Word to the wise. Get lunch bag sized paper bags. Throw the whole head into the lunch bag. Let them dry there for a few days. Give it a shake each day to separate from the pedal. Then when you're ready. Take them to your table to separate & put in the little seed envelopes. Save yourself some time, energy, & frustration. Btw, my 7yo really enjoyed watching with me. Thank you for that cuddle time!
The lunch bags are what I’ve always done too for seed collection. Just fill it and label them and deal with sorting later. It’s much easier to do in doors.
Here I was thinking “man, she’s so brave, she just goes into all these plants and sticks her hands in there with no regard for any creepy crawlies!” And then you screamed and jumped 🤣🤣 thank you
😂 today i tried uncurling a stuck raspberry leaf and unrolled 3 different bugs in 1 leaf. I freaked out. I always touch but then freak out when theres a bug. Lol I’ve been laughing at her every time she jumps. I did it a few times myself today
not me thinking all of you gardening ladies weren't afraid of bugs 🤣 I'm new to gardening and got a slug on my hand when i was pulling out my water hose the other night and screamed and threw it across the yard 😂 still gotta get used to the crawlies
Becky, you in your glowing sweaty soil-y "state" is my favorite way to watch you because it's just natural and beautiful. Please don't apologize for not being "made up" we like you as you are!
I've been watching Becky for a month or more. Always love when I see a new video, but I've been known to rewatch her. Her cooking has also caused me to experiment with adding flavors to my cooking {and I'm 82 y.o.}. Old dogs CAN learn new tricks.
Probably why her channel is popping off! Becky is resourceful, likable & inspiring. I was just watching a 9 month old video and someone commented ‘you’re so close to 100k’ and now she’s already approaching 350k. We love to see it!
Absolutely, I have learned so much since I discovered Becky’s channel and I am neither a cook or gardener, was never interested in either until I watched her videos
Sees Becky screaming and running for a branch, then sees the woman picking up a frog... 😂😂 this could so be me! But, the longer i garden, the better i get with bugs 👌🏼
Watching your videos helps with my anxiety and depression. I've recently started tending to everything I neglected in my sick state and started planting new things. Thank you for being an inspiration and a friend to be with.
Honesty, it's incredibly refreshing and empowering to see someone on a video that's real and authentic! I love that everything doesn't have to be perfect...your hair, your saved seeds, your garden, your chicken. It is what it is and you accept it and just go for it. THAT'S REAL LIFE! Not all the photo-shopped, fashion outfits, make up, blah, blah, blah...who does that? I mean if that's what you dig, go for it I guess. But I've got a life to live, and obviously so do you. The only thing I have a hard time relating to is your level of productivity...dang girl, you're the EverReady Bunny! Really happy for you and your success. You totally deserve it.
I agree! I'm new to you but loving it! Side note... you are in Washington state in a tank top. You just posted this 7 hrs ago. I didn't look at dates or years. Anyway, I live about 20 minutes south of ft Wayne Indiana. ITS 51 OUT SIDE. Been raining for 2 days and all day tomorrow. FLIP SIDE... Friday is supposed to be 77. I have always wanted to can and garden. I grew up with it. My parents are in their 80's. You are teaching me so much. Thank you!!!!
This woman is a force of nature! I love how deftly she moves through all the things she has going on at once. Did she say she has a job???? How? Loving your videos so much.
I used to go to a church in centralia , Washington that had an annual apple harvest from the trees of those in the church who had too many apples. Volunteers would pick them and then bring them to the church which had 4 stoves, a commercial dishwasher and lots of counter space. We would all be assigned a station. Some would do those hand crank peelers, others would trim out worm holes and such, some would would use those things that slice and core in one move, some would man the bowls of lemon water that all apples went into to keep them from browning. They would start making applesauce first (it had to cool before it could be packaged up) followed by apple pie filling. We would all bring a box of gallon zip lock bags, sugar, cinnamon and lemon use to make, pack the finished product. This was an all day affair which gave everyone chance to catch up while working and at the end it would be divided between all the volunteers and those who weren’t able to participate. Then all the peels and cores would be in 5 gallon buckets which were taken home to one guy’s pigs. Nothing wasted. Everyone could just either toss their bags in the freezer until needed or like me can most of it at home.
