Becky you seriously amaze me with how much you are able to get done while pregnant! I almost passed out pushing the cart around the grocery store and here you are running a small scale farm lol. You are a Wonder Woman!
Lol for real! I was throwing up 24/7 for 8 months. I think that’s a big reason why I stopped at 1, there’s no way I could actively take care of my current child while I grew another lol I was useless almost my entire pregnancy. I love seeing her relax though. I work from home but when my son was in middle school we lived too close for the bus route so he was a walker. Sure he could walk, but I enjoyed planning my breaks around his dismissal bc it gave me a reason to step away from my desk. I always brought a book and arrived a little early so I could park in line, unroll my windows to get some nice fresh air, and I could enjoy my book uninterrupted for a good 15-20 min. I loved waiting in the pickup line, it was like my little oasis haha I think it’s important to take those little breaks for yourself anytime you can. Not everyone can afford trips to the spa or meditation retreats, but self care isn’t all of that. My 15 min reading in my car was my retreat. And I’d even say mine was better bc I did it often, I made sure to give myself that break every day Monday thru Friday, these people spending thousands at the spa or retreats once a month or year aren’t getting that peace everyday. Heck, sometimes it’s just an extra 5 min in the shower away from everyone else. As long as we are aware we need that time to unwind and just be, we don’t need to be productive every min of every day. I’m excited to see Becky as a mom. I love how productive she is, but she’s also realistic and not a lot of youtubers are both. I love that she reminds viewers we only see a small glimpse of her day, she isn’t going to film the days she’s laying in bed bc that’s boring to watch, but she does it just like everyone else haha. I hope the baby gives her more reasons to slow down and just cuddle, relax, enjoy those memories of just sitting and reading with baby. I’m sure there will be plenty of times she’ll wear the baby and get her chores done bc the chores don’t go away, I’m just excited to see her new balance. A new side to such an amazing family. I’m so excited for their journey to continue.
We have chickens, too! I researched a ton before we ended up buying an Amish built coop. There's three things, that after 6 years of having chickens, that I value everyday!! One is the feeder like you have, our holds a 50 lb bag of food..yay! Second is the vinyl on the wood floor. Makes cleaning the coop super easy! Third, is a poop hammock! All it is, is a tarp that to hook underneath the roosting bar..at night it catches all the dropping! It's a life changer! I have two tarps..one that I take out..dump the droppings and then I put in the second one..and throw the dirty one over our fence, spray off to clean, and leave to dry in the sun! Trust me..this has saved me a ton of work!! Hope it helps you!
Never heard of the poop hammock. Can see it being a great time saver. Less often having to clean entire coop since they do most of their mess at night. Much easier to clean. Having 2 hammocks to switch out, awesome idea.
OMGOODNESS!! these tips that you’re sharing have me speechless!! (I don’t even have chickens and I LOVE these tips lol) 1. The vinyl on the wood floor is genius! I would have never thought of that!! 2. The poop hammock is a million dollar idea!! You need to make a prototype of them and patent that!! I am so serious!! It’s like sheets for our bed take one set off to wash and put another set on. But the “poop hammock” is the perfect name for it and I can see a commercial on tv (or on Amazon) selling them. I’m still just amazed by these idea’s!! Maybe the vinyl floor could go together with the hammock as a set. 😮 Please go see a lawyer about this!! 😮😊
I'm a crazy chicken lady married to an engineer. I LOVED that Josh wanted to make sure the coop was square with the house. No ramshackle placement on his watch! ❤️ So glad you have the ladies home.
Hey Becky, you should leave the fence open to the run at your old house with some water or food and a temp nest box (like a crate turned sideways with some hay or something) to see if the other chicken comes back (you can check when you harvest the garden).

Oh my gosh! Watching you herd those chickens was hysterical!! I love that you “take us along” (as you say) and allow us to be a part of your world. We also appreciate that you share when things don’t go exactly as planned; that’s just life!
I would suggest adding a piece of gutter onto the back of the coop, otherwise you won't be protected from the rain very well! Love that your chickens are in the new home now!
Consider making a combination Greenhouse/Chicken Coop... set it up so that the chickens can overwinter inside the greenhouse, which they can clean and fertilize any raised beds you might have inside during that time, and then, during the growing seasons, you'll have a section set aside for them to roost at night.
