Lenovo ThinkPad T460s - one of the best ultrabooks even in 2019?

- Here's a review of one of the most popular and reliable compact 14" ultrabooks, the now 3-year old ThinkPad T460s.
It's true that there are already 2 successors on the market, the T470s and T480s, but I think it still is one of main contenders in the 14" ultrabooks battle.
The main specs of the laptop I've tested are: Intel® Core™ i7-6600U 2.60GHz, Skylake, 14" Full HD IPS display, 8GB RAM, 192GB SSD.
Enjoy!

I still have mines and I still love it.
Thank you for the nice and complete review
Love the review man! I've been looking everywhere for this kind of review, I'll be waiting for more reviews like this!
I have just bought a reconditioned T460s with an NVMe SSD, i5 processor, 12gb ram which i am using for work and runs just as fast as my most recent laptop i have. Considering this laptop is 4+ years old, i'm very impressed and (apart from a couple of surface marks) looks brand new
Planning to get one tmrw. Is the t60 compared to the t60s have alot of difference
@@etz949 The specs vary widely but the T460s is the thinner version though the battery life isn't as good. www.reddit.com/r/thinkpad/comments/4d31u2/t460_vs_t460s_review_after_one_week_of_usage/
Thanks buddy!
@Interesting Channel I meant the T460s, corrected
So its true you can use m.2 SATA or nvme PCI in this model?
still using it and its awesome!
Hy i have a problem how can i used fingerprint in mine t460s plz tell me more
@@Rubaitsadat you have to go te windows security settings and setup fingerprint login from there.
Very good review. Less musick would be better.
Thank you.👍🇱🇺
I payed 260 Euro for 460s with 20gb.
It was labeled at big usage spots but all is fine.
Normally you pay 400 in good conditon.
Screen opens 180 degrees so if you are hooked up to an external monitor you dont have to have the screen in the way.
Thinkpad t460 vs latitude e7470, looking for most serviceable & longest lasting laptop (hoping to get another 10 years of browsing usage) . Enlight me anyone?

Where can I find the model, example T460
I bought one, from Germany, reteq renewed, he was renewed, with 720 euros.I5 -6200, 16GB Ram, 256 ssd, fullHd, 2 years waranty. My last was a t440, wich i sold one week ago with 400 😂,bought 2 years ago with 300 euro ( i5 4300,8gb,128 ssd). I think is the best machine, actually all T series. I use it for php editing and some photoshop, and 440 was awseome.
I do web programming, do you think that this pc is a good choice? How is the keyboard? Do you recommend it for 350 euros?
@@igorlazic6036 did you buy it?
I mean how can I tell what model I have on the thinkpad. Thank you
Does anyone use the built in smart card reader on this laptop? i have downloaded the latest drivers and checked in device manager but haven't managed to get it to work after inserting my smart card
With a smart card you usually need a proprietary client that gives a handshake to all access.
This was at least how my Fujitsu lifebook was years ago.
I've just received a new L13 Yoga thinkpad and I spec it with the smart card reader also as I want use it.
Keep me posted if you find anything please.
Can someone pls tell how to type @ in this keyboard?
thumps up for anyone who prefer to use it as a Linux machine :).
I prefer to use it as a Debloated Windows machine
Is it good for AutoCAD?
tablet mode ?
Thanks for your video first of all. How do you compare x1 carbon gen 1 to t460 ? They are proably in the same price range in ebay. my budget is no more than $300. Thanks.
I have the t460s, totally recommend it
The gen 1 is way too old, so definitely T460.
i heard you said it's not for gaming but can it be used for some basic gaming with the i7 6600 ultra processor v-pro turbo boost 4.2 ghz
Hey, I bought one T460s after watching your video. Mine is 3 years old and gets around 5h30m of battery time. Do you believe it would be worth it to change the batteries? How long they brand new batteries would last?
Disadvantage is no dvd rom.
Easily, up to 8 hours
@@arunjosep5362 what is dvd rom? who uses roms now a days?
Please remove the music 🙈 it s distracting
can i add/replace ram in 460s? i heard that there is no option like that.
It takes up to 24 gb of ram.
1 built in 1 replaceable
Hello, i bought this laptop however my brightness slider is not working. I have drivers all installed from the device support page from Lenovo. It’s the intel 520. Do you have any idea? Problem is the brightness is set and no option to increase or decrease. Thank you
You should try and adjust the brightness from the notification corner in Windows 10.
MikeTheTechSavvy even though the slider moves, the screen brightness doesn’t change. And yes i tried from the notification area as well as the hot key.
6:04 is this not confusing? 1 slot free but it says Dual-channel in use already atm?
There's a 4gb stick welded in the Motherboard. That's why the maximum of Ram is 20gb on this model.
Hi Mike,
How is the touchapd on this unit? T460s that I have, has halty touchpad, i.e. when you move your finger "very slowly" on it, the cursor halts and then jumps a few pixels. This defect can only be seen with very slow scrolling. Thanks.
Perhaps you can try with M$ precision drivers? If you have an Elan or Synaptics pointing device it might be worth the shot
Umm, it's decent enough. I also use an Elitebook on a daily basis and I think that was has the upper hand (not by much though).
Just curious, do those 7 white little dots on the middle button on trackpad light up?
Nah, but they have a nice tactile feeling, that's about it.
@@MikeTheTechSavvy thanks for the reply! I recently bought a used one and was curious about it.
I just bought this for 400 euros 😁 ( Core i5 6300U 2.4Ghz 8GB DDR4 256 GB SSD )
I bought t470s for 450 euros, 8gb ddr4 and 512gb ssd like a week ago
i paid 150€
@@carlbothmann nice, I bought t480s 16 gb, 256gb ssd brand new for 600 euros
just bought it for 330€ (i5, 12GB RAM, 500GB SSD)
KarateEichhoernchen how
HI
hy, i have some problem to my simcard slot, its can't enable. Can you help me how to make it worth?
It's possible the laptop may not have the required modem inside.
your model doesnt have the lte modem you can buy it pretty cheap on ebay and it works fine after installing a few drivers
is it still worth-it in 2023?
i've found one with 20gb ram ans 256gb ssd
should i buy it?
I'm buying one this week. Think it worth it.
@@spideralpha8 I want it for programming but I don't know if it will handel heavy apps and programs simultaneously
@@salmansaleem2191 same here. I'm doing full stack dev. (Front back) i think it can handle both server and using VsCode with chrome.
I have a t410 now. 256HDD. I5, 8GB ram.
45mn battery.
It can still handle my daily work, but since it start doing (fan error) I'll change it to a T460S 16GB ram, I7, 256 SSD.
@@spideralpha8 thank i'll reconsider this model then, is there any way i can check if the battery is genuine or how much juice does it still have and also if the the hardware has not been changed
@@salmansaleem2191 ask your seller. Most of these thinkpad have been refurbished but the're still good.
Make sure it is SSD.
