This is why I looked forward to potatoes every year when I had a garden. When I was pregnant with my son I had a lot of back problems and of course everyone tells you to sit and apply heat or ice but the sitting just made it worse and I also got really early braxton hicks in my 3rd trimester which only got worse if I sat or laid down so one of my biggest reliefs was getting up and moving around in my garden, digging up potatoes was my favorite. I had special double layered gloves that went almost to my elbows so I never actually touched soil and my doctor gave me a special brace to support my back and belly along with special instructions but she was very pleased that I had found an activity to give me exercise, keep me moving and get some relief for the low back pain and braxton hicks. I really miss my garden.
Your parents are kind people. I was touched when your father mentioned « God » and remarked on His greatness while admiring the potato he had just pulled out. Nice to know they have God in their lives.
Becky, even with weeds your garden looks pretty magical. It’s very lush, and has that “Secret Garden” feel. Your parents are so genuine. Their delight at digging up potatoes, carrots and onions was awesome. I’m glad you have that help. Your whole family is so supportive and it’s such a blessing to see. Thanks. Can’t wait to see how you preserve everything. Maybe you could pickle some of those small red onions whole or included them in some giardiniera.
Oh Becky, this was so emotional for me seeing you and your parents in the garden together brought a flood of emotions up. My dad was the gardener in our family and he passed over 16 years ago. My mother was the preserver in the family and she has Alzheimer’s now. I miss these days. I love your channel and your sweet family.
This was one of my favorite videos of yours to date! The fun of harvesting “hidden” crops and seeing you and your parents relish in the beauty was so heartwarming. You are so special, Becky! Thank you for sharing your kind and gentle spirit with us! ❤️
I have 3 hens that are 3 months old. Everytime I open the back door they talk to me from thier coop. Im not sure but I think they are saying, more peas, tomatoes, watermelon and cucumbers please lol. I love my girls. They make great pets!
“I grow plants for many reasons: to please my soul, or to challenge my patience, for the nostalgia, but mostly for the joy in seeing them grow….“ David Hobson Hugs sweet girl!
It brings me such joy to see people spending time with their parents. My mom has passed, and my dad is in a nursing home. You are blessed beyond measure to enjoy these special times with your folks. Also, I started following your dad's channel a few weeks ago, and I love his passion for the Lord! I get a lot out of listening to his devotionals.
I feel the same when I watch videos this precious. Both my parents have passed. Both were outdoor people and I LOVED spending time with them outside. seeing Becky with her parents is bittersweet- but I'm so happy for her having such blessings
Becky, God has blessed you so much. To have such a wonderful relationship with your parents and to have them participate in your life is so wonderful ❤️
Wow! Your mom and dad were quintessential to this process, Becky! God Bless them for their energy, tenacity, and willingness to help. So many seniors sit at home watching TV. Good job!
Ahhhh. Becky, I love your parents. Y’all have such a great relationship. Love love the harvest videos and also how much the chickens like you! Ha ha Great video.
Your parents are so sweet! I recently bought my first house and my parents have been incredibly supportive and a massive help with all my projects, especially in the yard. Watching this reminds me so much of working with my own parents in my gardens!
I love that you and your parents harvested together! I must admit...I wish I had half the relationship with my parents that you have with yours. You are truly so blessed!
When I saw all the volunteers potatoes, all o could think of was all the things you gave to goodwill when you was moving to your new home. I saw it as blessing from above. God will never be indebted to us. When we give he gives back above and beyond. Wonderful harvest.
Hearing your Dad's voice immediately makes me think, "Get ready for wisdom!" From listening to his channel. ❤️ I also love seeing the love yall have, it's beautiful. Such a blessing!
Can you please tell me what his channel is? I just can’t remember and I couldn’t find back to it amongst my appr 2,500 subscriptions… ☺️ Thanks SOOO much and happy holidays to you and yours…👏👏👏☺️🤗💓
You can definitely see you are in your element. Your face lights up while you're in the garden. Your excitement at the harvest is contagious. I smiled all the way through the video just listening to you and your family.
Becky, your mom and dad are two beautiful human beings. I imagined you and your dad hunting for potato treasures. You are a blessed daughter. Thank you.
How great that you can spend such a beautiful day with your parents. That's a priceless memory made right there. This Wisconsinite thinks your mom's garden hat is the real cheese, don't-cha know. Go Pack, Go!