Thanks for sharing your story. Fun and efficient, I’d love to work in a kitchen like that with other like-minded volunteers. In fact, I’m getting hungry now just thinking about it. Lol
@@carolynmills513 what you said makes sense. I have a church community that is all very close to each other, and it’s one of the best things, because you feel included and helpful anytime you help with any community wide project
I have a little nephew around 4yrs old, and I recently showed him the shirt method for carrying things. It changed his little life 😂 so now every time I see someone do it it makes me smile
OMG you just made me cry 🥲... both ny Grandmas were avid gardeners and I never got into it when they were alive. I will save some for my nieces and nephews since I can't have babies but I do want them to love nature and enjoy it as much as I do.
Becky, one suggestion for you. Start a garden journal outlining what you planted, the names of the seeds, how certain plants performed and what you plan to do next year, etc.
I love how real you are, from how you admit you don’t know something to screaming when a bug falls on you (which I do too), you’re just being yourself and that’s what makes your videos great!!!
I stopped this mid video and went and did a harvest in my garden. Mine’s much smaller but got about 12 tomatoes, 10 or 15 peppers, a small butternut squash and a bunch of turnip. Oh, and a handful of green beans for my daughter’s guinea pigs.😊 You are such a motivator. That and it’s going to rain tomorrow and then I’m going away for 3 days, so it’s now or never. You make me chuckle so many times during your videos and I can relate to you so much!
I love her! She makes me want to get into my mess of a garden and tidy it up. I know I’ve got a ton of zinnia seeds to harvest, and I’m so hoping to find several veggies ready to harvest. I have an apple tree, too that I want to learn how to prune. It’s 20 years old and I planted it when I was in high school! Never been pruned and the apples aren’t very good. I’m hoping pruning will help it make better fruits. I also love how- just like me- she screams when she finds a bug 😝
Becky, I just admire your moxie! And, I have to laugh over the earwig squeal... You are such a joy! One of the most determined young ladies I have EVER seen... I love it!
Girl, you are stunning regardless of your level of put togetherness. Absolutely beautiful, intelligent, caring, independent, self efficient, talented, etc. Never apologize for your appearance. You are incredible.
I’ve only been watching you for about over a month and I don’t have land to have a garden but I love your videos and I love how real you are. Thank you for that!
Becky, you are so relatable. Your squeaks when you encountered frogs and bugs were hilarious and many of us would react in the same way. I am recommending your channel to all my beginner gardener friends!
When your daddy said “seed time and …. harvest” I wanted to climb through and hug him! Just like my dad!!! We are experiencing major harvest right now! And we don’t even have a garden. God has been so faithful!!!!! 🙌🙌🙌
I lost my dad when I was 21, long before I was a home owner or a gardener. I'm 30 now and it makes me happy to see you so eager to work on projects with your dad.
I have peeled, cored and sliced apples, dip them in a mixture of honey and water and then put them in the dehydrator. They make amazing apple chips. And I heard years ago that if you plant marigolds in your garden that the deer stay away. I think it's something about their smell. Your garden is amazing. Love to watch your videos. They are so informative and entertaining.
Stumbled onto your channel while I was getting my chemo treatment. It definitely made it a better day. I think I am hooked. Thank you so much for sharing. I was glad to hear that you are in Washington. It gives me hope. We have enough property to do a huge garden , but I did a little one to test the waters a couple of years ago. I think we had the healthiest deer in the neighborhood that year. They ate everything before I could harvest. BUT I was okay with that. However, I think if all goes well for me I will start planning out and maybe building planter boxes. I will be keeping up with your videos and hope I will continue to be motivated.
IMPORTANT - Never plant tomatoes in the same spot 2 years in a row.... unless you amend the soil with a LARGE amount of compost basically creating a new garden bed. In your situation I'd give it a break...especially as you have so many beds & you can rotate your crops. Why do you rotate tomatoes? Because of bad nematodes which harm the roots so impact your plant health & harvest. These bad nematodes increase with each year you continuously plant tomatoes in the same area so the second year might be ok but you will notice a decline in crop yeild with each year. The soil needs the good bacteria to kill off the bad which takes about 12 months. Love your channel.
