Thanks a lot for this well explanation! What's so interesting is that duration and quality of sleep is mainly influenced indirectly by how we spend our daytime. Good sleep in return has then a positive impact on how our days go. An upward spiral so to say...

Naturally , if early morning at 4 -5 am you will get up for meditation and yogic practice. You have to sleep less. No other option left within 24hrs in a day. Great salute for those who can.
@@madhurichakraborty1254 Wanting to do something and being able to do it are two different things. If we follow the above advice, slowly the sleep requirement will come down. Otherwise, one will suffer from sleep deprivation.
After many years of Meditation and Yoga practice, I have reduced my need for sleep to 3 hours per night. Usually from 1am to 4am. Upon arising, I drink a large glass of cool water. I then have walking meditation until sunrise, then begin my day. Namaste to all who yearn for Awakening during this Kali-yuga.

I normally used to sleep 8 hours a night on average. then I had a period of mostly raw, asana and meditation every morning and only needed 5 hours of sleep and felt amazing. also doing some intermittent fasting had a similar effect. great advice, I didn't even think about the sangha aspect :)
Thank you! I have found this to be the case for me as well. I practice TM at least twice a day, and end up needing much less sleep a night. This gives me so much more time for creative and spiritual work, especially at night.

Ive been vegetarian for 2 years, and I eat VERY low amounts of sugar & dairy and avoid processed foods I don’t Meditate that much but shouldn’t my diet alone explain why I don’t need that much sleep. After a while I stopped fighting my difficulty sleeping, and stopped identifying myself with having insomnia. I was also writing this comment while watching and he said difficulty white I wrote it 😬 gotta love those synchronicities.
Mr. Johnson try eating more living creatures in your diet. The anguish and fear they go through in becoming food will give you the necessary energy and motivation for good meditation practice.
The reducing of sleeping-time is my actual problem, so I will try to adjust my morning waking-time with yoga tradition (brahma muhurta etc). This video was very helpful, thank a lot!

Thank you for this clear description. I practice meditation and yoga since 5 years, but the ego and instincts are very persistent! I would be happy to feel energized with 6-7 hrs already (instead the 8 to 9 I need now to feel fresh)
Thanks for mentioning these topics. I knew them, but after hearing them again in this lecture it became much more clear. I don't think I can reduce sleep at this point, but it would be a very time-saving thing, which I would like to reach at some point in life.

How many hours do you sleep every day? If it is 2 hours at once and not separated during the day then I think it's hard to be not sleepy during the day
First of all I would like to bow to your lotus feet. We are extremely fortunate to have the highly spiritual yogees like you. Your most valuable advice will surely help us to progress our spiritual journey. Lastly if you don't mind then may I request you to let me know your name and the place please. Thanks and Warm Regards
Thanks for sharing such amazing knowledge. It is going to be a great help to me I think. I sleep for 12 hours a day and have got tired of such worst habit. I want to get rid of it very badly. I am not able do my work and studies properly due to this. Hope this video will help me. Thanks once again!!!
I have to say I find eating less food to be the most important relative to less sleep. Light veg meal at 7pm and my sleep is wonderful, light, and blissful.
Surely sleep is better than meditation. Sleep is totally natural and Gods way of refreshing and healing mind and body. If I wake up at 5am to meditate i just fall asleep anyway. Best advice is "bed by 11 up at 7". That said I know people who sleep only 4 to 6 hours and have lots of energy. They don't meditate or do yoga they just conditioned their body due to neccesity. I will try your routine now for 90 days with an open mind.
The purpose of sleep is to give rest to the body for recovery. By mediation, your body goes into deep restful state and after that it doesn't need that much sleep to recover fully.
There is nothing worse than having to fight through the day due to lack of sleep and not being able to function properly. Also do I really want to get that droopy eyed look and big bags under my eyes from lack of sleep? No! I think that the people who advocate this kind of practice have left the real world, they live in communes, dont have normal jobs or normal responsibilities. Science says we need 7 to 8 hours sleep a night and my own experience confirms this. I wish it were not true.

Takeaways for sleeping less & meditating more:
1. Stay light (eat raw)
2. Yog asana (exercise)
3. Meditation
4. Fasting
5. Avoid heavy foods
6. Satsang (good company)
7. Let go of worries & fears by surrender (kirtan, offer thoughts & feelings to universal consciousness)
8. Vigorous exercise (tandav)
Positive outlook towards life, abundance mentality, openness & friendliness towards others & embrace lifes problems.