I was just thinking about this! We will be getting a high tunnel, and I thought, why not put chickens in there in a coop to help through the NY winters!
I'm so happy that the chickens have landed on the property! Josh makes things look easy but I know he works hard to make things easier & more efficient for y'all. You may want to install a game camera or two near the chickens so you can see if they've attracted any predators in the upcoming months. Hoping your string beans have enough time to mature.
I seen the 🐝 on your camera and I thanked the Lord for it because around here they are very few and everytime I see one in my garden I thank the Lord for it 🙏
Hi Becky, when we built our coop, my husband painted the floor of the coop with water base paint. It has been very easy to clean . It might be an option instead of plastic or vinyl flooring. It is so great and just feels right to see chickens on your new homestead. Whoever buys your original homestead will be getting a real gift because of all the work you two have done to the garden, chicken run area and the home. It will be a real blessing to another family. I’m always excited to watch your videos.
just a thought - since the girls are so obviously loved, you should probably get 3 more kennels. They break down to almost no space, and you should have enough to get the girls and both dogs into kennels if you ever had to evacuate a bad weather situation. I know both dogs will fit into 1, but for evacuation it may be longer in the kennel so they should each have their own. Just a thought . . . it's how we bought our latest car :) If you have the store Fleet Farm, we got ours there. Less expensive but better quality than anywhere else - and yes, I'm sure as we used them to bring our pets with us when we moved across the pond :) Enjoy your videos. Hope you get through the canning soon so that you can relax a wee bit. Best of luck.
Carolina Coops are my favorite design of chicken coop out there today! Everything is set up for efficiency, and I am sure you & Josh could make one for your new homestead! Plus the deep litter method means cleaning out only once a year. I would absolutely go this route and make it adorable!
It is always a warm and cosy feeling, a real joy, to see someone care for their animals with genuine warmth and love. I see too many films about animals being abused and abandoned. It's clear that you love your animals Becky, as it should be. It's great to see them cared for and happy.
This is whole evolution of your new hometead we are going to witness. And the arrival of your baby in just a few months! I'm excitedly watching and happy for you Becky! Truly love watching all of your videos. 💞
If you’re gonna be building a stationary coop, you might wanna look into the “deep bedding” method (I thing that’s what it was called). Basically, you put a pretty thick layer of wood shavings on the floor - the chickens dig in it and the dropping’s get mixed in - you only have to clean it 1 or 2 times a year and you have the contents ready to use as compost!
Hi Becky, I just want to say that I LOOOOVE your videos, your content, your adorable personality and your beautiful creations! Such great passion behind everything you do - SO inspiring! Love from Denmark 🤩
Awww Becky...I could feel your emotions after getting your chicky girls home with you. I can't imagine the stress of having to explain your decisions on everything you do...when none of us viewers have a clue about all of the behind the scenes/real life issues you really face. I'm happy for you that the move is getting finalized.💕
I would take all those Tposts and cattle panels/wire fence from the chicken coop and garden trellises to the new house! Lots of money saved!! On the chicken flooring, we bought a cheap piece of vinyl flooring. It has made the deep bedding cleaning much much easier!!
Watching Josh herd your chickens had me laughing! I have so much respect for how intelligent and creative he is. Using a chicken to herd another chicken was just hysterical. I come back to your channel over and over because y'all are just so genuine and real and you just make my heart happy. I do hope you find your missing girl, she deserves to be home with her family! Much love!
Great idea to use a washable floor for the coop. My house foundation moves too much for tile so I chose a commercial grade linoleum. It's thicker than residential linoleum. I couldn't be happier with it. It's about 15 years old and looks like new. People think it's tile. Another thing about it is that it doesn't have to be glued down! I didn't believe it but it's true. Love that you got your girls home, thanks for showing us all of the things
Love how you show your appreciation for what “your girls” give of themselves to you. And, how you speak so lovingly to them. May much PEACE and many BLESSINGS be upon you and your family. ❤️❤️❤️
I loved my chickens…so peaceful to watch..☺️.. When we built our coop, we purchased an outdoor shed from Lowes and then modified it by adding windows and splitting a third of the coop for entry and storage. The rest was nesting boxes and an in and out door for the girls and our rooster, when we had one. We added an auto open/ close door for the chickens. It was light sensitive and would open at dawn and close at dusk. We also plumbed the coop with water and electricity. We painted the flooring with an exterior primer from Sherwin Williams. It made a HUGE difference in protecting the floor from their bodily functions. The primer sealed the wood floor and we had zero problems with rot. We also sprayed the interior with exterior paint. It smoothed down the wood surface and made cleaning the coop a breeze. It’s a step well worth taking.