I have had small gardens for years but still consider myself a novice because there is much I don’t know. While we had to raise most of what we needed for the year my grandma who lived across the field from us grew all the strawberries and tomatoes for themselves and us. She took great pride in both those patches which never rotated. The tomato patch was outside the kitchen window. She always grew enough tomatoes not only for fresh eating but for all the canned tomatoes, sauce, juice and go made ketchup for the year. I don’t know if she did anything special to the beds other than lots of rabbit poo that my brothers would haul over there. The tomatoes for sandwiches were always big enough for one thick slice for one sandwich on homemade bread and homemade bread. Back then if you ate homemade bread it was because you were too poor for store-bought. Same with Mayo. But at the end of summer it didn’t matter because all of us kids thought it was such a treat to be able to have fresh tomato or cucumber sandwiches.
Marigolds peppers do away with bad nematodes there's more plants that help too. Rotation is a 4 yr to 5 yr process with small gardens soil management is key.
Y’all are blowing my mind. I’m an inner city girl who never had the land to grow anything. But my brain is storing this information for future possible apocalypse. Thank you for sharing.
You look so cute today! I can't believe how many apples were on that tree! Applesauce, apple pie filling, dehydrated, freeze dryer, apple fruit roll ups, apple jelly (make from your cores and peels), apple butter, so many options!! Congrats on another incredible harvest.
When it comes to marigolds - the really stinky ones work as pest deterrents in amongst your veggies. I've used them as deer and rabbit deterrents for favourite plants like peas, spinach, and lettuce .
The puritans, the original settlers would be seriously impressed and proud of these nature people. Smart, skilled, talented gardeners with an obvious green thumb. 👍
You just crack me up! And you have really just "come into your own" since you started your channel. I'm convinced you could keep non gardening people happily entertained with your videos. Especially ones like this! Keep up the good work... like others have said... you are a great inspiration & encouragement for new gardeners & canners as well. Keep those videos coming!🤗
I'm asking my husband and family for only canning/ kitchen products this Christmas and im planning to start a raised garden bed when I can all cause of you!☺❤
Yay! You won’t regret it this is my first year gardening and canning! My best advice, don’t get discouraged and if you can’t do everything you wanted to. That’s okay there is always next season to learn and grow more food
I'm also excited to ask for this! Already got the plans in action for a nice garden next year! Just need some canning, preserving kitchen products & hopefully a dehydrator 🥰
Don’t forget to check out the thrift stores!! I find boxes of jars all the time! I got an awesome food processor for six bucks! I get Pyrex dishes too!
Watching you pick the apples, and putting them in your shirt, I would actually like to recommend getting an Apple Picking Bag. It's a bag that fits on your front to put whatever you are harvesting into, and then it opens at the bottom to put in either the wheelbarrow or buckets/boxes. That way you don't risk stretching out your clothing and can stay picking longer! They're $20-$25 each on amazon, and worth every penny. I suggest canvas ones.
My family has been using them for decades after we bought property with many, many fruit trees on it. Cherries, Plums, and Apples, and all of it easier with the bags, whether you're on the ground picking from smaller trees/lower branches or up a ladder getting the ones Bambi can't reach. And heck, we used them the couple of years we grew our own corn, too!
Girl, I am just amazed that you have such nice nails. Between our chickens, cows, garden and having my hands in dishwater all the time, I couldn't keep nails to save my life! Love your videoes.
Becky- I just found your channel a few days ago and I have binged watched almost every video. Were the same age and you inspire and motivate me to do better lol. I have a garden and did absolutely nothing with it. I'm about an hour or so from you down here in Oregon. So also in zone 8b and let me just say your garden tours are so incredibly inspiring and exciting to me. I've never been sure what I could and couldn't grow in this area so thank your for sharing all things gardening and preserving. I'm excited for 2022.
Welcome!! I'm so glad you are here Tabatha!! Oregon will always be my home! I grew up in PDX! I'm excited for 2022 too! It will be fun to grow with you :)
My mom moved to the WA Peninsula several years ago. Her new house has an established orchard with several apple trees. One year she hired what she called “gleaners” to get all the apples she couldn’t reach or process. Didn’t know that about not leaving fruit to rot, will pass it on to her. Thank you for so much information presented in a lovely way. Always enjoy hanging out with you. ♥️
If she’s interested, there are lots of people who would love to collect the leftovers. If she has a FB she could post in a local foraging group or to a buy nothing group and it would bless so many!
