well, he had to slow down many times to not pass the skater though. so he kinda invited the struggle to shoot through the nooks and crannies with the skater by continuously slowing down to stay behind the skater. from what i saw in this video, the cyclist would've been long gone if he had opted to pass him.

I'm a street skater of 20 years and I skate daily pretty much everywhere I need to go. I've pulled off some insane recoveries, a couple almost as dramatic as 3:15 but I guarantee that man saw his life flash before his eyes. His skills prevented him getting hurt, injuring or scaring anyone else much it seems. Still, super reckless, at least he had a helmet but I never use one, just wrist guards. I'm considerate though and wouldn't endanger pedestrians like that, flexing for the camera can get people killed, especially street skating somewhere busy.
Yea, this stunt could have easily gone sideways. It shows that sometimes you have a goal in mind, but it doesn't always execute according to plan. Plan in advance, but also have a plan B for when something can go wrong. He ended up endangering the pedestrians because he was going waaaay too fast.
I thought I recognized the skates, but when he started started playing on the traffic poles I knew that was the stuttering skater. The sense of speed from the chase cam is neat.

This was a pleasure to watch from a different perspective other than his insta360 he uses for his content. I enjoyed the smooth steady level and the streets of NYC. Wish I lived in US, love the roads and surfaces. Been inline skating for few years now but theres no city with such scale as NYC, and im saying that living in London. NYC is totaly different vibe.
i've been watching a lot of street skaters on youtube. the stuttering skater is the best street skater i have seen. his quickness and agility is top notch. his speed as well. his reaction time is amazing.
I honestly don’t understand how he can be so confident zipping through red lights or weaving into spaces he barely fits between cars that no one is going to turn him into a pancake.
