Thanks for showing us this sprayer and the stain. I was thinking about doing the same thing but I didn't know if I should use the brush or buy a sprayer. Now at least I know there is an affordable solution.
Would love to see how you fill the sprayer from the 5 gallion bucket. We have a similar sized fence and would love to be able to use a lightweight sprayer like this one.
I just did this job as DIY for my own fence, I ended up buying a cheap $5 Harbor Freight Transfer Pump and pumped the stain out from the 5 gallon into the paint sprayer container. Took several refills and was able to fill it up using the pump in about 1 min each time. When it got too low for the pump, I poured out all the remaining stain into a flexible plastic container to make it easier to pour into the sprayer.
I tried one of the handpump sprayers on my shed years ago, made by the maker of the timber treatment I was using. What a PAIN! The spraying was OK(ish) but the cleaning up of the spray itself afterwards took ages - it clearly wasn't really designed to be fully cleaned. OK for water & weedkillers maybe, but not for paints or timber stuff. These modern electric sprayers look far better thought out.
Great video. Just finished cleaning my fence (bleach mix) followed by power washing. Looks great but to preserve it I plan to do exactly what you did. Particularly like the light color. Thanks!
Thanks for sharing your fence staining information and video. My wife has become picky and I know she would catch the sprayer lines running horizontally on the top portion of the panel you sprayed. So, I would have to deal with that. I love using sprayers because they reduce the amount of fence staining project time. But, dealing with sprayer lines and preventing overspray from staining a neighbor's home or stuff really stop me from using a sprayer.
I wonder if this method would work with Behr premium transparent deck stain, this stuff is super thick and even by other videos that use a pump up sprayer it didn't work
What is your recommendation when you have two different type of wood fencing? I have a backyard terrace that has one type of fencing/color vs the wood fending surrounding the backyard?
Hey I liked the video and REALLY liked the color of stain you used but sadly I cannot get a Pulte Gold to come up anywhere on the internet any chance you would have a SKU number? I know this was done a while back so that probably isn't a option. Anyone else found it?
Ordered a sprayer from Amazon the other day. $42+tax. I've got 40' of newly installed picket fence to stain. Hopefully, this works as well as i think it will. Did you thin out the stain? I don't believe I need to thin it out.
@@GearKnowHow thanks! My fence is cedar and it’s only 8 months old and turd a little grey on me. That shade is perfect. Gonna get some and test a small section after I clean it to see how it looks. Appreciate it!

I taped an old paint stick in the middle of my cardboard to make it easier to hold against the wall/baseboard.

If you’re getting sprayer lines you’re not atomizing the material correctly.
Great video. Did you have to cut or water down the stain? Thanks
Yeah just a bit for the sprayer
Great video! Thanks for sharing!
What’s the exact skew of the stain? I don’t want to purchase the wrong one?
What is the mix ratio with water for the sprayer? Thank you
Hi, great video! Would you mind spelling the name of the color (pulte gold?) or provide a link? I could not find it. Thank you!

i just did this knocked it out in a day .

Use the same stain if you want them to match better
Muchas Gracias Senor Gear Know -how..... muy buen video....
Trust me....brushing is very difficult to get into the gaps. Good prep work will protect any surrounding buildings, cars etc.
You should probably wear a mask. A friend of mine died from lung cancer doing it without one.
How many times did he do that without one? I should probably wear a mask myself
Did you mix that stain with a Thinner or just the stain itself?
We’re u pretty happy with this sprayer I heard people complain about electric sprayers I need to buy one.
Works great
Good day from the side, how much is the cost of the spray gun
$30

Does anyone know the color he's using?
Could you link the stain you used?
It’s at Home Depot
Is the tint base number 3077 by chance?
What is the Tint base number?

Hello Sir, what do you used for washing, it is missing what is that long gun called
Pressure Washer
What did you use to pour it into the canister from the 5 gallon?
Big funnel
@GearKnowHow got it thank you. I'm about to stain about 75 yds of new fencing, don't want to make a mess.
no back brushing??
Didn't look like he loaded enough stain to need it.
Can I get the name of the color u got or the link pls …
French drain holding up?
Do you have to hit with a roll over brush after spraying?
Nope
Great man! I just put up the fence this last weekend. How long would you recommend waiting until I stain that bad boy
@@SavHabitz 3 months for the wood to dry some
@@GearKnowHow thanks again for the info bud
What is exactly color of your stain?
What name of paint
Can sprayers handle a thick oil based stain?
Not well, but it can be done as this is a paint sprayer officially
@@GearKnowHow thanks for the quick reply 👍🏽
How many coats would you use?
Two if you can and want a darker color
Was 5 gallons enough to cover both sides of your fence?
Nope ended up needing 6 gallons total and probably could have done 7
@@GearKnowHow well thats better than buying another 5 gallons! That's awesome! Thank you! You're best brother!
There is a lot of stripes in that, id have to go over again. So ill double the time, still a time saver
Yeah it’s good for 5 - 7 years so next time I’d probably double it up and really soak in the wood good.
What color stain did you use. Gold what?
Pulte Gold

How many gallons did it take?
6 gallons

Wish I saw this 3 months ago. 🙃
Great video but cant help to note that that has to be an 8' span.
Behr stain from Lowe’s?? Behr I believe is sold exclusively at Home Depot
Behr Stains are made by Home Depot, not by Lowes.
Home Depot doesn't make stain. Neither does Lowe's. Behr stain is made by Behr Process sold through The Home Depot.
Thats not nearly enough stain for cedar fencing
Loud n a lot of paint wasted through spray
Dang this gun is 30 bucks on Amazon now
Should have used a mask my man.
That gate is made completely wrong. Its not designed to last and will sag bad. Look up fence gate engineering.
Any cancer symptoms yet?
