This is one of my dads song he wants played at his funeral the original orchestra part at the beginning is killer! He always told me this when I didn’t get my way!! You get what you need
Now who opens up with a bluegrass cover of one of the coolest Stones songs ever written, on Halloween evening, in Halloween gear , in Asheville N.C ?? Billy fuckin Strings !! Tell me that man don’t know his audience
So good ty for Billy. The whole scene needs you to keep on with what you're doing. It does not always make sense but you're doing exactlt what you were put here on this planet to do 💚💖💚
the best of the 3 nights. too many peaking moments to count. fun to go back thru the run and see how each song's name/subject/theme lined up with that point of the movie. at this point You Cant Always Get What You Want is referring to the characters realizing the Wizard was a fraud and their wishes would not be coming true.
I loved the theme for the weekend. It’s a big task to pull off three acts and interweave originals and covers. This was the only night I was at, wish I had been there all weekend.
@@dirkevans3443 ah okay gotcha, yeah I completely agree, I thought they were weird about covers of their own songs and I didn't know or something 😂haha
@@Jay-lr3me not that I’ve ever heard of but I do know they’ve covered several other artist material thru out the years such as “Ain’t To Proud to Beg” by the Temptations who went on record saying they were appalled at the Stones cover of it to which Keith replied (in perfect Keith style) “Well, F’em if they can’t take a joke!” LOL
I really like these guys and I generally like their covers, but there's a limit to what transfers well from one genre to the next. I don't think this rendition does justice to this song or this band. Covering select Dead songs is one thing, this is something else. What's next's, a bluegrass version of Comfortably Numb?
Ha Ha Ha... "bluegrass version of Comfortably Numb?" Was that a question or a request?? The covers of Fearless and Brain Damage prove if anyone could pull off a bluegrass version of Comfortably Numb it'd be this band. But... to each his own.
A straight Stones cover was a peaking moment? Our bar is way too low. Remember Country Strangers, Doyle Lawson and Quicksilver, or Tony Rice, Dixie Gentlemen, etc. etc? They played to small crowds at levels or creativity and performance that cast great shadows. Finally, BS band really needs danceability considering their fanbase ie drums (maybe two drummers).. and vocal harmony work. And more psych sound to match the excellent lightshow and lights. influenced by many Monroe and Stanley etc. shows just my opinion..
The WHOLE POINT of Billy's music, at least to me and many others I know, is that it ISN'T straight bluegrass music. If it was, and was lyrically filled with "Grandma getting run over by a reindeer" and "Daddy's drunk driving his pickup again" tropes, I wouldn't listen. Neither would many of his newer fans. Like many, I play some rock guitar and "Dust" initially drew me in with the brilliant playing, only to be led down the road like a rat to the Pied Piper into what turned out to be excellent, lyrically rich songs. He's just fucking amazing. Who cares what he covers at his live shows? He can do whatever the hell he wants! Why denigrate that? The beauty and strength of this band is all the nods it gives to all that came before and influenced their music, as they change it and make it better. Rock music evolved. All music does. And I will catch flack for this, but this musicanship is another order of magnitude above the Dead. I've seen the GD a few times and they could be unbelievably sloppy with playing and harmonies, something I have NEVER found with these dudes. Anyway, going to my first show in Cincinnati in March and I am super stoked. I'm still trying to figure out a way to sneak my acoustic into the show for him to sign like I'm a 9 year old kid hoping Brady will sign his football.
play with del mccoury at a phish festival or something? i used to love phish but, this is the stupidest comment. billy and the kids? i dont think billy has a string attached to phish...........................................has he ever played a phish song?
Just when I thought modern music was dead, Billy Strings came along. Thank you. Strings, and the whole band, are a rock.
Awesome. Need more rock/blue. Dude Rocks!!!
Mr. Billy Strings, you have out done yourself. You and the band now own this tune. Super❤
Gosh darn I wish I could give a million thumbs to the sky! Billy sounds so fuckin good playing and singing Franklin's!!!
We sing this classic to our students when they are whining! Great way to intro the classics 👌
Love this... Best dirty rock band ever played by one of the best musicians on the planet (notice I didn't say guitarists)
Before Billy and his band came along I would have said “you can’t do The Rolling Stones with a Bluegrass band!” Never bet against Billy and the boys.
Billy Strings gives you what you want. You get what you need
Well, that is true esp for the E TN contingent; WSP played same tune here 3 months prior and brought down house as ever.
Ohh Yes I will never get enough love always your Sunshine 🔥🔆
Look ma, the Stones popped up in a WV holler sounding as good as ever.

Absolutely!! Best show I've seen in a long time

I thought it had to do with The Big Chill.

For many of his "popular music" covers I think, well it was a nice try but ummm, no. Not this one. Nailed it.
right? its so smooth.
Of all the covers, I was partial to Crown of Thorns, but I’m a huge Pearl Jam fan.

everybody loves the stones and he can do whatever the fuck he wants so you should just eat it up and enjoy because you cant always get what you want
