It's still my headcanon that the story of the song sees a Japanese woman falling in love with an English speaking man who came across the sea for a business trip, they had a passionate romance, and he had to move back and she can't move on, or worse, _he died_ *and she is stuck in a downward spiral of denial and depression clinging to her memories, his old jacket, their favorite song, and the condemned, abandoned house he lived in. **_All the while she's stuck repeating the few words of English she picked up from their time in her head. Stay with me. Stay with me. Stay with me. But it never works. The mad mantra of desperate denial rings hollow on the ears of the reaper, for the man is gone forever. She never got to say goodbye when the plane crashed._*

One of the best city pops I have listened to. I cry a lot whenever I hear this because it is about longing and the truth that there is no turning back in time and that it's impossible to relive the same love and romance. On the other hand, Miki's voice is powerful, and the depth of her emotions put into the song is simply superb. If she lived, she is now in her 60s. Hey incognito
Soap trusted you, I thought I could too, why is my search history knows my family too!
This doesn't even sound like a cover of a song it sounds like you originally made it and that's a compliment and a half
Even 3 years later this is so good 💙. Glad you're still translating lyrics, keep it up! 💙
She never got to say goodbye when the plane crashed._*
i think this is my favourite comment in this entire comment section. thank you for the imagery, i will think about this for months to come
Gorgeous story I really love when people give their interpretations it always gives me a fresh look on the song altogether!!
Your story reminds me of Madama Butterfly
I can't even express how sad I was when i found out that Miki Matsubara passed away.
Her music and voice is so calming and beautiful, it makes me so happy.
Anyone can sing this and it will sound amazing. ANYONE!
I don't know which I'm more consistently impressed by: the incredible covers or the art renditions in the background. They're both fantastic in every one of these videos
This song is 100% sadder in English she must have been really heart broken when she made this
Written By 三浦徳子 (Miura Noriko) & 林哲司 (Hayashi Tetsuji)
Jpop singers rarely write their own music.
@@EmergencyChannel oh
@@ChickenShoes I mean hey, the song writers could of still been channeling some heart break lol
@@lizzy532 Damn, song writers do have to go through some experiences to make a song that has a "feel".
Yeah Caitlin's version is way more depressive than Miki Matsubara's. Top tier poetry
loving the line "in the dead of night I'm banging on your door"... the notes you hit on "door" sound amazing
Your translation (or more like writing) of the lyrics is SPOT ON. It's flawless, like, I genuinely thought there was an original English version released by Miki Matsubara that I don't know. And I am stunned to listen to your beautiful singing voice. Goosebumps all the way till the end. Thank you for the marvelous content! Love from Japan
この歌詞を韻を踏んでスムーズに英語化出来てるの凄い
I agree with u it kind of sounds like her!
I had this playing on a loop, and the way that the VHS rewind at the end blends into the play at the beginning is a nice touch, these really are "Bittersweet melodies, on an endless repeat, it seems"
The up beat melancholy keeps a smile on your face even as you start to weep.
If your cover of Plastic Love helped to define 2020 for me, this'll end up defining 2021 for me. I adore this one. thank you, Caitlin~
OK, all I need now is a Bay City English version and my life would be complete ;D
Bay City is another good one.
Yes @Caitlin Myers if you can, please!!! I'm begging you.
Thank you so much for making this cover in English and still remaining so faithful to the original. This is going on my daily playlist.
I refrained myself from listening to covers cuz I didn't want the og song ruined, but this cover is so amazing!
They surely didn't skimp the budget for this anime dub.
Lmao
It's you again !!!😲
@@daoistsaintmasterofthenasc6220 LOL
bro u literally copied Justin Y's comment from the plastic love english version
If only they still dubbed anime openings.
Caitlin is not only the absolute greatest singer i’ve ever heard from! But I actually wanna learn from her, i am practicing for hitting higher notes ever since i was a kid but oh my lord Caitlin takes the entire cake factory with this masterpiece
She has an amazing voice!
the city pop queen, you're the only person I serve now.
Break up: Stay With Me
Get Over: Plastic Love
Me: ✨Jamin' in the best and worse times of my life✨
Back again: I'm in Love 💛
More like,
Getting over it (Bad ending): Plastic Love
Getting over it (Good ending): Last Summer Whisper
this song did not touch my heart
IT FULL OUT GRABED IT
RIP MIKI MATSUBARA ♡
I have listened to you since I was a kid. Your music lives on forever ♡
If she's there again she must be beautiful 😢
オリジナルの魅力を活かしながら英語で歌うあなたの歌唱力とその声に感動しました。
I was impressed by your singing ability and voice while singing in English while making the most of the original charm.
Agreed most impressive out of all the ones I've reviewed truly she is the best so far.
Happy that you have a new direction in your life, looking forward to it! :)
I just realized she was the one who made that English Version of Plastic Love :O and its so freaking good omg!
Once again, you voice is fantastic. I LOVE the added aesthetics - subtle little animations and the perfect loop with the VHS rewinding (with the proper runtime in the bottom right!). I know it's been 2 years since your last City Pop cover, but I hope you do more!! The wait was well worth it. Thank you for blessing us again :)
I have to credit Marine for introducing me to this incredible song! Caitlin, you did such a great job with this English version !
I can't live a day without listening to this, this cover is just God tier
Not going to lie, the line "I'm holding onto moments that won't last" really got me tearing up :')
Same :')
The vocal work here is just PERFECT for this take. I love when artists truly own their covers and make it some special.
I 👏🏼 HAVE👏🏼 BEEN 👏🏼 WAITING 👏🏼 FOR 👏🏼 SO 👏🏼 LONG 👏🏼 FOR 👏🏼 A 👏🏼 GOOD 👏🏼 ENGLISH 👏🏼 COVER 👏🏼 THANK YOU.
You're not crying.
I AM!!
Found this channel a few days ago. I'm so glad I did, because her voice is amazingly beautiful.
I was one of the people who commented on the Plastic Love video asking you to cover this amazing song. Thank you very much for this equally amazing cover. You did a fantastic job~

