The combination of time of day, weather, landscape, music, camerawork and video processing makes this a bloody piece of art. What a way to start the day too.

It’s not bloody though.

Recovering from my 3rd knee surgery in the past year. Ill never ride like that again due to some unforseen circumstances throughout this process that has left me pretty disabled. Your video brought me back to the time I did a palm springs 100mile ride that took us deep in the desert. Wasn't too hilly, but def had a calmness to the ride. There was a point where my buddy and I were deep into the zone. He would lead, then I would. We stretched like that for miles. No talking, no gestures, no nothing. Just the road and our grit. Thank you for sharing such an amazing ride.
I miss my bike. I miss my life prior to my injuries. I miss it all. Don't take your health and body for granted.
Recover and have a good one man…. Hope
You can ride soon keep grinding
How it was happen?
Sorry to hear brutha I don’t want to take mines for granted thanks for the wisdom 🤙🏾
When I was younger, I used to ride down hill a mountain with a group of cyclists at 60+ mph. We also ran through stop signs and traffic lights and got screamed at by drivers. Looking back, I am grateful that I didn't end up dead or paralyzed for my recklessness. For those who are inspired to do the same thing after watching this video, I say don't even try unless you are an experienced rider and know the road really well. Your cool looking helmet is not going to save you from a nasty spill at 65mph or a head on collison with an unexpected vehicle coming at you around the corner. There's a reason you don't see many old dare devils.
You'll recover soon man, I pray that you go on such rides again!
it's weird how doing 65 in a car is like nothing, boring day to day commute, but 65 on a bike is heavenly
The sensations from a fast ride on a bike are on the different level
he looks really tired for riding downhill the whole way
30 on a bicycle is terrifying, lol. I'll leave this to the professional.
Until a bug goes into your eye 😅
Same lol 😅
Doing those big turns at 60mph is insane. For me it's scary to turn at like 25.
on slick tires that was a crazy feet of skill. his got alot of experience on slick tires to know where the sweet spot is
I think the speed indiactor in the video is quite inaccurate though
Having gone 45 mph myself on a bike, it becomes about picking efficient lines at speed -- and realizing that to turn fast means turning little. In some ways, it becomes like riding a motorcycle, except the weight is a lot more controllable.

The speeding ticket is definitely the medal
and a bread or something to eat
Watching this is like I'm dreaming. The sights, the sounds, the speed...total bliss
Forgot to mention ignoring all the speed limits :P
I was watching the 1986 Tour de France another day and back then they were doing 60 mph on the descents. Beautiful to watch the old classic bikes.
@@Hour882Die That would be scary on a steel frame with most likely 20mm tubular tyres ...terrifying

That landscape with the mountains in the background is absolutely beautiful
It took me 3 1/2 hours to climb that hill during the Badwater 135. Seeing him do it in reverse that fast is incredible. For those that don't know, it's 13 miles with a vertical mile of different between the bottom and the top of that road.

Bro that’s quite insane. Vertical height is one mile from bottom to top of the road
The sheer scale of this valley blows me away, the sense of depth and parallax. North America is blessed with some of the greatest landscapes in the world.

I have to disagree there’s pretty landscapes in US, Mexico and specially Canada but the one in this video is just unimpressive. It’s like the most common landscape in North America.

really? it looked ugly as hell. Most of the US is boring flat farm land. British columbia in Canada is amazing tho
The saddle color-matched with the tires has a really neat touch to it. I love it!
I remember the first time I went 55 on my bike. My only thought was, "if I wipe out, it's not going to matter so just enjoy it and relax." Needless to say, I was scared to even tap the brake. Beautiful video.

@@eefmeca lol, thanks!
Exactly...Fastest I've gone in my area is about 47mph give or take. But the hill I can get these speeds on is only about 30 seconds long of a ride at that speed. But yes, it's an extremely steep hill. Granger Road Hill in Cleveland, Ohio.
@@eefmeca huh?
today i went head to head with a moped on the main road with a friend and thinking about when we passed the guy still makes me happy, its the fastest ive ever gone on a bicycle and im proud of going 80 km/h

Wow,awesome descent.Brian picks up speed so quickly, and his hair doesn't seem to slow him down.😁
Seems that all he ever does is descend. Probably brings the bike up the mountain with a car every ride lol
SAFA - the only cyclist I know of that honestly has to be concerned about speed traps.
anyone can get to 55. for his speeds you need warm weather, time trial clothes, and a good road

