Just bought the Brother CS7000i. Had purchased a Singer off of Amazon and wasn’t happy with the machine at all. I’m a beginner. Haven’t used a sewing machine since Home Economics class in High School when I made a sweat shirt. Anyway, had to buy direct from Brother as Amazon was cleaned out, likely due to the surge in home-brew PPE making. Can’t say Im any different: I got one to make masks for my wife, who is a healthcare worker. Hoping to use the machine for happier things after this is all said and done. Your videos are top notch. Glad I stumbled across them. Many thanks! 👍🏽
Thanks sew much for your honesty. I felt stupid before reviewing your video tutorial. I still have to practice my buttonhole feature on my old Bernina 830 Record - Manually.
Thank you!!! I’ve had my machine forever and could never figure out which numbers go with which numbers and my needle would never line up! Thank you! Like 10000000 times THANK YOU
This is my machine, how lucky is that! I'm learning as much as I can and your video was very helpful. This was so informational for me, thank you lots. I love my Brother.
The overcast foot is absolutely amazing. I was doing zigzag edges on my singer before which ended up in bunged edges. The overcast foot on my Brother stops the fabric bunching and gives you super clean finished edges. Love it.
I have over 50 pressure. feet but only tried a few so I must be brave and try a few more.Sewing was such a mystery now it’s a fun magical mystery tour learning to sew because of these great informative sites Thank you
Haha, I'm going to school my mom now thanks to you ❤ she's got a basic brother machine (15yrs old) & simple basic kit which came with 4 feet but she's been using one all this time.
i found your channel today while trying to learn more about the feet that came with my Brother sewing machine.. your video was excellent! thank you so much, and now i am subscriber :)
I know you said to consult the manual, but your videos are so clear and helpful! The manual, with the low resolution, tiny printing on dull paper, is a pain to read, even with my brand new cataract-free eyeballs! Thank you, thank you!
I llooooovvvvveeeee this video I was looking for a video like this forever I just bought the brother cs6000i I didn't know there was a 7000 but I guess there is not much difference I'm from Guyana and would like to do some sewing then maybe create a little business I'm a nurse tutor at a nursing school so I will be sewing some aprons for the students in the future I subscribed and will be looking forward for more videos
Thank you! This is very helpful. I just got my first sewing machine cs6000i about 10 days ago. I could not get any mask from the local for weeks, so the initial main purpose is to make masks to fight this CorvID-19. I made some masks for myself, started to make it for the local community now, plan to work on quilting later. Thank you for covering tension and other settings.
Thank you so much! The accessories that came with my machine seem much more approachable. I've been sewing some "this-and-that" to help me learn. You have a very nice manner and approach to learning.
This video was so helpful, thank you so much!! I ordered this sewing machine a few days ago and I’m a total beginner (not counting a disastrous pair of babydoll pajamas made way back in 8th grade Home Ec). I’m really looking forward to following this series!
super helpful. i am novice and only tried straight and zig but after my first two projects i got to know about overlocking so I started looking at the other foot in my kit but is so intimidated to even try. this video gave me courage to try! also stitching on fabrics and later using it as a cheat sheet is excellent idea. i was just starting to write them down and draw them by hand!!! saved me the trouble!
I LOVE your channel and tutorials! SO helpful! You've walked me through the Brother PE800 which I am so happy I got, and now you are walking me through my next purchase, the CS7000i, and helping me gain confidence for both! Thank you for great content, it's much appreciated :-)
Thank you! I think there will be a video coming explaining really basic sewing terminology like what back stitching is, seam allowances, and sewing curves / corners, etc.
Thank you soooooo much for this video!!! I have had a CS6000i for a few years and I am finally going to explore more than the basics this year. Just learning what the feet are is so helpful! I am going to test them out just like you did and play with them a bit. I think this will help with my confidence.
This is an amazing tutorial and display thank you 🙌 also, if you felt that she moved too fast for you to follow, just set your playback settings slower. 🖤
I just recently found you from “the” Cricut video. I’m so glad I did! Your videos are fantastic and so clear. I have this same machine and I’ve been struggling along with the same foot for every project! 😂
Very helpful demonstration. Brother has great sewing machines. I honestly can't remember what mine is without checking, but it is a quilter with a little bigger throat space than yours, but not big enough now that I've been using it! Oh well. I can make do. I just used the buttonhole foot for the first time. Always scary for me but it was a craft project so if I made a mistake I could start over. It worked great. Thanks for the demo of the hemming foot. I've never understood how that worked. As for that zipper foot, I always find that wide back portion to be in the way when I get to the ends of the zipper. Maybe it's my technique, but it's not always easy to move the zipper pull out of the way. That's my trouble area.