I’m so glad you decided to put them in the passenger seat with you because they were pretty stressed out but I did giggle just a little bit when you started putting one in and another one with right now, so great job Becky so proud of the move.
Becky I know you have tons going on, but I wanted to tell you something. The other day I heard about jalapeno salt. You freeze dry your jalapenos crush them and add salt to it. As soon as I heard that I thought about you because you always say how you like heat. I hope you think that's a good idea and make some. And I'm so happy that you found your dream home in property. Yay Becky and Josh. Good luck.
Thank you, Becky and Josh, for taking us along with you on this step of your new adventure. And to Becky's sister and BIL (and nieces) for helping to get the chickens home. That was a great idea placing the collection part of the coop under the deck! Enjoy your meal out. Y'all deserve it!
Attention, Becky, TIM from Canada when you were trying to put anything into a dog cage, that is small like that tip it up on its tail with the door straight up in the air this way you can open up the door and put in whatever you have and then close the door after you
Becky, we used half inch galvanized fencing for the raised floor (about waist high). For the floor to make easy to reach under with rake, we used horse stall mats. Linoleum doesn't hold up well with moisture (peels up) and contains so many toxic glues and chemicals. Just food for thought. Sure enjoy you young couples journey ☺️
@@JG-ph3xg is it one big piece?? If there's seams or the square vinyl...I'd say that's the reason..maybe the way it was installed, too...we just bought a cheap HD roll, too. So nothing expensive at all... Sorry, it's not working out for you!

AND THEN preparing so many meals to freeze to have ready to thaw, heat then eat. You have the cutest personality and you keep me smiling AND laughing. There's strength in unity! And I'm excited about all the plans you have instore for us to be a part of! Can't wait! It's like taking us on an adventure! See you on your next video!🐔🐓❤
You and Josh are doing a great job. Love your new home. It will be fun, watching you two put your ideas, talents into this beautiful home. Take care of yourselves. Welcome home pretty Chickens. Thank GOD for sweet Sister and Brother in law♥Family♥
Becky, for the floor of your next chicken coop: watch A Stable Life to see the rubber mats they use on the floors of the stables. You could put some of those big rubber mats down then cover it with straw or wood shaving/sawdust for ease of cleaning like they do when cleaning out the stables of horse manure and straw.
Welcome home girls!! Your love for all that grows warms my heart but I really love how you love your girls! You and Josh are a great team, but more importantly, great people. Thank you for taking me on your journey and sharing all your wonderful adventures! The best is yet to be. Hugs and blessings.

Hi Becky, Josh and family. This was so much fun to watch. I love it that these chickens are pets. That's what I love about your homestead. Everything becomes part of the family. It's also exciting to see how you two are gonna build this whole new garden. Thanks for sharing the fun. Bye my friends 👋🏻🇳🇱❤️ P.S. That bee got his 2 seconds of fame 🤣
So my Dad has a saying that I have heard my whole life and now I automatically say it as well....When someone says "What's up?" you reply "A chickens butt when they eat!" !!! Now of course I get lots of ..."What do you mean?" and I say "When a chicken eats what happens....his head goes down and his butt goes up!!! I grew up with chickens on my Grandpap's farm and they were definitely pets and adorably hilarious sometimes!! Found your channel about 3 months ago and love you videos!!! Congrats on the lil one and God Bless you , baby and Josh!
Hi! My chickens have vinyl sheet flooring in their hen house. This is great! We bought cheap but thick vinyl. I recommend that you buy a bit larger than the floor and fold it over the walls. It makes cleaning easier. Hugs! ❤
Hi Becky, I loved our plastic tough shed for our coop- forgot the brand. We had 12 chickens & two ducks in there at night. They free ranged during the day. Put in nesting boxes from Amazon. Built a wooden ladder for them to roost on and leaned it against the back wall. My husband added more vents-easy peasy house AC vents. I hosed it out when needed and didn't smell 😁 Oh ya, $399!! Cheap
Would you be able to bring us along with the planning of the garden, green house and coup? It's daunting to me to hire and make big changes like that, seeing you do it would be so informational!