yeah technically bicycles have to follow the speed limit too so when they passed a 30 sign going 50 they could be pulled over if a cop saw them lol
kudos to that cyclist (3:20) who rode a long way to the top
This has to be one of my all time favourites. The setting, the speed, the music. just perfect .
as a photographer, I have to say that the photography in this is jaw dropping and I don't know how you can do it.
I wonder what camera he used and how he moutned it
This should be shown to aliens about us
Shot around 8:20 is unreal.
Bloody great camera work👌
His speed with the backdrop mtns moving ever so slowly is surreal.
I like how he takes a glance at it too
This is literally one of the best cycling vids I have ever seen. Everything from the scenery, to the speed, to the music, it's perfection.
...to that strange moment when rider looks into the camera and everything looks either fake or a set! This was so good I'd buy a whole series of these vids to loop: like a 6 runs per video dvd (if dvds are even sold anymore). As a kid my dad would watch SyberVision before leaving the house to ski, and anyway, I'd do the same with this. Incredible!
I agree. Epic. I wish I could do it if I could guarantee my safety
The road is amazing. No pot holes.
Can we appreciate the score in the background? Feels like I'm watching a Michael Mann film
Going 60mph in a car is mundane, but on a bike it removes every sense of protection. Wind hitting your skin and vibrations through your body force you to confront the situation you’re in. It’s a weird mixture of peace, satisfaction, being present, with jolts of fear.
105km/h! Is that the fastest you've ever gone on a bike? If not what is?
The shot at 8:20 is surreal. Another awesome film. Thanks Safa
How does he not get the death wobbles at this speed!?
5:36 is where it’s 65mph
@@davidjoseph7142 I wouldn’t ride that fast wearing that he’s wearing if you crash you would be very very lucky I need a heavy gear on this
Those are not 105 km/h, it's all a lie
That’s really fast. We don’t have any roads like this in the UK so if you’re reaching 50mph or averaging 40mph over a 90 second segment then you’re pretty darn quick. Well done!
When i descent with my mtb bicycle, even 50 km/h feels fast for me. İ can't imagine how fast does it feel to go faster than 100 km/h. The wide view angle of the camera makes the sensation of speed slower than what you will feel if you were riding that fast. Also great camera work.
There's something that feels special about reaching that speed on a bicycle. Even when you ride a motorcycle, it doesn't feel the same...
60mph on a motorcycle just feels normal (if it's not your first time of course, But it will still become normal), You are on a powerful machine built with road comfort and control.. Plus you have a helmet/visor on so don't feel the elements lol. A bicycle is a much more fragile manual machine, At any high speed, Let alone 60, You are gonna feel that fragility which will bring more self awareness, And probably more nervousness, And so that speed will be more apparent.
Bravo, sir. Great power and plenty of courage. And good job of cameraman.
I’m not into cycling but this has to be one of the most attractive videos i ever saw on internet.
Heaven on Earth. Wonderful shots. Amazing ambient sounds. Perfect.
Pure gold! This channel is therapy for me. The vibe, speed, scenery and production quality win me over every time. Also, the Eastern Sierra and desert region including Death Valley is one of my favourite places in the world - beautiful and otherworldly.
Double cheeked up pedalling through the dessert oh lawd have mercy
It's insane to me to do something like that without a full suit. If his tires slipped out he'd lose all the skin on his hands arms legs and probably face as well. Props to the dedication and courage it takes to do this. Great video. Bike looks as good as it is fast too.
why cant we get this kind of quality watching the tour de france? Great video guys.
This veideo is the most calming video I've watched in a while where someone was doing something crazy. You make this look so damn easy to keep the bike stabalized and running smoothly. I bet you had to change out the bearings after this ride?
Its incredible how fast modern racing bikes can be ridden ! I owned a Klein Adroit XTR back in the mid nineties and the fastest I ever rode it was 45 MPH .
Ppl descended at this speed or quicker in the 90’s
Nothing better than an early morning rid3 with the sun coming up.
Stevie Ray Vaughan - Third Stone from the Sun (from Live at the El Mocambo) is the perfect soundtrack for this amazing descent.
Great view and good choice of music. Looked like a fun ride.
Love the scenery, and that silky smooth road.
Wow, that is what anyone would call a ride! I love the way the video was taken, it felt as we were in another planet.
His hair isn't aero. He could've gone Mach 1 if only he tied his hair
Wow! That was a superb descent. They also have the best place to refuel afterwards at the Alabama Hills Cafe.
Masterpiece.
Awesome SAFA, this should be entered as a short in film fests.
Camera work, editing, soundtrack, location, mood , atmosphere, badass, had me psyched to the point I expected "Dragonaut" to drop at the 8min mark!! Thanks for all the work...very inspirational.
Agree 100% def up there for a contender in film making
Waited a whole year for this one and it was well worth the wait!! I was able to snag top 10 on this back in November but you still smoked me by 3 minutes which is bananas! 🤯
Right I don’t even think I got top 10 too much wind when I was there
Three minutes faster on the descent? Wow!!
Sheesh
Imagine if he had better gearing and more aero
@@Daniel-ng8fi yes, maybe gearing specifically for a descent like this...
Doing 55+ mph down a mountain on a road bike I had a rear tube blowout. It was a miracle that I didn't crash, which would have been really, really bad. Since then I moderated my speed a bit.
Fair play to this lad! It takes a helluva lot of practice and balls to do this. I’ve averaged 48mph over a mile on a local decent and it felt mega fast. I was thinking if I come off here it’s not gonna end well!! 55-65 must be unreal.

