    This entire video was just an ad for body armor. Which I very much enjoyed.

    Remember, Spartan armor with the spall coating makes the plate larger than advertised. This is an issue if your PC is made with tight tolerances, as they wont have enough room to fit them.

    Best manufacture product review I have seen yet! I really liked the simple explanations and you presented the info in a very easy to understand and straightforward manner and the production quality was really good. Kudos to the marketing team, they did a bang up job. I do hope they send a few plates out to Buffman for some YT testing. How does a really great job (and fair) in presenting plates with common and rare threats. I would be most excited to see how well the Ares & Hercules plates hold up to multiple hits from M2AP at NIJ velocities. Additionally I am curious to see how the Boron Carbide of the Ares will handle M993 vs the Alumina of the Hercules.
    Currently, with the exception of large defense contractors like Ceradyne and Hesco, there are no manufactures making plates that are rated to stop multiple hits from the US military’s standard issue M855A1 and M80A1 ammo, let alone a single hit from M995 or M993 ammo that they have stockpiled in the millions (new NGSW 6.8mm round?). I would love to see a Pro-2A company make a plate with that kind of performance. After all, the 2A wasn’t created to fight crime but a tyrannical government. Shouldn’t our body armor be created for that purpose too? But then again I am likely part of a small minority that cares about stuff like this. But a man can dream.

      You are not alone. I would love some affordable anti-995/993 armor. Hell, god forbid the day comes, a good shot could get you both 995/993 and armor... but that is a bit morbid and risky.

    With regard to the shelf life, that's mostly a liability issue for places like police departments. And ceramic plates have to survive two drop tests from 4 feet. They're not quite as fragile as all that.

    • @Scott11078
      @Scott11078 2 года назад +3

      Exactly, I'm slowly starting to re evaluate my thoughts on ceramic armor. I'm willing to accept my encounters with ceramic armor bricks in the military had several variables going on that I just wasn't aware of. Several articles I read today and whatever else I may read before it's officially Monday so far have had the biggest impact on me.
      At this particular moment the name of the system escapes me but they tested what was the first ceramic body armor system ever issued. They were manufactured in 1969 so they're Vietnam vintage. The ceramics held up for several 7.62x39 rounds maybe some 5.56 rounds also. It only failed when hit by a 7.62x54 round which it wasn't rated against anyway. That's WAY more than 5 years old.
      A few other articles talking about testing ceramic plates 10-15 years old depending on the article they were either US stock or British CBA. Oh before I forget the kicker with these articles is they tested factory rejects they never disposed of. So 10-15 years old AND having multiple cracks the rejects performed 12% above what a non reject plate was expected to perform to.
      For me atleast I'm still planning on getting a setup with thier AR 550 plates and more than likely getting one of their level IV setups a few months after. And definitely getting them fully coated and sleeved.

    Great job on the video, guys!
    I have two of Spartan AR550 11"x14" plates, and I can surely tell you that they are beasts!
    I keep the plate carrier in the trunk of my Lincoln Continental along with my Sig Sauer MPX 2nd gen. Also with the plate carrier are six (6) 30-round mags with handloaded 147gr. JHP ammo that are about 95% max loads.
    I am always ready to intervene a threat if needed in an active shooter situation. I have 100% confidence in Spartan!!!

    Hey Spartan Armor I have a question.
    Can Level 3+ stop 7.62x51 AP and 7.62x54R AP?

    • @SpartanArmorSystems
      @SpartanArmorSystems  Год назад +1

      Hello there,
      The level III+ can defeat the 7.62X51R but it cannot defeat armor piercing rounds. If you are looking to be protected from amor piercing rounds, that would be our Level IV, as that level can defeat up to the .30-06 M2AP.

  • @frankopanklaric
    @frankopanklaric 2 года назад +1

    Can someone please answer if any armor is better than none at all? For instance, can lvl 3 armor save you from a 7.62 nato ap round eventhough it isnt rated for it? Or are you just as dead as with no armor? Thank you.

    • @SpartanArmorSystems
      @SpartanArmorSystems  2 года назад +9

      Only in the case that you either get real lucky and the round is slowed down by penetrating through dense objects before hitting your armor plate or you're at an extreme distance from the shooter to where the velocity of the round has decreased significantly. It's not something you would want to bet your life on. Each body armor is designed to protect against certain types of rounds. An armor piercing .30-06 round would punch through level III body armor so you would want to buy level IV body armor such as our Ares or Hercules ceramic body armor if you're concerned about this issue.

  • @alphawolfgang173

    some say m193 out of a 20' barrel will penetrate ar550 plates but i cant find any videos of this happening. i am curious since i bought some ar550 and would like to know what the plates limits are.

    • @SpartanArmorSystems
      @SpartanArmorSystems  2 года назад +3

      A very good question. The factor here to focus on is velocity, which is effected by barrel length but also distance from target. Based on laboratory test results, we've seen AR550 steel handle a velocity of up to 3,280 fps for M193. This was at a distance of 50 feet.

    If ceramic armor is in storage, on a cool dry shelf, does it somehow break down? Or is the five year life based on daily motion and use, so the storage life is really fairly unlimited?

    • @SpartanArmorSystems
      @SpartanArmorSystems  2 года назад +1

      Under perfect conditions it's possible to get more life out of ceramic plates. It's hard to say exactly how long because every situation is different. The adhesives can degrade over time.

    • @lyfandeth
      @lyfandeth 2 года назад

      @@SpartanArmorSystems Thanks. I didn't realize an adhesive binder was used.

    • @SpartanArmorSystems
      @SpartanArmorSystems  2 года назад

      Sorry, that was a typo. I meant "adhesion", as the layers are bound using heat. Another issue is that the backer itself can break down in extreme heats but we're talking near 140 F to be a concern.

    Since when is 3000 FPS + 223 considered slow moving?

    • @SopaDeQuesoCaliente
      @SopaDeQuesoCaliente 2 года назад

      They refer to it as slow moving because there is ammo for those rifles that move faster than the rounds tested. If it goes faster, it has a better chance at penetration.