Josh is such a good hubby! He’s making your egg collecting easier for you. The watering, etc. I know you are both thinking ahead to 3 months down the road when baby comes and you need easy access to your first 9 babies. Lol. I can’t believe baby is coming so soon. Thanks for sharing.
I noticed when you moved the coop under the deck that the upper roof wasn't entirely under. I wonder if it would be a good idea to add a gutter for now to redirect the water. LOVE your channel!!!
Yeah I was like that whole area is going to get muddy if anything. Thought it would make an interesting video in the future having Becky in mud and a waterfall getting to the eggs 😅
I think you are correct in your assumption that your rogue hen flew out off the coop and could not get back in. Where we live in Northern California, we have to have chicken wire over the top of the run because of all the predators. Leave the door pen with food and water. You will have to come down in the late evening to get her if she decides to roost back in the coop. Good luck, honey.
Becky, so happy for you. I can see the relief on your face. Hope you have some sensor lights around decking to ward off any fuzzy critters at night. Lot of well worth effort paid off. Take care
Our coop is a converted dog run. The front two panels are wood and the roof is tin. We converted a shelving unit by cutting holes in the shelves and putting buckets in for their nest box. The floor is dirt so it's super easy to maintain. Nest box buckets come out so they can be easily dumped. Food buckets hang from the roof. Wooden "ladder" roost bars.
Just a Glorious Day for you all! Welcome Home Ladies! Huge thank you to your sister and brother in-law for all their wonderful help moving the chicken coop! His trailer worked awesome! Josh you remind me of the science guy, you can always come up with something useful!
Hi Becky, ur energy is incredible even with child. You can see how proud Josh is of house and all. He is really representing no letting you carry and get stress. His initiative is ample and pride just flows. It is very nice to see. I can not wait to see the little one chasing chickens. Be well, rest and let awesome Josh represent - while u nurse the little one to term.
Every time I see that notification of another Becky Upload my day instantly gets brighter. Thank you Becky for brining so much light into this beautiful Friday
When we moved into our house, we got a new deadbolt that has a key pad on it. Since then, we have never gotten locked out of our house and even my kids can get into the house without needing to carry a key. It's worked well for the last 10 years and I highly recommend them!
Before you move, please, transplant some of your plants, herbs, strawberries, blueberry bush, and anything else that will transplant well. Give yourself that gift even if they are just in pots. Having them from your old house to the new house will bring continuity and fond memories. Everything is looking good.
I have been watching you about a year now. This my first time making a comment. You have encouraged me some much in this journey food preservation and gardening. I had to say thank you. IM EXCITED for you and your family.
I used to have bunnies… my dad and I built a house for them and tiled the floor with leftover tiles from the bathroom. Easy to clean and survived the frost very well…
I'm the same way, Becky...I'm lost without the "girls". :D My husband built our coop and put linoleum on the floors. It was the best thing we did as it makes cleanup really easy and protects the floor from rotting. The only thing he would change would be to put a few inches of linoleum up the back wall under the nest boxes and somehow poop gets flung here. We also have our nest boxes at the back but I like them there. I don't find any extra dirt on the eggs as they walk through the clean straw of the coop floor to get there. Having the nest boxes on the back also allowed him to put doors on both sides that open fully to make cleaning a breeze. Glad you have your girls with you again!
This was so much fun getting the girls to go with you to go home. 🐓Your just the sweetest little pregnant woman.ever. Seeing how concerned you and Josh are about things you will be the best parents. Can’t wait! I just love you all and I pray the very very best to you both. If I could I’d watch the girls and throw them a few of your tomatoes. Enjoy your dinner. Josh! Your the sweetest!❤
We built a deep litter coop last year and it worked out great. We used scrap linoleum flooring as a base. One thing I would recommend for the new coop is a cupola! We had no smell in the coop whatsoever and it's healthier for the chickens : )
Hi from England Becky! Just wanted to say I love your videos and they help me to relax so much as I’m having a stressful time at the moment. I hope to be more like you some day. Love and appreciate the effort you put into your content for us 😊.