Thank you for showing me some hints for my Brother presser feet. Tip: I was taught to always place a pin perpendicular to the end of the button hole when cutting it open, just in case the seam ripper slips. Did you know that the walking foot/quilters guide bar also fits into the black-lined hole in the presser foot shank so you can use the guide without the walking foot?
Deb E I heard on another video you could use the quilting guide bar without the walking foot, is this only on the CS7000i because I have the CS6000i and it does not fit. 😕
Thank you so much for this video! I just bought a Brother CP100X and the same feet come with it but the stitch numbers are different. Still, I learned which foot is which, what it does, and looked at how the stitches are arranged on the CP100X machine. Thank you SEW much ❣️ excellent video
Hey Jen! Checking in. It’s been a while since RUclips had us meetup in Buchead a few years ago. I’m about to pull the trigger and go full time as well. Glad to see your channel is growing and your video quality is really getting great!
Hi, I recently purchased a Ruffler for the CS7000i and was hoping to see a tutorial from you on how to attach it and use it. Do you have a video showing that?
Great informative video. I love all of your videos. Out of curiosity, how many machines do you have? Are there certain machines that you use for specific types of projects?
Thank you! I have 5 sewing machines, a serger, and embroidery machine. The only machine I'll use in particular is the Janome 7700 for larger quilt projects because it has the biggest throat space. For super heavy duty stuff, I'd use the Sailrite although I haven't put much time on that one.
Hi! Getting my first sewing machine next week. I’ve only ever sewn by hand and only to fix tears and whatnot. Question... What’s a throat space? The machine I opted to get was the Janome Sewist 740DC.
Your videos are so awesome. I have a question on the buttonhole why does my bobbin thread come through for the buttonhole and there's no sign of the top thread. Is that right
I'm so happy I found your channel, I had no clue what all the fonts were for , this helped me out so much . My brother machine came with a presser foot that is plastic, and it's for non-stick. I have used it, and it works fine. Just was wondering. ? I want to get a walking foot. Is it good for everyday sewing I sew tote bags and other small things. My problem is that the fabric Seems too bunch up. I have to keep on lifting lifting the foot and repositioning the material. It drives me crazy. Thank you amazing video.
Thank you for this video. I purchased a Brother CS6000i from my local CHKD Thrift Store. It only came with sewing foot J. Will the feet for the CS7000i also fit the CS6000i ?
Thanks so much for the overview!! I'd love to learn how to make plushies with minky, do you have any tips on how to use that material for a future video? I would to see a video about using different fabrics.
Good suggestion! Minky is a bit tricky to work with, especially if you are more of a beginner. You'll need to use a TON of pins, a walking foot, and be prepared for fuzz to be EVERYWHERE. I really mean it, EVERYWHERE. For those reasons, it's not my favorite fabric to sew with.
Can you do a video showing how to use the various stitches? I am trying to use #39 hand look quilting but I can find very little information on how to use it and despite changing tension I still cannot achieve the look. Help! Thank you!
Hello & thanks, Is the R foot also the one used for Foundation Paper Piecing? That is, if a straight stitch is used. It has the metal slice underneath which could ride along the edge where the paper is folded up from the fabric when joining the next piece. Thanks for any response to this.
After playing around with my presser feet, I put the J zig zag foot back on, and I know I did it correctly, but it seems much more wiggly (up and down) than when I first got the machine earlier this week. It's possible I'm just imagining that and it's always been wiggly. Does the foot wiggle up/down when in place?
Hi! I love your show and have a new Brother cs7000i too. :) I am a quilter with a problem; I cannot set the needle position to center as a default. I called Brother, and they said it was impossible since our machine has no stitch memory. But it does have needle position (up or down) default "memory." I wondered if you knew how to do this or had a workaround? Thank you!
I do reverse with my walking foot but apparently we are not supposed to. LOL There is a reverse stitch or a locking stitch. The 1st goes back & you can go forward & the second just stays in the same spot up & down to lock the stitch. My Brothers has a dot to indicate locking stitch, whereas the image for reverse is a backward line.
When I sew on a button with my machine I put a sewing machine needle in between the holes in the button so the stitches will cross over the needle and the button will not be so tight to the fabric and easier to push through the button hole.
I have SA107 walking foot Part no.423242-451 from Brother received with Brother LB6800PRW machine. . It does not have a quilt guide accessory and no hole to insert. How can I use a quilt guide accessory if I buy it separately? thanks.
Yoooo what thank you I found a weird metal thing in my sew kit and it looked like it belonged to the sew machine, I assumed it was a foot (it's the I) i didn't understand how it worked tho