@@rebekahkasper6126 I believe that is exactly what they mean by "gleaners". Biblically, it was the practice that good husbandry of the land included inviting the women, orphans and disabled or old of the community to come and glean the fields for food, and many of the landowners would instruct those harvesting to make sure there was food left for them to gather. They were never wasteful but it was equally felt that picking the fields clean was as bad as being wasteful and showed poor management of the land. That is something that has been lost I'm afraid (please tell me if I am wrong and you have seen it still being practiced in agriculture today!)
I've gotten free fruit by looking in the classified ads under "free produce." The homeowners always act so thrilled that someone will be using the fruit so it's not wasted.
When in doubt of naming your seeds, try drawing a rough sketch on the seed packet. You may not be Picasso, but next spring it may help you decide/remember.
What a treat to have this video today. I’ll be telling myself, “keep swimming, keep swimming, keep swimming.” My jalapeño peppers didn’t produce this year so I bought 10lbs of them to make the cowboy candy. I, like your husband do not do heat but my husband like you loves it so I’m making a few things just for him and the cowboy candy is one of them. Your garden has been a blessing to you, to those you share with and to all of us that have been enamored with your channel! Thanks for sharing.
Calendula - all dark and light things are seeds. Zinnia - those are openpolinators so youmay have some interesting crosses.. maybe new colourmix and you can call it Becky's zinnia and sell seeds??
The church that my mother used to attend was close to a hamburger stand and people eating on the go would throw the tomatos in the surrounding the parking lot and some of the attendees would harvest them. A similar thing happened at my house years ago after my son would spit out the watermelon seeds that found their way to the grass end of the driveway. Yes we let them grow
Becky i have to say that im soo happy you left that screaming scene in so funny it definitely made my day. Im so happy that you're so comfortable with yourswlf and its truly awesome. Im so glad i found you!
I think Miss Olive is going to be your channel mascot. We need to see her in all the garden videos! Beautiful harvest, and I can't wait for all the preserving videos.
Becky I want to thank you and Josh for your videos for all of you out there I am in my 60’s and you can teach an old dog new tricks. You both have given of your spirit your ideas and your hard work . If I worked as hard as you I would have collapsed. 😅
Becky, I love watching how perfectly imperfect and honest your journey is. I managed to successfully grow an urban garden this year and it’s definitely a lot of trial and error. Thank you for keeping it real. 💛
I cannot believe how much your channel has grown! In less than 6 months, an increase of more than 110,000. It is a testament to how truly entertaining and inspiring you are. Haha, hubby needs to be on the channel, he said he would when you reached 100k subs!
Look up " Wippoorwill holler. She has a video on canning apples that she layers them in a large container with sugar in between layers. Then after 24 hours she puts them in quart jars with hot water and cans them you can do many things with them. I think her name is Lori. Great channel.
NEVER apologize for your appearance! You are gorgeous, and you are REAL! Your Dad is adorable, and I love how excited he gets at your harvest. He must be so proud. I'm looking forward to seeing how many ways you can process apples 😆 Keep on keepin' on Becky!
I grew Sun Gold cherry tomatoes from seed for the very first time this year and was blown away with the sweetness!! We ate as much fresh as we could (5 grandkids that eat constantly while helping Granny in the garden) and I dehydrated the rest, often a couple of dehydrator trays a day. They turned out darn near as sweet as raisins! Going to be a great addition to my salads! I do not prune my indeterminate tomatoes, allowing suckers to grow and fruit unless they start forming a solid wall which doesn’t allow air flow. I do however remove the all foliage below the (first) lowest set of fruit. I do that on all my tomatoes. I scrub my hands with lemon juice (bottled) to get plant stains off my skin. Stings for a moment when cleaning up from harvesting wild blackberries but it is the only thing that seems to stop the itchiness of thorn stabs.
Love your channel. I recently found your channel, and I can say that I'm obsessed and impressed. I come from a farmer family in Europe, and I know the excitement of harvesting your own produce. Keep up the great work. ❤️
You might know this already but, if you have a school in the area with an agricultural program, they might be able to identify the apple varieties for you, especially in Washington. I'm in New York, so I go to the Cornell Cooperative Extension when I need to identify something. While I know there's some definite overlap in apple varieties grown NY and WA, I also know there are some HUGE differences, so a local place might be better for you.
Agricultural extension offices are great for this! I'm pretty sure every single state has them, they're such a godsend- they test our soil in our pastures every few years and have been super helpful in identifying a few noxious weeds that popped up.