Watching you bring in the harvest with your mum & dad was so lovely. I miss my parents. My dad helped me with my flower garden and vegetable garden, I'm so grateful I had all those hours with him. God bless your folks.
What a blessing to be in the garden with your parents. I wish I would have started gardening 10 yrs ago, as my Dad would have totally come and helped me, but he passed away 3 yrs ago and I didn't start gardening until this year. I'm excited to hear your dad's devotion channel. 🙏👏
I usually do potatoes in grow bags. At harvest, I literally dump each bag onto a wooden framed hardware cloth screen I made to sit over my wheelbarrow. And just sift through the soil for all the potatoes. When I'm done with 2-3 bags (and the wheelbarrow is nearly full) I amend all the soil and then refill the bags. Got it down to a science at this point.
it is so nice to see your parents helping you. My parents use to help my late husband and me on our acreage. Mom would help me in the garden and dad would help my husband with projects we had, or we would spend the day cutting up firewood. I cherish those memories. Enjoy your time together.
You are so blessed with your parents. They are awesome gardeners and I love watching them work. Their kind and loving personalities are always obvious in the videos. It is easy to see where you got your work ethic from. Angel hugs and love to you and your family. ❤😊
I love when you share your day with us! I watched this and made 3 quarts of tzatziki - one is going to my sister- and a half pint of tahini sauce. I cant garden this year- but I can do this.
I would NOT worry about harvesting potatoes in the rain. We grow lots of them in Scotland and harvest them in the rain….they just get muddy. They store them mud and all. Onions are stored in the dry separately to dry. I watched the chickens get all excited when you arrive and rush to the end of the coop to get close to you - so sweet.
Becky! What a blessing! You are so lucky to have wonderful parents, and your baby is so lucky to have wonderful grandparents. Thank you for including the phone call with your nephews. Love this video. I'll be sure to check out your dads youtube channel.
This garden is a Herculean effort and I can’t wait to see all the amazing things you’re going to grow. They’re a great crew working around all those chickens!
you haven't forgot your potatoes in the chicken run, have you? very nice harvest. your mom and dad are just priceless. i know you love and appreciate them so much. hope you all had a good lunch.
What I did with the smallest onions I grew from seed is cure them and use them for starts the following year. I grew a LOT of onions this year from those small ones from last year. Your parents are so awesome for helping you with all that work. You are truly blessed.
Lovely to see your parents so passionate about the veg as you are. Its lovely when harvesting & so nice your parents were able to help & share the excitement of finding the treasures.
Hi from British Columbia, Canada!!! Your parents are amazing!!! You're very blessed! Both my parents sadly are gone now. Enjoy every minute with them. 🙂
It hasn’t rained there bc it hasn’t stopped down here in the south😂🤪 love seeing the harvest! This was my first year trying food and I didn’t “fail” , but I only preserved some peppers in the freezer and I use them as I freeze them mostly, I get to garden in the ground now though because we moved! I’m looking forward to this life!! 😍😍
🤗 Awesome harvest day, Becky, and spending time with your dear mom and dad made it all the more special. Thanks for sharing, made my heart happier. 🥳 💟 Love and prayer hugs. Peace. 🕊
I bought a house right around the time you did, so since I will be starting a large garden from scratch I was hoping you could do a video on how you’re planning your new garden from scratch. First steps and what to consider when planting perennials. How you plan where everything goes? Huge fan and subscriber! Thanks
Always warms my heart to see you and your Mom and Dad working together. Truly miss working garden with my Dad and Mom but they went to their celestial home.
Hey for your next coop maybe make a chunk of the area for garden scraps. Think a large scale dinner plate! The girls will mess about in the area and over time that space will double as a compost heap with all the garden trimming snacks for the ladies and their waste! It’s superior compost material! Win win! 🐣
Many hands lessen the load! You guys did a great job harvesting and reclaiming the garden! I loved helping my Dad in the garden, it was our special time together.
Did I miss the video about this garden? Are you keeping this property? What a blessing to have both of your parents helping. Family is a blessing from God.
Becky, you and Josh are so blessed to both have awesome families. I love families helping one another. Your parents enjoy working with you and that is great. I will be going to your dads channel. I love devotionals. Such fun! Hugs Betty 🥰🥰🥰💕
I really enjoyed watching you and your parents work together. The love that you have for one another really shines as you communicate and work side by side. Thank you for sharing this inspiring relationship with us. Have a blessed day.
