I love it! I was born and raised on The Allman Brothers Band! I love Dickey Betts and their boys are Rockin It! Billy Strings takes it Beyond the Beyond for sure! 💫
Me too! I Couldn't agree with you more...but I do! I'm 75 and it hurts to see the great ones I grew up with (and I'm going back to the 50s, thanks to my bobbysoxer Aunt Penny RIP who played Little Richard, Chuck Berry, Jerry Lee, Elvis, etc, etc, on 45s while babysitting me) and was so influenced by, not only in music, but all the arts, (I'm still not sure if Kerouac was positive or negative, probably both lol). However, thanks to the Great Spirit, the Ancestors progeny carry on...only better, and stronger. Sorry, I could go on and on, but, for your sake, I won't.🤑
Seems like he is trying to look exactly like him which to me is odd, wouldn't a son want to have his own identity? Then again I suppose the money is in doing Allman stuff and looking like the Allmans.
Man! This is incredible!!!!! I'm looking at a picture of Gregg right now and the chills are just...well, you know what chills do...they let you know WHAT IS TRUE!!!!! Thank you so much!!!!! I want this played while my ashes are drifting away on a Lynn, MA, Red Rock Reservation sea breeze!!!!!. I'm 75, extremely grateful to be alive, and satisfied that the good things I've done will outweigh the bad. Sorry, I DO go on.
@@danvaught5905 My feelings, totally. The ancestry and the DNA is passed on. But, all too often brainwashed (whitewashed in primary and secondary education) or destroyed by drugs and alcohol.
I love this band!! I saw the Greg Allman band at Bonita lakes (Hattiesburg MS) which was in 1998. Great show. I only got to see the allman brothers one time which was in Pensacola Fl in the fall of 2001 at the old bayfront auditorium, which was torn down many years ago.
Billie is incredible. The shame is some old timers find it hard to respect someone so young that clearly cannot have paid the dues they have. But, Billie is an incredible talent and when everyone sees it first hand, he will climb to heights never attained even by the GOATers, yet.
These kids are BORN with the Blues, but they also have to know how to play, which they do, and, they remain true. Yet, is the key word here. I mean, who could ever be better than, say, Little Richard? Nick Curran comes close, but yet. So, I dig what you're saying man. And look at Butter! White kid, criticicized for aping in Rolling Stone?? Man, if you've ever seen him play, I'm talking (maybe too much) sat at a front table at an intimate Blues club, like Lennie's on The Pike on Rte 1 in MA. There's NO DOUBT that he was born with The Blues. He was Muddy"s under study on the South Side for crying out loud. No one will ever top him. Except maybe for The Harmonicats! Hahahaha. Always leave 'em laughing's what I say.
I just love that Berry's kid just puts off a positive vibe regardless of what's going down. He's happy to be part of it even when Devon is so often struggling.
I remember being at the concert the very first time the original boys played this live!!!! Man was the crowd electrified, it was awesome!!!!! Thousands of people were singing, just incredible!!!
You had the two guitars just right and it was great......then the hat .........but...when you panned stage left you got the lead singer playing for the crowd.......Could not of been any better. Great video! tHanks!
As good as Billy is, Duane is showing him how to jam. In Billy's world, they take turns. The Allman Brothers and Allman Betts will do that too but they would just as soon play over, under and around one another. Either way this show was a treat.
Without a doubt. It has my favorite song of Greg's , Queen of Hearts. Something about that song that has just stuck with me from the very first time I heard it.
His electric is a bit awkward, cramming notes with very little space and dynamics. I can see where the bluegrass side is clashing with the rock. Still, this is an impromptu jam so very few people would just step in and go SRV on it. Billy is definitely one of the great guitar players going today.
@@clarklester406 Dude, I am well aware of Jeff Becks talent..followed him since Yardbirds in the 60's, have most of his albums on vinyl..., saw him live at Royal Albert Hall in May... bloody awesome guitar playing as always! Have you not heard Billy Strings? The kid is a guitar wizard..plays a lot of bluegrass and also jams with Allman Bros. and he's still in his 20's. Also would dig seeing Beck on stage with John Mayer...another monster player. Creative people can often stimulate each other to make magic happen when they get together.
Larry, Clark doesn't play. He don't get the pocket. When it happens... they were all great here. Good camera work and sound as well. We're lucky to see this. Enjoy it!
I hope Billy is the gye in the hat! He was the gye ho was the driver in this. Bu i think you ho know nothing thougt the gye in green was playing all the good parts.
Jeff Bridges on vocal and rythym guitar ? ? Dickey Betts looks great ! ! He didn't have any work done on his face, did he ? ? He looks like he lost a $hit ton of weight.
Dickie Betts still owes me for a show he f’d up in Saratoga Springs in the early 90’s. He was too messed up to play and had to be taken off the stage. Greg’s vocals were pitiful also. Worst show ever.
You got a story out of it. If it had been a great show, you probably would have less memory of it. I saw them in the mid 1990s twice and they were great, but I don't remember any of it other than Don Johnson joining them onstage to sing "Ramblin' Man." I was surprised that he was a good singer.
Or, keeping it alive and the bread in the family. My son is unable to carry on anything of our music due to his disabilities, so I'm glad they are playing very well and I can feel the love .please try to feel some too.

I hope they all keep doing this an never stop. We need this so bad , all the new music is crap.
Crap, indeed. Fake music.
Man, Betts looks just like his father. And Billy Strings continues to amaze. Great-sounding band, all.

first thing I thought ! Looks like Dicky Betts 40+ years ago !!
YES!. Take a look at Willie's kids.
Holy Shit! Does the heart good to see and hear real musicians playing real music for a change . thanks for sharing.
Man, I'm with you!
Allman Betts definitely inherited the flat out boogie jam gene.... And Billy is in his element jamming with them. They hit the zone.
Is there anything Billy doesn't hit out of the park...?
@1040north I couldn't have put it better.
Duane Betts "Inherited" it through practice and developed skill. Devon Allman is riding his Father's coat tails.

Thought it was Dicky from a distance for a few minutes,Lol my goodness this is great to keep the music going.
It's still good to be able to hear these old songs again!
Yes! Performed with the known lineage and yet it sounds fresh! The band definitely puts its own stamp on these beloved songs of ABB!

Dickie Betts is just loving dueting with Billy Strings. The expression on his face and in his eyes shows it.
Dickie Betts is not there. That's his son Duane with the 335.

Betts appreciates Billy's talent for sure as we all do.
You can tell.
They're feeding off of each other. Which is the way it should be, AND ALWAYS WILL BE!!! OMgosh those high notes!!! MORE!!!
Almost didn't recognize Billy with short hair, but boy can that boy play! The band was great too. Loved it.

I did a festival show yrs ago with Devon Allman and Dwayne Betts.
Crazy how much Duane resembles Dickie - physically and vibe

Billy Strings-touched by the God-Head. Doesn't hurt that the cat practices more than the next guy, either!

Midnight Rider is on Gregg's solo album "Laid Back', some of his best work.

It's like the 70s again. When bands jammed
Great performance. First time seeing Billy (the acoustic flat picker man) on electric guitar.......
Billy is every bit as expert at electric guitar as he is acoustic! Love to see this side as well.
His electric is a bit awkward, cramming notes with very little space and dynamics. I can see where the bluegrass side is clashing with the rock. Still, this is an impromptu jam so very few people would just step in and go SRV on it. Billy is definitely one of the great guitar players going today.
