@@johnm3659 I shoot occluded with some tape over the front of the glass so I haven’t been able to monitor carbon build up unfortunately. It’s a good habit to clean the front glass each time after shooting if you don’t have something covering it otherwise there can be a thin film layer of carbon that gets stuck on the face of the glass. Paragon has some optic lens cleaner that works good. But I would guess it’s maybe 10% or 20% worse on Glock then than an optic that goes vertical instead of having a bump out like the rmr hd. I can’t speak for other guns that the optic sits even closer to the ejection port. The optic face is currently 1/4-1/2” away from the ejection port on Glock. Having a piece of tape on the front blocks all of it and shooting occluded can help you be more target focused. It’s not a big concern of mine to where I wouldn’t buy one. I think the pros outweigh the cons for this optic. Hope this helps.
@ If you clean it off every range session there’s no problem, that’s recommended anyway. I don’t think it being a bigger dust bowl is a big factor. Rcr is a good choice, I like this rmr hd open emitter for conceal carry.
Got my RMR HD working and I peeped the GL-470 you got. They look perfect for me, I'm just debating whether or not the cost of ~$50 for the sights (they're on sale on PSA right now) + the additional cost to get them installed, is worth it. I don't have anything that I could use to install the sights myself, so I would have to use a gunsmith and I've heard that they charge upwards of $25 to install. So for $75 total, wondering if it's really worth taking that plunge.
@@JesseSevenSixTwo glad to hear that. Was it just the battery? I wouldn’t worry about getting them right now. Back up iron sights on a pistol are kind of controversial and overrated. They look good on paper and for peace of mind but I don’t think they’re necessary. You’ll be using your red dot 99% of the time. If you’re tight on money, that 75$ could be put to better use somewhere else like training, ammo, a flashlight for your pistol or whatever your needing.
@@GearAndGuns Yeah, the battery it came with was at like 2%. Got a new battery and it instantly started working again. I’ll put that $75 towards ammo, thanks for the advice
@@JesseSevenSixTwo battery is usually the issue especially if it’s a cheap off brand one. Ammo is a good choice, or if your pistol doesn’t have a flashlight that’s a necessity. No problem.
@@GearAndGuns Flashlight really necessary? I was thinking about getting a Streamlight TLR 7-A but was advised not to because I'm not gonna be clearing rooms in a dark area, it will add unnecessary weight, and turning a light on in the dark might make me a highly visible target to shoot at. What are your thoughts on this?
Also pretty sure I would have to purchase a new holster along with it. I currently have a Tier 1 Concealed Axis Elite, and I didn't select the Streamlight option on it because I didn't think I would get a flashlight. Not sure if it would still fit in or not.

@@Born2doom I just got a back in stock notification from Midwest USA. Just checked and the 3.25 moa is still in stock. How badly does the window get caked up with carbon being so close to the ejection port?

Pretty bad for for me, another thing to note is the bigger window = bigger dust bowl... ultimately I went with the RCR
