I'm a Linux user, and I currently have a T460s. It runs Linux very well (there's a video of the T460s running Linux on RUclips somewhere). I'd love to get my hands on the T495 with a Ryzen 7 (to use as a Linux workstation).
I have purchased recently a lenovo T460s ( i5-6200u, samsung SSD M.2 256 GB and 8 GB of RAM DDR4 ) and I must say I runs perfectly. I'm using Ubuntu on it and doing web programming. Keyboard is similar like on older macbook pro from 2010-2014 gen, very good and precise. I bought it from one big company in my country which sells new and refurbished PC, laptops and all of that stuff. My lenovo was $220 with new charger, battery health is around 67% ( 3 hours I got which is very solid ) and a one year waranty. If you ask me, this was a really cheap deal for such a small compact machine. I will buy soon in the future new Macbook Air with M2 chip, but for the second laptop, I will always have lenovo. I had Asus, Acer, Toshiba, Dell.. none was like a Lenovo...
I agree! it has an awesome keyboard! Now apple is trying to get the nice buttons back =0) And power-wise it's a beast! Commenting on the M2 chips from apple. Once you will try those you will most likely forget even about Lenovo =)
indeed it should be possible. m2s should comply to the industry specs thus should be cross compatible between brands. Would appreciate if you get back and comment if your SSD fit and how it performs =)
hey there i have a T495 laptop and i’ve been trying to open it up to clean the fan however i can’t seem to open the undershell of the laptop or remove the screws
it can be tricky. You need to have a good screwdriver to begin with. Than the screws might be the ones tat always stay inside and don't fall off. This is actually good. So if you screw them out and you feel no more resistance and the screw is sort of just hanging there , it might be that it's already good to lift off the lid. Pry it up with small plastic tool or credit card so that it's not damaged.
Hi Karl, well, that's the question I was trying to answer with this video.. I'd say if the budget allows, go for a newer t495 but if you are a bit limited, go for an old faithful t460s (not sure if you meant t460 by asking for a t480)
I've got T480s (i7-8560) and T495 (Ryzen 5 3500U PRO) here. After a long consideration and comparison, I vote to keep my good old T480s. T480s pros: better build quality, no wobbliness, awesome touchpad, battery lasts longer, almost no cooling on idle or easy browsing. T480 negs: older CPU (spectre, meltdown), weak UHD 620 (barely runs 2009 games), reddish and low-contrast display T495 pros: sometimes faster cpu (on RT render test), newer cpu, 2-3x faster gpu (tested on GRIP), better contrasting display (texts more readable) T495 negs: no thunderbolt, doesn't talk with gen1 TB dock (dp-out doesn't work for some reason), horrible build quality, wobbly as T14s, no room for double-sided NVMe SSD, horrible touchpad (way less responsive), battery lasts 2 hours less on idle, cools a LOT. If you're a student and want a firmer laptop to sometimes game on, go into T495. If you're a businessman who needs his loyal, "throw-to-kill", "firm-as-brick", "never-to-fail-you" ally to work all day, go into T480(s). I choose the latter, because once you touch the brutal solidness, other laptops will seem gelly to you.
I believe the difference in materials is due to their respective models, rhe t495s would feel even nicer than the t460s, but the t460 feels cheaper than the t495.
@@hellsing0999999999 interesting! What I heard is that the more premium models allow lower quantity of defects as they are going through the more advanced process of quality control
can you give me some temps on the t460s? im running a t460 with a i5 6200u and it hovers around 40-60c i tried changing the thermal paste but my screwdriver was too big and i feared i would strip the screw even further
the 40 is a totally normal temperature for almost any laptop. 60 is also fine. based on where you measure it. If this number comes from the internal sensor and you have a software, showing you 60c that is also more or less fine, as long as the fans are not going sky high. If 60c is what you measure on the keyboard, witht the external thermometer / infrared thermometer , only than you might want to start thinking about some measures. So let's assume your laptop goes vewry warm outside and the fans are blowing like crazy with no significant effect. In tat case your fans are clogged. You might want to add additional cooling to your laptop (temporary measure) and if that does not work, clean the fans. I have a video on that. ANd only if that would not help, than you change the thermal paste. Here is the video ruclips.net/video/feOv7kEErcQ/видео.html

indeed the hardware on t460s is awesome but t495 pushes it even further so linus should wark realy well there as well
Using t460s everyday and it works perfectly till today.

I don't believe X/Ts laptops use better materials than pure T. They weigh less, but the latter is more durable and has better cooling.

Can u say to me which model of ssd has the t495 model ? i've one and i wanna change it, but i don't know the model accurately
my friend sorry, i dont have it anymore, so it is only this video that I have left. Mut it's a standard m2 disk if i remember correctly.
Along as its an m.2 ssd you can use any of them
😍
thank you!
thanks

they're called screws, not bolts.
