It's not just a western activity. Skating is done globally in all the 6 continents. South Africa also has a very vibrant skating community, good skaters. I'm surprised you aren't aware.
@@vern_254 I've never seen them out and about. I was in Cape Town in December on the sea front where you'd expect to see loads of them but it was just me and my friend. If there is a large skating community, they are probably hidden inside walled estates due to the crime and violence. You're definitely never going to see commuting on skates either, just as you don't see people cycling to work. And as for Western, all I meant was that it was invented by Westerners and is predominantly participated in by Westerners.