I love your innocence and how you are always being yourself and real. Keep it up. Your videos never bore me like many other youtube videos do, I guess it's because you don't pretend to be a pro gardener or even a pro-RUclipsr. You share your own real experiences without much edit. It's like watching you grow as an individual. Also, I learn so much from your experiments, mistakes, and success. Wishing you all the best in your future endeavors.
Hi Dad! Becky, your family is AWESOME!!! I love that you are yourself! Do you know how happy your videos make me? It is restorative watching you harvest apples and seed! My mind is racing with apple ideas. Do you like cranberries? I buy during the holidays, freeze, and add a bag to my applesauce. Beautiful and super delicious!! I'm a hot sauce lover too. I like trying different kinds! I was wondering if the heirloom tomatoes are expensive? Your 'maters look delicious! Love to you and your family 👪 ❤
As someone who has their whole garden in pots (I am 21 and am looking to move out soon, the pots are so I can take my garden with me) I really look forward to your videos and enjoy learning with you. Your gardening growth is inspiring and I am learning so much from you . Thank you!!!!!
Everything we have grows in pots too! Looking forward to moving to our own homestead..... just waiting on settlement now! All these pots are coming with us!
That is SO sweet how your dad comes to help you in the yard. WOW! Those apples are gorgeous and FREE. What a lovely gift from former owner! Apple trees can take years before getting any fruit and you don't need to wait. How awesome... You are like the energizer bunny girl! Waving HELLO back to your dad!
I love cleaning the house & cooking while binging your vids! You're such a light & a positive influence in my day to day life, THANK YOU Becky you're the best!!! God bless
Hi Becky. Over here in the UK we use the green tomatoes by making them into a Chutney. Would you like the recipe? Love the channel, you always cheer the other half and myself up...❤️
Hi there! Am new to writing to comments and certainly have no wish to upset Becky by putting up an unrequested recipe so if You are all ok for me to PM you will that be ok? Will now be later as am about to go out to town for the first time in months!, 😍😏
Dehydrated apple slices are amazing, and the perfect snack. You can't really make too many. It would be weird for you to do hair/make up to go sweat in the garden, lol. You look like a normal person.
Please don't stress about how you look for videos, one you're completely adorable ALWAYS and who is putting makeup and dressing up to harvest fruit and veggies! Thank you so much for sharing all of this information! It really helps me feel like I could grow my own fruits and vegetables like you! You're such an inspiration!
What a way to let go of stress. Caring for a huge garden is very rewarding. Beautiful harvest. On a side note, would be nice to see how you bunn up your hair. I always looking for a new way to get my hair out of the way.
You have another amazing harvest. I wish I had planted fruit trees when we built in 2004... I have no excuss. I absolutely love zinnias.. I'm just learning about calendula. Ps..it makes me happy to see your Dad helping a daughter. I lost my Dad 1 1/2 yrs ago. He always loved coming to my garden even at my age of 62. I miss him.
You have such an abundant harvest, you could almost run a small farm stand. Especially with that Apple harvest! 🍎 You can also put together some apple pies and throw them in the freezer uncooked. They come in handy over the holidays and make good gifts too!
You are so delightful! I really enjoy watching you putter around, doing stuff on the homestead. Thank you for making these videos, I'm learning right along with you.
I loved doing all this when our kids were young. I'd make Homemade applesauce & Apple pie filling. Can alot of it. It'd be perfect when we'd make Apple bread, Pies and we'd also make alot of Pumpkin bread. My Family loved that. Your doing a great job girly. 😊💚
I’ll have to catch it later on but excited to see what you have in store for us. Also, congratulations on your channel. I’ve only been watching for about 6 weeks but my goodness, it’s just exploded! Good for you and good for us!!!
The first apple tree you picked in this video, next year I would thin the fruit set. This spaces out the apples and lets the remaining ones get bigger. You do this really early in the season. Hope that helps!
Becky, your positivity is contagious and I love watching your videos to wind down at the end of my day. I hope to work even half as hard as you do. Here's hoping the other chickens start behaving soon, and hope you're having a wonderful day. Stay safe and be well.
I just love watching... this is my guilty pleasure when I need a break from school (and life, sometimes!) ... I have returned to school after raising my family to get my degree, finally. Thank you for entertaining, teaching and inspiring! We need more people like you! Hugs & smiles!