Relationships are like gardens. Start them right, maintain them well, and time between encounters will have little effect. Neglect them and they go bad.
Oh “the girls” we’re so happy to see you. I think I remember you planting some potatoes in the old chicken run , is that correct? I am so excited for you !!! What a success with your potatoes.
Your mom s the cutest, love her hat🥰 has she thought of having her own you tube channel or doing one with you once a week so she can get her own you tube love? Your mom is such a blessing to you, love you both: ❤️ from Cali
I wish her parents would do a camping vlog RUclips. Preparing, packing, planning (all the P’s!) and Cooking. I would totally watch that. They could bank a super awesome Motorcoach.
A nugget for you ... when you are going out and have a second thought on wearing something, just bring it along (ie, the boots or tennis shoes, two knives instead of one, extra bags, extra clothing or jacket). It's easier to bring it and not use it (but have the choice) than regret it later! If that little voice says something, just listen 😉
Hi Becky , that is so great your dad has a channel like that, I just subbed his channel! I never knew that about harvesting potatoes , you want dry weather not in rain. Thanks for the tip. I always learn something every video 😉 I just love how happy the chickens were! I thinking watching chickens is so much fun they crack me up.
Your parents are too cute 😍 your dad reminds me of my dad so strong and helpful ❤ I'd love to watch his channel for devotionals 🙌 we need more faith nowadays
Becky you are so lucky to have both your parents. I am the last one left in my family. You all are making memories that will last a life time. They will make wonderful grandparents. What a blessing.
Oh,Becky,I wish I were there ! There is almost nothing that gives me more pleasure than weeding gardens ! I know ,it's weird, but I love it,I'm good and fast at it ,and can go for hours !..
It looks like Bermuda grass, which I loathe and despise with a deep passion It's actually really nice to see someone else's messy garden, we've had a heck of drama filled summer and the garden has been the last priority and looks nearly as bad as when we started. Im relieved when I can see other's struggle too, but still get produce!
I love that your dad started his own channel! Both of your parents are so fun to watch. I’m getting up there in years and knew I wouldn’t be able to bend down like that for much longer so I put in vego garden beds. We did hugelkultur style in them so it wasn’t too expensive to fill. They are still breaking down but I think next years harvest will be GREAT and everything is at waist or knee level. 💕
I’m not a gardener but I really enjoyed this video. I love your mom and dad being there. It reminds me of all the time I spent with my parents doing things. Your dad has a wonderful channel and I like a lot getting caught up but I truly enjoy his videos. I get with all the restrictions today and that you have to be careful not being able to tell the name using Jesus and that Jesus has been taken out of so much. I very much understand that does not in any way reflect on your views. You and Josh are blessed to have family that spends time together. ❤️
I have been gardening and canning all weekend long, and I definitely feel my age Monday morning! Good aches and pains though. I am gratful for the abundance!
Wonderful harvest Becky!! You’re an inspiration & YOUR DAD too!! Just subscribed to his channel! Glory to God! Gotta love His grace! That’s what it’s all about🙌
Your dad saying, “I love doing potatoes cause it’s like digging for treasure” is so sweet, I’ve heard you say that so many times on your channel

I was just wondering do you till up your your chicken pen
I used to say the same thing when I was a child helping my dad harvesting our potatoes!
@@melissahoney8317 we ran out of time on this day but I will harvest it!
Do you have to clean up after the chickens are done with the plants? Then compost the rest or will they pick it clean?
Your parents are kind people. I was touched when your father mentioned « God » and remarked on His greatness while admiring the potato he had just pulled out. Nice to know they have God in their lives.

I love your family.
You are truely blessed, not just material, but richly in family and the love of the Lord🥰
28:38. “Dad, look at this potato!”, is the most joyful phrase I’ve heard all year!
I’m sure you know this, but you are blessed with SUCH AMAZINGLY SWEET parents. What a joy to watch you 3 working hard in that beautiful garden. ♥️♥️♥️

I would NOT worry about harvesting potatoes in the rain. We grow lots of them in Scotland and harvest them in the rain….they just get muddy. They store them mud and all. Onions are stored in the dry separately to dry.