My Brother sewing machine is the basic one from Walmart.. Will these presser foot work for that model?
I just bought a singer walking foot for my singer machine but it's short about 1/4". It didnt touch the bottom.
Thank you so much
Great vid crisp and clear.I am in my third year of being in love with sewing at the ripe age of 70 and I want to expand foot applications
Thank you 👍
Thanks just using the walking foot 🥰

Thank you. Very good tutorial. You speak clearly and your diction is lovely.
Oh goodness!! I had never realised what the little black spring loaded button on our J foot was for...thank you...learned something! Lindy x
I am very impressed with how you have explained these feet functions. Thank you!! Just what I needed.

Thank you for doing this video. It is absolutely 100% helpful, saves me the trouble of testing them out myself :D

Thank you so much for this! You're very articulate and relatable :)
Wow....I am amazed with this video, thank you very much for the free education. I am using empisal machine but will definitely try the stitches
Now I will try to make a button hole, thank you. 😊
Good info! I haven't used some of these either, but now I may try.

Thank you. Not as daunting is an accurate description about using the presser feet, in part because of your clear and concise video.

Great video. Thank you.
Thank you it has help me a lot !
Thank you thank you thank you for the info.
Very informative. Thank you.
thank you so so much! We have pretty much the same machine so it was perfect :)
Thank you for showing me some hints for my Brother presser feet.

Did you know that the walking foot/quilters guide bar also fits into the black-lined hole in the presser foot shank so you can use the guide without the walking foot?
Thanks and yes I am aware of the tips but good refresher for anyone who may not know.
Deb E I heard on another video you could use the quilting guide bar without the walking foot, is this only on the CS7000i because I have the CS6000i and it does not fit. 😕
Deb E Never mind, I see it’s a different accessory not included with my machine.

❤😊luv ur tutorial
Thanks!
Hi! Getting my first sewing machine next week. I’ve only ever sewn by hand and only to fix tears and whatnot. Question... What’s a throat space? The machine I opted to get was the Janome Sewist 740DC.
Throat space is how much room you have between the needle and the arm of the sewing machine.
Your videos are so awesome. I have a question on the buttonhole why does my bobbin thread come through for the buttonhole and there's no sign of the top thread. Is that right

I actually use my walking foot, or any foot that’s clear or has an open toe so I can see the line to stitch
THANK YOU!!
Thank you!
Thank you for your video. What presser feet do I use for elastic or knit fabric?
Walking foot is probably your best bet
Thank you. Do you have a gathering foot?
I'm trying to find bias foot videos on how to do squared corners please.
Do you know how to use an Singer HD Crafting. It is a walking foot that cuts and over cast. Thanks
After playing around with my presser feet, I put the J zig zag foot back on, and I know I did it correctly, but it seems much more wiggly (up and down) than when I first got the machine earlier this week. Hello I’m trying to buy 42 counts is the clear set less Quality than the metal thanks
Help- just bought your go to walking foot but I heard you say it isn’t meant to be used in reverse-so how do you lock the stitch at the end? Thanx!!
I do reverse with my walking foot but apparently we are not supposed to. LOL There is a reverse stitch or a locking stitch. The 1st goes back & you can go forward & the second just stays in the same spot up & down to lock the stitch. Is this compatible also on other brother model?
Can I use #9 stich with the zipper foot to bud up against a thin rod I'm enclosing in a flag?
I have SA107 walking foot Part no.423242-451 from Brother received with Brother LB6800PRW machine. . It does not have a quilt guide accessory and no hole to insert. How can I use a quilt guide accessory if I buy it separately? thanks.
Hi could you please bring a video on 3 needle stich thanks in advance
Do I need special feet for my brother sewing machine or can I buy whatever foot?
did you have to change the needle?
What was the adjustment to the quilting foot?
What is presser foot L used for?
Yoooo what thank you I found a weird metal thing in my sew kit and it looked like it belonged to the sew machine, I assumed it was a foot (it's the I) i didn't understand how it worked tho
Gde ih kupiti
i want to buy like this how can i get it?
Thank you so much. I was wondering what presser foot letter “a” was! And what the other presser feet did too.
