i kind of love how in the modern age the "Definitive" rendition of Fly Me To The Moon is the performance for NGE
Imo, it's always been Frank Sinatra's version for me as he influenced me a lot and is one of my musical influences - but the visuals for the NGE version are just too perfect to not use!
Fly Me to the Moon is a 1950's song (1954) that was covered by Frank Sinatra in the 1960s (1964). That was the definitive version for most everyone---until 1995, 30 years later, and almost 30 years ago. There's something so very neat about that. Now, if you're older, the definitive version is Sinatra's, but if you're younger, and most especially if you're an anime fan, chances are the definitive version is the NGE one. It's a very neat dividing line, and like you, I really love that.
Also, fun fact, since Frank Sinatra died in 1998, it's technically possible he heard the Evangelion version at some point towards the very end of his life.

A few months ago they sent me a bunch of city pop, and over time I discovered more and more until I came across your channel and shared it with them. Just wanted to let you know that not only do I love your music, but it blew my friends and family away that there's such a love for city pop in the west that we have artists like yourself doing such amazing covers and remakes.

In my humble opinion, nobody can replicate ol' blue-eyes Sinatra himself, but this is so damn good. so smooth and happy at the same time. absolutely love it.

This is my new favorite cover of fly me to the moon. Your singing is melodic and really stands out from the rest of the song, the instrumental are also great particularly the horn solo in the middle of the song.
I have to say the same. I've been listening to the song in all sorts of different versions, but this cover just feels so *perfectly right* to me. Melodic, entrancing, with just the right amount of *pop* to it. I immediately downloaded it to my phone, and I've started leaving it on loop while I read fanfic of a romantic nature. This means I now associate the song with certain ships and even certain feelings I get while reading a really good story.