GIRL...I am totally impressed with your harvests and can't wait to see what you do with this one. But--besides all of the other 'hats' you wear, you might want to consider setting up a little fruit/vegetable stand in front of your house with a cash box for folks to drop payments into for what they buy. I've seen this work in rural areas. Just an idea for any surplus you don't have the time or the energy to process that will generate a little cash for more seeds for next year's harvest. :-) Thanks for sharing another exciting harvest, Becky :-D
An idea you can do with all those apples is make apple butter. Every year I go apple picking with my friends and make about 4-5 quarts of apple butter, it makes great gifts too! I do it without a slow cooker/ pressure pot but I hear it's a lot easier with either one. Just got to the end of the video- can't wait to see you and your sisters make some!! :)
Fuchsia double tier flowers? My new favourite thing is watching your videos to wind down in the evening! Love your tips, experimenting and passion. So informative. Thank you 💓
Love watching your channel and love that you keep it real and down to earth! No pun intended😁 you inspire me that much more knowing you aren't " put together" all the time. It makes it that much more realistic but very much possible! Keep up the great work!
Save way more than you think you need. Zinnias and marigolds are so good to draw bees and pollinators, and one year may fail. I always saved tons of them and they mingled and became assorted and beautiful. Mine always had double and single on same plant. Once dried, they stay viable for several years
I put my seed heads onto a paper plate and place them on top one corner of my cable tv box for gentle heat to make sure the seeds are fully dry. Be sure to write on the plate what variety or color is on them for future reference. Nothing more disappointing than opening up last year’s seeds to find that they were destroyed by mold b/c not 100% dry when put into paper envelopes. 2 other pluses to this method: I can sort out the chaff so it takes up less storage space. I seem to have a better chance of preventing bringing insects into my house.
You can store your apples in a root cellar if you have one and use them throughout the winter to make pies, desserts and to eat fresh. They last a pretty good amount of time before they get soft... Especially if your root cellar is really cold. That way, you don't have to process ALL of your harvest at the same time...and leave some in the trees for the deer and birds to eat during the winter and early spring. 😁 Btw apples look like Fuji or Gala.

if the chickens have too much fruit left, you can turn the injured apples or other hard fruit into vinegar. Just a suggestion 😉🐱
You are very beautiful....❤️❤️❤️❤️
Word to the wise. Get lunch bag sized paper bags. Throw the whole head into the lunch bag. Let them dry there for a few days. Give it a shake each day to separate from the pedal. Then when you're ready. Take them to your table to separate & put in the little seed envelopes. Save yourself some time, energy, & frustration. Btw, my 7yo really enjoyed watching with me. Thank you for that cuddle time!
The lunch bags are what I’ve always done too for seed collection. Just fill it and label them and deal with sorting later. It’s much easier to do in doors.
Yes, this.
@@Sherrie_D Yes Sherrie, exactly what I do! Bring all the bags into kitchen and sit at the table with a nice cold drink. 😀🍹
Yes that makes it way easier. Plus it allows you to put off some of the more time consuming work until after the harvest if need be.
Great suggestion! I'm going to do this tomorrow. Thank you!
Here I was thinking “man, she’s so brave, she just goes into all these plants and sticks her hands in there with no regard for any creepy crawlies!” And then you screamed and jumped 🤣🤣 thank you
Yeah she's brave I would cover myself up so nothing touch me!
Now that would be me. I hate creepy-crawlies.
😂 today i tried uncurling a stuck raspberry leaf and unrolled 3 different bugs in 1 leaf. I freaked out. I always touch but then freak out when theres a bug. Lol I’ve been laughing at her every time she jumps. I did it a few times myself today
Oh this is me. I garden in a hazmat suit!
not me thinking all of you gardening ladies weren't afraid of bugs 🤣 I'm new to gardening and got a slug on my hand when i was pulling out my water hose the other night and screamed and threw it across the yard 😂 still gotta get used to the crawlies
Becky, you in your glowing sweaty soil-y "state" is my favorite way to watch you because it's just natural and beautiful. Please don't apologize for not being "made up" we like you as you are!

Yup 👍
🙌🏻 well put. It's why I love her too 😁 you've got this Becky!
Sweetheart, I wish WISH I had your energy! I’m 70 yrs old and the Texas heat really gets to me when I’m in my garden. You’re a joy to watch!!
