One or two more clicks of compression damping in the fork helps too. Unfortunately the shock has too much compression damping and that is not adjustable. However decent roads, it still works fine. If there is a lot of root bumps, water depressions, frost heaves, and broken uneven asphalt it will beat you up a bit.

Given the rather controversial design of the newest MT-09 (and 07), this XSR was more than needed ;) This blue painting is awesome, making the bike not just alternative to the ugly MT (oops did i write it? :D ), but quite good looking bike!
@@Schaaf I had the pleasure to drive it daily for 2 weeks, even with my passenger a few times and I really love the seat. Especially as the driver, this shape is just ultra-stabilizes your whole body while accelerating or making some quick turns - guess you felt that too! :)

Yamaha makes a fine single, as they have for 50 years, but this bike has nothing to do with it. Looks like a cool bike, but doesn't have the interesting dual intake and exhaust setup like the xt's and tenere's to give it that extra tone and refinement. That really makes an excellent single, imo.

It really is a shame that the XSR doesn't come as an SP variant. Suspension is probably better than on the last gen XSR I had, but that engine deserves a well adjusted setup right from the factory. Difference between stock and the Wilbers upgrade I did on my XSR was night and day, but I don't think I'll buy another bike where I have to change the suspension to get the optimal experience.
@@sergiodifranco4380 I started to ride it harder after getting more comfortable with it. And after getting to try out a few other bikes with better suspension, I decided it would be worth it. I found it really didn't cope well with bad roads and that the rear shock was too soft. With the Wilbers suspension, it handled beautifully.
Good review. I had the old one, in Yellow, and it was a fun bike. Bad seat though. Really bad on the autobahn. The handlebar vibrates so much that my hands were sleeping and had terrible pains, after riding autobahn for 10 hours.
I've only had a short ride on the XSR900 so far and I wasn't all that happy tbh. The seating position felt quite stretched actually and I didn't feel confident as well - the MT-10 felt way better from the get go. BUT I kinda want to make it work so she definitely gets a second chance (and maybe even a third). As for the sound, the Yamaha takes that one over the Triumph.

There is an XSR 900 locally in this exact blue so I can sit on it, but unfortunately there isn't a Street Triple, so I can't compare the 2.
Do I notice some wobbling on high speed acceleration as well or am I wrong? Was kinda hoping that this would be a Street Triple killer.. Sounds too unstable for that.
I've done about 4000kms on my XSR so far and the only time I've been able to reproduce the wobble seen here was above 230km/h. And even then, only rarely. I think it's a suspension settings issue, or possibly the tires in this video.

@@rxmcord2392 I tested a XSR900 today, and did ride around a big parking space with the Z900RS a couple of weeks ago. I have to say, I like the Yamaha better in terms of handling. Don't get me wrong, you still can drive pretty fast on the Kawasaki too, but you're much more sat ON the vehicle rather than IN the vehicle (like the XSR). 2 interesting thought?? I never rode xsr my bike is f900r I rode 765 rs f900 quick shifter is the worst but TFT is perfect 765 rs quick shifter was perfect but TFT is shit so I am wondering how quick shifter in xsr might be that much better and TFT in every bike is worse than that on BMW
This was in top 3 consideration against the z9rs, but compared to your ride on the zrs the xsr doesn’t seem to hold up in the twisties, and really naughty natured. Great vid 🤙🏽
Hey @ schaaf, in your opinion is this bike much funnier/ faster/ more agile then the tracer 9 gt? Or is it similar? Im riding a naked atm but i like the t9gt especially for long trips, but i am scared that it is too big to have fun.. let me know your opinion man!!
xsr 900 stock supension settings was too soft, once the static sag and the dynamic sag have been adjusted you have to work a lot on the hydraulic part. Even setting the fork return to one click from fully closed is still too fast for me. After a month of testing, compression and rebound are one click away from fully closed on the forks while on the rear the rebound is a 1/4 turn away from fully closed, now it finally performs very very well in almost all asphalt conditions.
Can I ask a few questions? What's your Instagram and Facebook page? From which year is this bike and is it all stock or modified and does it have akrapovic slip-on? What tires do you use? Can you recommend me good ND filters for for GoPro Hero9? In which country was this footage filmed? Thanks in advance!