My husband keeps threatening to harvest the hens who aren't laying, but I refuse cause I love them all. We did have two new baby chicks hatch today, our first time incubating them and out of 8 eggs, 6 are viable and two hatched. So exciting!
You can put the coop up to the fence and cut a hole where the chickens go in and out. This way they can enjoy the fenced area and their coop.
What a great idea! There are so many trees around the new property, so foxes or other predators may also be an issue during the day.
Great idea!
Yea free range is dangerous with dogs n foxes n stuff. I would keep em within a fenced area for their safety
With a lockable pet door so they can be contained in their coop for extra safety when needed
Sort of like Living Traditions homestead setup?
The way you appreciate Josh is everything and you let him know too

Consider making a combination Greenhouse/Chicken Coop... set it up so that the chickens can overwinter inside the greenhouse, which they can clean and fertilize any raised beds you might have inside during that time, and then, during the growing seasons, you'll have a section set aside for them to roost at night.
I was just thinking about this! We will be getting a high tunnel, and I thought, why not put chickens in there in a coop to help through the NY winters!
What a great idea!
We are in PA and we winter our girls in our high tunnels and they love it!
Yt channels gold shaw farm and Justin Rhodes have started doing that. Makes winter chores much more comfortable and easier to maintain.
Use your tractor bucket, tie the coop and raise it over the fence.
How cute was the bee on the camera!!! Still enjoying your videos. Keep up the good work Becky! You are an inspiration to us Homesteaders
As busy as a BEe just like BEcky!!! 💗💗💗
Happy chicks makes happy mama!! Rest with your feet up before you plan to ! you guys are going to be GREAT parents!!
It made my heart happy to see your joy at having the chickens home with you! 🐓
Awww…you two and the “girls”….Josh with Bo Peep and her sister….I just love watching you guys! ☺️❤️
Listening to chickens is so comforting.
It might be a good idea to install remote entry keypads on doors so you don't NEED keys as long as you remember the combination!😍😍
This is what we do!!!
You have such a beautiful heart as is evidenced by your treatment of your chickens 🥰
Awhhh Becky your such a sweetheart 💕 caring for your chickens.
Great move of the chickens. They are pretty calm chickens, which shows how much you interact with them.
None of us can possibly come up with chicken run ideas that will top Josh's work. He is so creative and amazing. You are a great couple.
I love how calm the chickens stayed around you when you put them into the dog crate! That's real trust right there.
I 100% agree about the chickens. I would never be without them. They bring so much joy and food security.
I loved the joy on your face when your chickens came home. 🥰
I love that you put the chickens inside on the passengers side! ❤❤❤
Good luck.
Can you do this with dehydration as well?
Love their chicken noises! Its actually soothing to me..
Thank you, Becky and Josh, for taking us along with you on this step of your new adventure. And to Becky's sister and BIL (and nieces) for helping to get the chickens home. That was a great idea placing the collection part of the coop under the deck! Enjoy your meal out. Y'all deserve it!
Attention, Becky, TIM from Canada when you were trying to put anything into a dog cage, that is small like that tip it up on its tail with the door straight up in the air this way you can open up the door and put in whatever you have and then close the door after you
I laughed so hard when you were putting the chickens in the crate alone! Oh gosh, I needed that. :-) Great job, crew!
Also, yes to the vinyl flooring, works great! I would also suggest a full size coop you can walk in. So much easier to clean!
We've never had an issue w vinyl..it's been many years and is still as good as the day we installed it...
@@suemcleod4134 your lucky. Ours has peeled up twice in 5 yrs.
@@JG-ph3xg is it one big piece?? If there's seams or the square vinyl...I'd say that's the reason..maybe the way it was installed, too...we just bought a cheap HD roll, too. So nothing expensive at all...
Sorry, it's not working out for you!
OH Becky, those chickens LOVE you. Shows how good you are to them that they trust you so much.
I literally teared up when I saw the chicks on the new homestead. I have chicks and completely understand your excitement. These are not even mine and I have peace of mind knowing they are home.
So excited for you!
So happy you are all together at home again.
Josh is brilliant! He has an engineering mindset. Looks great.