This is the first video of hers I’ve ever seen and I’m less than 5 minutes in and I love her.
Me too! I discovered her a few hours ago and have been binging. Ha!
@@easyplease5068 same here. All day while gardening and working on my pantry
When you find a flower, that you like, that is bloom. Place a ribbon on it, then when it dies back, you the exact flower you wanted
That's so smart!
I do this too! It's so helpful when they are over to be able to identify your favourites 🙂
That is such a great tip !! I’ll definitely try to do that this year, thank you 🥰
Love this tip! I'm definitely doing this this year with my zinnias
Great idea!
To whomever that gave this woman a thumbs down - take put your frustrations where they belong. She is nothing but helpful.
Go easy on the deaf, dumb and blind
😁😆😅🤣
Chill😲
Thanks for reminding, them thumbs down for such hard work, unbelievable.
SAME! 😂
Definitely me
Definitely+
Cracks me up every time!
Same here! I'm getting better at "things" that touch me in the garden 😆
One of my favorite things she says is “these will go to the chickens” 😊
Watching your videos helps with my anxiety and depression. I've recently started tending to everything I neglected in my sick state and started planting new things. Thank you for being an inspiration and a friend to be with.
Keep up the good work, Victoria! You can do this.
I agree
I’m in a very depressed state now and this seems to be breaking through somehow
Same for me. I hope she understands how much she helps people by just being herself.
I'd argue that those things ARE perfect just as they are. I am not sure you meant it to but this comes off as a real ...um...left handed compliment.
I agree with everything you said! I appreciate her self described "fly by the seat of your pants style." It makes everything less daunting to me.
Every time I see you’ve posted a new video it’s like a little jolt of serotonin to my brain. Can’t wait to see this new video🙌🏾👏🏾!
Same!!😍
Colette, That makes my heart happy to hear :)
Completely agree
Totally agree
Honestly, the dramatic yelps and screams made this video for me! I'm glad I'm not the only one who loves nature but doesn't want it to touch me! 😂 ❤️
Oh Becky…. I’d rather hang out with you and your garden and kitchen than any “influencer” that’s taken hours to get camera ready!
Oh thank you!
@@AcreHomestead sooo true!
SAMMEEEE
So so true!
Seriously, we're gardeners. We don't have time to do hours of makeup, we got work to do!
This woman is a force of nature! I love how deftly she moves through all the things she has going on at once. Did she say she has a job???? How?
Loving your videos so much.
I have NO IDEA! Her level of hyperefficiency is something to aspire to.
I love a garden harvest with jump scares 😂. Becky you have created a new RUclips genre lol
Same 🤣🤣 I couldn't contain myself
Finally, a real life garden channel that shows those moments we all have!
Lol
Loved this, thanks for sharing.
So Godlike!
One of the best parts of being in a close minded church. Not closed minded, you know where people are close. Oh never mind.
Oh my gosh that giant cucumber!
I have marigold seeds that originated from my great grandmother's beds. I plant the seed back every year and it is my absolute treasure.
OMG you just made me cry 🥲... both ny Grandmas were avid gardeners and I never got into it when they were alive. I will save some for my nieces and nephews since I can't have babies but I do want them to love nature and enjoy it as much as I do.
@@valeriamares1731 oh that is a lovely idea ❤ 😍
That's beautiful
Becky, one suggestion for you. Start a garden journal outlining what you planted, the names of the seeds, how certain plants performed and what you plan to do next year, etc.
She's not good at documentation. That's why she started the channel.
She is doing this thru these videos
Me with nothing everyday
She is so motivating! I always wind up grabbing stuff outside or grabbing the canner. 🤣
Her motivation is pure inspiration!!!
Thank you!
🙌🙌🙌
All very very best!
I lost my dad when I was 21, long before I was a home owner or a gardener. I'm 30 now and it makes me happy to see you so eager to work on projects with your dad.
My Dad's alive n wants nothing to do with being a father or grandfather it's nice to see young ladies with fathers who care for them
I have peeled, cored and sliced apples, dip them in a mixture of honey and water and then put them in the dehydrator.
Thank you for being here!!!
Hope all is going well for you and wish you good gardening days ahead💫
You can rotate tomatoes with beans, beans fix Nitrogen on the soil, that is a great food for the tomatoes ☺️☺️☺️
You can also add the ash and the black charred pieces from your fire pit to your flower beds.