Yes!!! World-class
Spectacular landscape. Climbing that must feel like it never ends. It's a really attainable descent for most riders as it's not mega steep, corners aren't too sharp, road is wide, well sighted, lacking traffic and good surface. Would love to do it one day. Beats the hell out of 20-40% grades, terrible surfaces, tight unsighted corners and lots of cars round here - all of which are pretty terrifying.
except for the cars part, those are what i do gravel for :D
Thank you for this video!! And love the music by Joseph Beg
Which song is it?
It's amazing! Very beautiful!
Question: what is location? California?
In England we don't have super long climbs / descents like this. I wish we did ! I Would really love to take on this one. My best speed on a descent was 59mph / 95kph down Winnats Pass in the Peak District. This is just 1.6k long at average 12.1% max 18% (although there is a short spike at 28% quoted on some maps) and the road is narrow
This was done on a rare day with no traffic during the pandemic and I was still gathering speed when I had to brake for the steel cattle grid across the road with stone walls either side, The run was terror inducing yet thrilling at the same time.
Absolutely gnarly! At 60 mph, you lose any semblance of spokes, and the bike looks as if it’s simply suspended perfectly center of the tires. Beautiful stuff man, you’re a beast Safa!
Damn, I cycle to school on the daily, maxing out at 15-18mph, and THAT feels fast-ish. Can’t imagine how that feels.
I’d figure, feels like you’re moving thru everything super fast while everything around you remains slow yet fast. The music describes is pretty well
dang hitting like 140 rpm at ~45 mph is nuts, Once i go over about 115 my stroke is all over the place, would not work at that speed! Excellent video. I love how you present the stats now.
That looks like fun

Off white and light green scenery, gorgeous landscape… and what a descent, 100kph 👏 Amazing to see you focus while seeing your stomach’s heavy breathing! Congrats to the cameraman as well !
FANTASTIC POV/photography.....well done boys! It brought back memories....the spills, the chills, the speed; my fastest was 41....downhill, and I thought I was gonna die.
Of all my pursuits/sports in life....bicycling is definitely the one that beat me up the most. The real Iron-man feat of strength in all this?: straddling the bike frame, crouched, nose on the handle-bars, ALL the way down.
Damn, this is crazy. Big ups man!! 💪🤛👏
Imagine going down on this road with industry nine hubs
65mph is insane. Spectacular.
Everything about this-music, photography, mood-captures what makes the Eastern Sierras so unique. This vast, stark, aired out, beautiful landscape. A loneliness that's almost meditative. And that's all on top of the descending which... well you know. Loved it, thank you.
This is just beautiful. Cycling poetry is what you do, SAFA.
The new Zwift update looks great.
thats freakin nuts
Have you ever encountered a speed wobble when going this fast? I go down on my carbon bike long descents and always seem to get a speed woblle over a certain speed and this happens on totally different bikes for me?
I think it must be the way i sit or I have one leg longer than the other or I get tense and then tense up it seems to happen?
Any ideas appreciated.
a longer stem fixed this for me! but it changes the reach of course so took a bit of experimenting (& stretching?) to find a good fit again
oh, yeah, the death wobbles. It's happened on my giant propel, but never on my cannondale supersix. Scary stuff. Good thing, i do 20x more downhills on my cannondale than my giant...
Noice. I wonder how it would look like on a TT bike
scary
I would advise putting drops on a TT bike because descending at those speeds on TT bars seems like it would be a bit unstable
Incredibly inspiring! I just had my best cycling day ever in 40+ years today and watching puts the perfect cap on the day. I'm inspired to continue to keep improving. Thank you! You've really outdone yourself with this one!

Amazing, I can't believe the trust you have in your bike... Speechless! I remember going to lone pine when I race Badwater and on the way down with a car not even close to your speed. God speed :-)
Imagine being so confident in your bike condition so you can lay on the bend in front of the abyss. Amazing
I've had too many bike crashes to even approach what he's doing. Crash at that speed and you're either dead or messed up long term. This guy must have supreme confidence in his bike handling skills.
I saw a guy crash going about 30mph. He came out relatively ok but the site of him unconscious in the road makes the hair stand up to this day. I think that was also the last time I rode that fast.

That was a special one, in one of the magnificent places on this earth. The part that has me scratching my head is the filming, electric motorcycle? No sounds from the filming vehicle but we hear Brian. How you do that? Nice work!
I climbed that hill in the morning hoping for 65mph and by the time I headed down, there was a headwind :(
He filmed it with a drone. Watch at the end. The guy gives him a fist bump. He has a drone controller in his left hand. It looks like a Dji controller.
@@mycraven4drums Thanks for that. I might have been a better sleuth.
5:27 65 mph WOW!! Now i'm curious if you have deeper rear wheel like 50-60mm would it make you go even faster? or the handling will be too sketchy if you got cross-wind so rather stay with shallow wheel...?
I’m pretty sure the handling would be fine (especially for rear) because he would have such a tiny yaw angel due to the headwind that he’s producing.
It looks like his tires are 32c, I think most aero wheels only go up to 28. So maybe he’s using those wheels because he wants wider tires for better grip
you could have done 70 mph, but the air drag on your gigantic huevos was just too much. Beautiful video.
Superb!