As usual with your super filming and driving style, I could see you weren't entirely happy in the corners, Schööfl. The bike looks a lot better than the old model XSR, but the Kawa Z900RS is still better.
I'm nowhere near as pro as the other commenters but when you do the walkaround, I look at those wheels and have an impression that the diameter is on a smaller side. It's like looking at someone who's wearing shoes 1 size too small. Perhaps that's the cause of the instability during long sweeps. Prefer the previous model though.
Was just looking at one of these. Absolute hooligan of a bike, just like the MT-09. Love the sound and power of the triple, but ended up buying the Z900RS Cafe. The XSR was just a little too small for me and I wanted to be able to comfortably spend 3-4 hours at a time in the saddle. I also found the handling to be a bit twitchy compared to the Z. Great vid as always.
True. The Z900 is a better cruiser. I had the very first generation of the MT09 and that thing was stupid. Very dangerous, ABS only. No tc or anything else. Did not have those steering dampers too
Great review! I find the mt09/xsr900 lacking feedback in the chassis in terms of the frame design, its a more street oriented frame and not a supersport frame like the street triple. Therefore I feel unconfident when pushing it in the corners.
I love that sound at commuting pace. It's where the original exhaust gets to shine

@@Pfannkuchenkanone thats what i thought against the z900rs that it would be way lighter, i still have to wait a couple years till i can do my full license so for now my z650 will do :) i do prefer te looks of the z900rs if you go full retro maybe even the sound
@@rxmcord2392 I also slightly prefer the looks of the Z900RS. But the XSR900 also looks very nice, especially in person. I stumbled across a pretty good deal for a XSR900 with only a 1000 miles, and yesterday I bought it😸. If I were to buy a Z900RS, I would buy the SE version. The thing is, here in Switzerland, the SE version would have cost me 5000$ more, so I went with the XSR🙌🏼😃
I know that feeling of waiting 2 years for the full license; I just got it 3 weeks ago. Time goes by fast, and before you know it, you'll have completed your 2 years, too😊
Had a test ride on one yesterday and found it too much, I’ve had faster more aggressive bikes but at 53 I just don’t fancy the speed anymore. Took the 700 tribute/legend out straight after that was ideal, 900 is an awesome bike though.
Großartig! Wo bist du unterwegs?
2 interesting thought??
I never rode xsr my bike is f900r I rode 765 rs
f900 quick shifter is the worst but TFT is perfect
765 rs quick shifter was perfect but TFT is shit
so I am wondering how quick shifter in xsr might be that much better
and TFT in every bike is worse than that on BMW
I couldn't care less about bike displays
Markt Piesting, bitte sehr
Been waiting for this one!
Nice
This was in top 3 consideration against the z9rs, but compared to your ride on the zrs the xsr doesn’t seem to hold up in the twisties, and really naughty natured. Great vid 🤙🏽
Yup
I'm surprised about the triumph quick shifter remark. The one on my rally pro is sublime. Which one is that you are referring to or is it all?
Speed Triple RS and new Tiger 1200. The Quickshifter on the 900 Tiger indeed is one of the best which makes their failure even harder to understand
Well, you will feel the difference in weight. And still, you can have tons of fun with the Tracer. It's down to personal preference
xsr 900 stock supension settings was too soft, once the static sag and the dynamic sag have been adjusted you have to work a lot on the hydraulic part. Even setting the fork return to one click from fully closed is still too fast for me. After a month of testing, compression and rebound are one click away from fully closed on the forks while on the rear the rebound is a 1/4 turn away from fully closed, now it finally performs very very well in almost all asphalt conditions.
Thanks
XSR900, good muffler sound.
I like the style of the bike. It's a nice bike.
Thanks
Schaaf👍 This one, Z900RS or Speed Twin? Your choice would be which one for yourself and what would be the main reason? Rgds…
The Speed Twin since it fits the retro concept best
Can I ask a few questions?
What's your Instagram and Facebook page?
From which year is this bike and is it all stock or modified and does it have akrapovic slip-on?
What tires do you use?
Can you recommend me good ND filters for for GoPro Hero9?
In which country was this footage filmed?
Thanks in advance!
I believe his Instagram page is turboschaaf.
Details of the bike are in the description. It's filmed in Austria.

