    I built an Arbor for a Wisteria shrub. The side pieces are roughly 8' tall & the top is roughly 9' long with all three of these major parts being very decorative in appearance by having a lot of air space between shapes forming the section. Once constructed it obviously needed primed & then painted.
    I used a brush to prime one face of one of the vertical sections and it took 45 minutes and made a mess of my brush because of all the angles & corners that needed primed. At 45 minutes per side it would take 9 hours to prime & single coat all three major pieces of the Arbor, so a better solution was needed.
    I found the Avanti AV 100 on sale at Harbor Freight & took a chance by buying it.
    What do I think after the first attempt. Well, there is so much air space between the decorative elements of each of the sections of the Arbor that 80% of the paint is wasted. Aside from that it worked fine. Hoewever, blowing thru a quart of primer and not having primed completely all the pieces is a problem in need of a solution.
    My aim for the next go is to play with the flow control to minimize the volume of paint output & this time I will roll with a small roller paint on first & spray only the hard to paint by hand areas. Hopefully less paint is used this way.
    Too bad you can't control the width of the spray, but for $40 on sale one can only ask for so much.
    Also as a bit of a side note, when taking apart the business end of the sprayer for cleaning its a good idea to take note of how the 4 plastic parts align and to thread on completely the outer piece. Until I had everything aligned & the outer piece completely threaded on the sprayer was more of a squirt gun than sprayer, but eventually I got it back to factory setting.

    So I noticed the video was 8 months ago, any thoughts about how the paint itself is holding up on your shutters after this time?

      I am definitely not a paint expert so I can't make any specific recommendations. I would say just make sure it is exterior and that you properly prep the surface and maybe do one coat more than you think you should and allow proper drying times between coats.

    why my paint is leaking through the trigger point? I tried with water too, it's also leaking :( otherwise, I'm pretty happy about the result. Can someone help me on how to fix the leaking?

      What does “sack the paint” mean?

  • @rickmegandrapeau6950

    Typically most paint "shouldnt" be thinned anymore than 10 percent so if you had 48 Oz of paint max you would add 4.8 oz of distilled water no more. If your adding more water than that your messing with the chemistry of the paint. I would also recommend straining the paint thru a 60 mesh paper strainer, you don't want the gun to clog mid project. Basically all I'm saying is if you have to thin the paint more than 10 percent to make it spray thru the gun then the gun is not powerful enough to spray that type of paint and atomize it properly. How long will the finish last who knows only time will tell. Now did it work and are you happy with the result if so then nothing else matters. Just some painting tips that's all. Looks good by the way.

    • @rossibytes
      @rossibytes  8 месяцев назад

      Thank you very much for the tips. Very much appreciated. The thinning that I did was based on the instruction manual saying that you had to thin it enough so that when you did it with the test cup, it would drain out in a certain period of time.

    • @murderrn6489
      @murderrn6489 5 месяцев назад

      I found this out as well. I had to thin my paint out by 50%. It took longer to dry and did not have a lot of pigment. I needed 3-4 coats. A multi stage sprayer is def needed for latex paint. Stick with an airless sprayer for latex.

    I was going to get this but I think I would rather roll it out and cut it in with a brush. Too much work cleaning that sprayer.