Seeing you interact with your nieces gives me all the feels for your baby on the way ❤😊
I'm happy you're getting the chickens. They seemed like they were missing you the last time we saw them.
Hey Becky - just wanted to say that I absolutely love your content You are an authentic breath of fresh sir and it is so awesome to see how excited you are about your new home and getting your girls settled in.
Becky…I’m a fairly new Becky and Josh watcher and love it!!! I’ve been binging on your shows. You amaze me with your knowledge on planting, growing and harvesting your garden. AND THEN preparing so many meals to freeze to have ready to thaw, heat then eat. You have the cutest personality and you keep me smiling AND laughing. All of the energy you have is amazing (Josh too!). I also think your chickens are cute. I enjoyed watching you all move your “girls” home. Thanks for your videos.
I AM SO, SO ECSTATIC TO SEE THE GIRLS ARE BACK WITH YOU! I felt your heart when you brought them home. They are family and a joy. My hat's off to 'your' family. You guys are awesome! So much love, support an unity among you all. I also love the way you and Josh work together, take care of each other and how grateful you are. You have such a beautiful spirit. There's strength in unity! And I'm excited about all the plans you have instore for us to be a part of! Can't wait! It's like taking us on an adventure! See you on your next video!🐔🐓❤
You and Josh are doing a great job.
Love your new home.
It will be fun, watching you two put your ideas,
talents into this beautiful home.
I second your comment 👍👍❣🐔🐓🐔🐔🐔🐔🐔🐔🐔🐔🐣🐥🐣🐥🐣🐥❣ Maybe raise some turkeys 🦃🦃🦃🦃🦃🦃 too❣🥰 🙆♀️👍👍❣
Oh Becky, you make me cry. Your love and passion for your chickens (babies.). You my dear are going to be an awesome mom. You and Josh are such a great team and y’all will make beautiful parents. I love your content because you are so passionate in all you do. Love the way you explain everything so we are well informed. So glad you have your sister and brother in law to help with the move. Take care and till the next time stay safe. Hugs Betty 🥰🥰🥰🙏🙏🙏❤️♥️
Hi Becky, Josh and family. This was so much fun to watch. I love it that these chickens are pets. That's what I love about your homestead. Everything becomes part of the family. It's also exciting to see how you two are gonna build this whole new garden. Thanks for sharing the fun. Bye my friends 👋🏻🇳🇱❤️
P.S. That bee got his 2 seconds of fame 🤣
🐝 LOL!
I hosed it out when needed and didn't smell 😁
Oh ya, $399!!
Yes Josh, you are the nan! Quiet, diligent and doing things the right way. You both complement each other so well.
Yes Josh, you are the nan! Quiet, diligent and doing things the right way. You both complement each other so well.
Welcome home girls! What an exhausting but fulfilling day for y’all!
Never put an empty pet crate in the back of a truck. I have lost so many crates that way. If the wind catches them just right, they're gone.
❤ y'all!
We put rubber pond liner in our coup. Works great. Have had it 5 years 🐥
Yes, great idea!
Metal floor..easy cleaning and no smell after removing waste spray it down...use to have wood floor in it very smelly (urine)
The plastic floor in the dog crate likely scares them and they have no traction. Put some bark or cloth down so they donT stress.
Gives a whole new meaning to “a bird’s eye view”! Good job guys you’ve done a great job both harvest and hens.
With multiple cats I tip the carrier on its side and put them in that way.. y’all did great! I so excited they are home!!
I love that you call your chickens “my girls”. Love love your videos. I learn so much and love making your recipes.
We built a deep litter coop last year and it worked out great. We used scrap linoleum flooring as a base. One thing I would recommend for the new coop is a cupola! We had no smell in the coop whatsoever and it's healthier for the chickens : )
Josh is as handy as a pocket on a shirt. Becky, so glad you have your feather babies with you.
Hi from England Becky! Just wanted to say I love your videos and they help me to relax so much as I’m having a stressful time at the moment.
I hope to be more like you some day.
Love and appreciate the effort you put into your content for us 😊.
Chin up Chloe! Feel better soon. 😉🥰🥰
My husband keeps threatening to harvest the hens who aren't laying, but I refuse cause I love them all. We did have two new baby chicks hatch today, our first time incubating them and out of 8 eggs, 6 are viable and two hatched. So exciting!