@@wooshbait36 Umm, you did.
Good one lol
Do you think that if lowering the risers and/or the handlebar on the mt-09, you can get more confidence with the front like the xsr900?
No idea
Hi Schaaf!
Hopefully you'll get to ride the 2022 MT-09 SP in the near future. Would love to know your thoughts about it, especially in comparison the XSR 900.
Well, it's better in every aspect. I just don't like the passive seating position of the MT
Hi Schaaf! I'm om the verge of selling my Speed Twin 1200 for this.. Didn't do a test ride yet. My Speed Twin has custom suspension setup for me. What would your advice be?
Do a test ride then ;)
@@Schaaf touche..
Wie immer mega👍💪🤩
Dank dir!
I'm curious if you have ridden the latest gen MT09sp and what is your take on it? I searched your channel but did not see you on the sp.
it's even a fairly recent upload so your research was a bit sh*t haha
@@Schaaf Yamaha botched the XSR900 after 2021. They are bloody awful now. I love my 2020 in heritage Dynamic white/red. 100% stock. You should see how many people think it's a 250 or a 400 learner bike. Too funny.
@YAMAHAXSR900 if I had a 250 that rocketed like this I'd be a very happy man!
@@kangacrew540 It's called under 3 secs to 60mph, 4.5 secs to 100mph and 150mph in 6th around 15 seconds. Great fun.
That shit looks so fast and fun, i want a turn.
Which are the best 300-600cc bikes according to you. I was planning to get a RE GT 650
Any thkughts?
MT 07
Great job !
Thanks
God I love your videos, you are literally the reason I started my own channel 😂 Can I ask a QQ do you use the 180degree shutter rule? I.e 1/48 or 1/50 shutter speed for 24fps? I couldn’t see shitter speed in the description
Shitter speed :D I use auto
@@Schaaf Didn’t even see the typo 😂 cheers buddy
Do you still use the same backpack as in your tutorial video? If not which one do you use now?
Yes but as stated in this video I couldn't. I used a makeshift bag but my original backpack definitely works better
It seems like the front end is kind of wobbly on high speeds... does it affect the handling? looks scary
The suspension simply isn't the best but you can still ride very fast with it
@@Schaaf a few tweaks may improve it perhaps...
Hallo Vale ntin!
I love this bike! My favourite Yamaha
Thanks
Did you ride an a2 license bike, and so, what would you recommend for a taller rider?
CB500X
Simplemente hermoso!
Gracias
Do you prefer this over the street triple?
Nope
Wich engine do you like better, this cp3 or the ninja 1000sx ones?
Depends on the usage
As usual with your super filming and driving style, I could see you weren't entirely happy in the corners, Schööfl. The bike looks a lot better than the old model XSR, but the Kawa Z900RS is still better.
Thanks mate!
Huge disagree on the new model looking better.

the bike sounds like a Flat-6 Engine. nice!
Thanks
hoping it is not blur. so i can see the acceleration above 100.
lol
Is zoom h8 good for raw onboard videos?
Yes
Dream bike for me fr. Currently i got the 155
Nice!
my dad: this schaaf guy knows how to ride
cheers
Thanks Dad
I'm nowhere near as pro as the other commenters but when you do the walkaround, I look at those wheels and have an impression that the diameter is on a smaller side. It's like looking at someone who's wearing shoes 1 size too small. Perhaps that's the cause of the instability during long sweeps.
Prefer the previous model though.
No idea, I'm no pro either :D
Was just looking at one of these. Absolute hooligan of a bike, just like the MT-09. Love the sound and power of the triple, but ended up buying the Z900RS Cafe. The XSR was just a little too small for me and I wanted to be able to comfortably spend 3-4 hours at a time in the saddle. I also found the handling to be a bit twitchy compared to the Z. Great vid as always.
True. The Z900 is a better cruiser. I had the very first generation of the MT09 and that thing was stupid. Very dangerous, ABS only. No tc or anything else. Did not have those steering dampers too
The Z rocks!
mt10 or XSR900 for live?)
ruclips.net/video/UooObHe8ieY/видео.html
weird. I found Triumph quickshifter on par with the Yamaha. On the new Tiger 1200 though it has the best out there
Interesting, both my colleagues and I were not satisfied with the Tiger 1200 Quickshifter
I just watched you on the xsr700 before this and I think you were faster on the 700.
I'm really tempted to upgrade from my 3 year old XSR700 but I'm not even good enough to wring that out, seems like a waste of potential
It's not necessary to wring out a bike in order to enjoy it
Very good Quckshifter, seems to be better, like the QS on my Duke 790...
I think they perform on the same level!
Great review! I find the mt09/xsr900 lacking feedback in the chassis in terms of the frame design, its a more street oriented frame and not a supersport frame like the street triple. Therefore I feel unconfident when pushing it in the corners.
Are you referring to the new MT09/XSR900 or the old one? They updated the chassis specifically to fix that.
Yea, the Street Triple definitely felt more planted than this. But indeed it might can be fixed with time for adjustment