@@caitlinmyers We keep in touch from time to time to discuss theory's and stuff about agriculture just to talk. Overall since last year I never knew what city pop was till I stayed for a while and we got on the topic of japanese culture and different ways music can effect the mind like nostalgia. City pop has a nostalgia like feeling when you never actually heard it before... For the first time. He played your beautiful version of plastic love to our class. Then I asked him what's hes been listening to and it was this video of the link he sent me. So I see Caitlin Myers... And I was like no way.. Its the girl who did plastic love and the Chika theme song from love is war anime. So I was like "this is gonna be good" and now I am here.
But we need to embrace the sad reality that everyone has their own time to embrace the grave. Rest in power, Miki! Thanks for the music that I have recently discovered. ❤
Here queen, you dropped this 👉👑
What I wouldn't give for a woman to look at me like that and say those words.
Damn ong made me cry a little with this comment 😭
😭
Man this would be like a dream
gotta work on yourself and improve yourself as a person overall, higher chances of it happening
To you
Yes my love, to you
Yes my love, to you
You, to you
“I’m who I am, as I am; you’re who you are, as who you are”
The final words you whispered, before you left me with a scar
On your familiar silver jacket
Splattered coffee’s left a stain, destined always to remain
And still we’re lost inside the habit
Tears reflecting in the pane, show our pitiful refrain
STAY WITH ME...
In the dead of night I’m banging on your door
I’m begging you, without you I’m done for
Now the winter arrived, like the tears in our eyes,
STAY WITH ME…
While your voice remains an echo of the past
I'm holding on to moments that won’t last
I will never forget, I will never regret our love
“Confusing love and lovin’, there is a difference though bizarre”
The final words you whispered, before you left me with a scar
Another winter is arriving
Like a bird you went away, migrate back to me and stay
But still I’m lost inside the habit
Here I’m yearning for your touch, will it ever matter much
STAY WITH ME...
In the dead of night I’m banging on your door
This heart of mine is breaking once more
Now the winter arrived, like the tears in my eyes,
STAY WITH ME...
For your company my pride I gave away
The needle on my record as it plays
Bittersweet melodies, on an endless repeat, it seems
STAY WITH ME...
In the dead of night I’m banging on your door
I’m begging you, without you I’m done for
Now the winter arrived, like the tears in our eyes,
STAY WITH ME...
While your voice remains an echo of the past
I'm holding on to moments that won’t last
I will never forget, I will never regret-
STAY WITH ME...
In the dead of night I’m banging on your door
I’m begging you, without you I’m done for
Now the winter arrived, like the tears in our eyes,
STAY WITH ME...
While your voice remains an echo of the past
I'm holding on to moments that won’t last
I will never forget, I will never regret-
STAY WITH ME...
In the dead of night I’m banging on your door
I’m begging you, without you I’m done for
Now the winter arrived, like the tears in our eyes,
STAY WITH ME...

IAM FREKKING CRYING WITH I AM SINGGING
Even before this comes out me and everyone else knows this will be a masterpiece, great job 👍
*”City Pop... you’re as beautiful as the day I lost you...”*
Nice httyd reference
4:22 that part sounds amazing!
You may not the most frequent with uploads, but when you do upload, jesus christ they are BANGERS. The effort you put in is insane (as usual), which you clearly can tell from both the beautiful visuals as well as your beautiful voice. And to see "Do You Remember Love?" cover coming up so closely after this one, is really cool to see. Good job, and see you at the premiere!
Sometimes or a lot of times
it’s *REALLY* hard to translate a song and keep the mood
But the way you sang this cover was *perfect* the mood and vocals were perfect and sounds
*Amazing*
It’s one of the few cover artists I’d regularly listen to for an English translation
It's interesting to me that you still read comments.
It shows how much love and care you have for your fans and your work. You have such a big heart. I hope that big heart leads you to all the things you want in life ❤
The translation, typography, illustration, and still the melody and lyrics, just how everything's so perfect?
Yes! I was hoping you would cover this song, can’t wait till premiere.
Can't believe i've been a fan of her for years now... didn't realize.
OMGGGG i've only heard the japanese version until now so the lyrics really hit me hard when i heard them in english for the first time, especially with you beautiful voice Caitlin, it hits different now that i fully understand what queen Miki was singing about. Keep up the good work and always look up no matter what people might say! I'm happy to be able to listen to this. *insert big heart emoji here*
Uwaaa! i'm happy you saw this comment, and not necessarily for the attention, it's the fact that i know my words reached you and that i hopefully brightened you or someone's day by writing this so again, faitoooooooo
You really managed to honour the original singers with those fantastic covers. I even saw some Japanese folks in the comments jamming along, which to me seems like a great success. :)
I generally dislike translations of Japanese songs into English but your versions are just fantastic. Well done!!
Rest in peace.
Miki Matsubara (singer, 1959 - 2004)
Yoshiko Miura (lyricist, 1949 - 2023)
Not only is your voice beautiful but the way the translated lyrics manage to flow so well with the song and that banger chorus is just pure art! Thank you for this god-tier cover!! 🤧❤
Never could have thought that this song can be turned into English, and actually making it sound amazing! Thank you :)
idk if you will ever continue your activities here
but i really love a lot of your covers.
found them while looking up for covers back some months.
thenks~
all the best on your future endeavors!!
Caitlin's voice is perfect for citypop, honestly. She sounds so sweet, the translation is great, and it just sounds amazing.
