metal ones that are easier to Clean without damaging the surfaces i’m a retired ProfessionalWoodworker and in the past i’ve always used Compressed Air for Spraying although i’ve switched to the Turbine set ups for all my Paint and Finishing needs my unit is actually a older CampbellHausfeild Kit they don’t sell as a kit any longer one more thing almost all the Patents on Paint Sprayers and the Technology is now owned by the Wagner Corporation , who bought out many of the independent Companies over the years thanks for the video !
Great video and great tip on the bucket of water! I tried my sprayer for 1st time before I saw your video. I had problem with too much overspray and volume. Did you use the adjustment knob behind the trigger? Your video inspired me to try it again and try with water to see if I can adjust the amount of spray/volume. Thanks Keep up the good work!
Do you happen to know the mix ratio for stain? I have behr waterproofing stain & sealer. Thanks for such a great and thorough video! Def ready to use it now! 😃
I do not. We have never tried any stains. What I would do is use the viscosity measuring tool on the stain by itself first, just to see how thiccc it is. Then I would start with a small amount of the thinning agent and measure each time until I got the correct viscosity. i.e. start with 5oz of stain and add 1oz of thinning agent, then measure. Add another ounce of thinning agent if needed and then measure. Then when you find the desired viscosity, now it is easy to bump up your measurements with your new found ratio.
hmmmm My cap on the sprayer stuck to the container of paint after the first fill. Had to have my 28 year old nephew wrestle it open. . Possibly filled to much, could be water base paint dried too fast (maybe I was slow to paint), all the possibilities....not sure. By the end of the second empy - the cap would not come off. I did wipe the cap and container before starting again just to be sure I wouldn't have the same issue, but it was worse. My nephew could not get the cap off and my young mid thirties neighbor could not get the cap off the sprayer/container....LOL we are perplexed. Super sad as the results were great and I felt it was a simple sprayer to navigate.
I think you are mixing up vertical and horizontal. A little hard to tell, but it seems like your buddy is moving horizontally side to side, but the dial is ==. And I think when you are spraying up and down the dial is ||. The Owner's Manual says to do the opposite.

How did units work for you on your deck? I’ve got fence and deck to stain with oil based stain
Your son is a natural with that sprayer. His future wife is going to be super happy with his handy skills, and he'll have a beautiful home!

Thank you for details and ratios was awesome breakdown since first time I wasn’t using a roller
I subscribed. You absolutely deserve it. Detailed and professional review. Especially the viscosity cup part. I will be getting one of these
Your so funny love the attitude 😂 great review, your spot on especially thinning the paint for best results.

Thank you for sharing this amazing video, helps a lot!
Great vido ijust bought my gun good to see you made it easy...
seems like a gamechanger for DIYers painting deeply textured surfaces at home that a roller can't get to
i liked it, very helpful, new subscriber! looking forward to more father son projects!!!
Big fan of harbor freight. For the correct application their DYI level products fit my budget well.
To reduce viscosity I have had excellent results heating latex paints instead of thinning.
very good demo and information provided.
Man you are the best ever. Thank you. Tell your son I said hello and be good 😆
Definitely worth your time to watch! Hit the thumbs up and learn about the basics of operating this product.

Consider getting the HomeRight Sprayer it is still cheap compared to the Wagner but, it has a metal tip.
