I just ordered some of their trauma pads for my carrier. My buddy has some of their plates and has been really happy with this company and their customer service. Thank god he has never had to use the plates in real life. For everyone with plates, don't forget the trauma pads!

Love my Spartan Armor Leonidas plate carrier and complete set of advanced triple curve AR550 lvl 3+ plates with full build up anti spall coat and trauma pads. It’s not a light weight rig by any means but its solid level of protection and the carrier makes it much more comfortable to wear for an extended period of time.

Shit just doesn’t make sense to me. By the time you spend the extra money on padding and carriers why wouldn’t you just use ceramic plates? If the only reason is “it can take multiple hits” you’re a clown, this isn’t calm of duty. Armor is meant to take 2-4 rounds to give you enough time to return fire. They’re not meant to take hundreds of rounds you’re not terminator lmao. So with that said, ceramic is far better at energy absorption, it’s lighter, cooler and it stops bigger rounds than steel. There’s nothing but downsides to using steel.

You should combine the trauma pad and spall sleeve into one. Itd be a lot easier for consumers because if they need one they probably need the other. Just my opinion. Scorpion tactical does that but theirs seems to be of questionable quality

Note about plate carrier quick releases. I had 2 Kydex quick release slides for both sides of my plate carrier cummerbund, I was at Skirmish Paintball Invasion of Normandy 2021 5000 player game with that set up. I hit the ground first thing off the mock boat and both quick releases opened up. For reference when making a quick release plate carrier. Only one side needs to open, Which mine is my left, those Kydex sliders will open on their own given real combat movement. I run one Kydex on left side, then regular buckle. UR Tactical Integrated Plate Carrier, Hong Kong. Please make this style.

As a police officer, I have been a spartan customer for years. The vest I wear daily includes two AR550 plates (front and back) and underneath that I wear Level 3A Kevlar to absorb the energy. If any Spartan employee is reading this, I have a question. Does combining the AR550 steel with my L3A Kevlar make my load out a L4? And I have seen some people put the soft armor *INFRONT* of steel plates, to mitigate spalling. Is there any truth to this, or is it best to just coat it with your anti spalling material and wear the Kevlar closest to your body? Thanks

While we haven't tested it in a laboratory, we did recently test our AR550 plates with our IIIA Flex Fused Core behind it against 30-06 M2AP and it did fully stop the AP round. Now would I trust my life with it? No, definitely not. As for the spall question, it can help. Most spall shoot to the outside edge of the plate though so a full coat is definitely advised.

Ever thought of adding Dyneema to the front face of the steel armor? I wonder if it will have a significant decrease in spalling?

I love these videos of companies putting out this is answering alot of my concerns. only thing, is why don't they work on a hiretech spall containment sleeve along with the coating only reason I say this is, the edges were the spelling would fly up through seem like they're made out of material that should be the same as the strike face like an kevlar ring. Anyways love the videos. I think Spartan armor is going to be my choice.

would a D30 underplate theoretically absorb at least a decent amount of the trauma? theyre used in impact protection for motorcycles so it might do some good to keep inbetween you and the plate.

If I get the “Spartan AR550 BODY ARMOR” (Triple Curve), can it be used with the trauma pads & “SPARTAN ARMOR SYSTEMS SPALL CONTAINMENT SLEEVE”? Just want to confirm if the plates will fit with the trauma pads and containment sleeves within the plate carrier. Thanks in advance 🙏🏼

    • @SpartanArmorSystems

Yes, they should. I would recommend our Achilles or Leonidas Legend plate carriers as they have ample room in the armor pockets to fit thicker plates.

I’ve watched several vids from you guys and elsewhere on what to actually expect when getting hit. Most likely the Leonidas package is in my near future. Realistically speaking, if you were unlucky enough to get hit by one rifle round but lucky enough not to be hit by a second, what might the user expect assuming trauma pads and full gear setup is used? How different might this hypothetical situation be with say, a 9mm round? Appreciate any links to vids or other info!

Just buy ceramic. It protects against bigger and faster rounds, it’s lighter, it’s cooler, it absorbs energy FAR better than steel do no need for bulky pads that just make it hot and sweaty. There’s ZERO benefits to wearing steel over ceramic. There’s a reason no militaries use them

So what makes spartan armor systems different from Armored Republic?

    • @SpartanArmorSystems
      @SpartanArmorSystems  2 года назад +6

That's a lot to discuss but overall, just better quality at every step in the manufacturing process. We laser cut our steel where they plasma cut and grind their steel. Our single curve full coat AR550 plate is NIJ certified, where their plates just meet NIJ specs. Their "multi curve" is the same as our base level single curve and our Advanced Triple Curve is a true multi curve design, making it far more comfortable We also offer level IV plates which we make in house, our Ares and Hercules plates are far superior to what they have to offer. Our lead times are typically much lower to despite the large volume of orders we receive.

Yah, the NIJ thinks you will be able to stuff something bigger than a golf ball through your ribs and sternum.
MAYBE you can survive that, but really? You want to pound golf balls under your skin? I'd really love to understand the NIJs thinking.

The reality is that almost no one has died from blunt force trauma. There's recovery time, but it takes an elephant gun to do enough BFT to end someone wearing soft armor.