Crock pot apple crisp!
I love watching these videos so much, my husband has started randomly asking me "How's Becky doing today?" :)
As a non-gardening person I admit to being happily entertained with Becky’s videos. I also feel that I’m learning which is always a good thing.
This brown thumb is extremely excited that I found her! So therapeutic!
^^ comment by my 4 year old. 😂
That’s what I have. We have 3 that are 12 by 6 and I will never go back to doing it normallly. Lol
I'm also excited to ask for this! Already got the plans in action for a nice garden next year! Just need some canning, preserving kitchen products & hopefully a dehydrator 🥰
My husband asked me what I wanted for my birthday and I told him canning things :)
I'm going to get me one of those! Great idea!
I was actually thinking along the same lines when I saw the good ole t-shirt pouch, only we call them harvesting aprons 😉
Girl, I am just amazed that you have such nice nails. Between our chickens, cows, garden and having my hands in dishwater all the time, I couldn't keep nails to save my life! Love your videoes.
Love your dads reaction he looked so proud 💕
One tip that saved my apples, make sure to rake up all the ground apples it cuts down on insect damage the next year.
Right?!?!? Isn’t she delightful?!?!?
8b? How wonderful. I'm in zone 4b, but don't let it fool ya more like zone 3 lately!
@@rebekahkasper6126
I believe that is exactly what they mean by "gleaners".
You’re so fortunate to have your dad’s help! So sweet of him to volunteer to help you. 👍🥰
When in doubt of naming your seeds, try drawing a rough sketch on the seed packet. You may not be Picasso, but next spring it may help you decide/remember.
You can always look back at this video, too! 😉
My dad usually makes dried-Apple-rings with some of his Apples they are a great snack and good gifts 😊
And great for fried apple pie!
What a treat to have this video today. I’ll be telling myself, “keep swimming, keep swimming, keep swimming.”
My jalapeño peppers didn’t produce this year so I bought 10lbs of them to make the cowboy candy.
RUclips randomly recommended your video to me. This was so lovely and relaxing to watch.
I really relate to your style of gardening, including screeching and throwing everything when there is a bug :D
What resources did you use to get started? Any notable recommendations?
I cannot believe how much your channel has grown! In less than 6 months, an increase of more than 110,000. It is a testament to how truly entertaining and inspiring you are.
Haha, hubby needs to be on the channel, he said he would when you reached 100k subs!
GF I swear you have had more than one triple shot of coffee this morning, I luv ya, you are hilarious.
Yes we'll said, very cute.
Look up " Wippoorwill holler. She has a video on canning apples that she layers them in a large container with sugar in between layers. Then after 24 hours she puts them in quart jars with hot water and cans them you can do many things with them. I think her name is Lori. Great channel.
You're reaping the fruits of your harvest what a blessing .
Gardening is so therapeutic and fun .🌺🌻🏵️🐓🍅🍎🍐🍓🌶️🥕
One of the reasons I love watching your videos is because we see “you”. Please don’t change
I don’t prune my cherry/grape tomatoes. The bushier my plant, the more tomatoes. Love watching your excitement and pride about what you produced!
I don't see y ppl would even hate this video, I enjoy watching u Becky
Thank you!
Love the channel, you always cheer the other half and myself up...❤️
I would! 😁
Me too!
I would please 🤗🦋
Tracy please do share your recipe for green tomatoe chutney.
Hi there! Am new to writing to comments and certainly have no wish to upset Becky by putting up an unrequested recipe so if
You are all ok for me to PM you will that be ok? Will now be later as am about to go out to town for the first time in months!, 😍😏
Dehydrated apple slices are amazing, and the perfect snack. You can't really make too many.
It would be weird for you to do hair/make up to go sweat in the garden, lol. You look like a normal person.
I know people outside of the South tend not to eat fried green tomatoes or green tomato salsa, but you guys are really missing out. :(
I love you Becky! You make me laugh out loud literally. You also get me emotional , grateful and really happy. I always enjoy hanging out with you x
Thank you for being here Paula!
YOUR channel s EXPLODING!! Congrats!! 🙌❤️❤️❤️
Super stoaked that this one was almost an hour long!! But now super sad that it's over 😂 thank you for sharing your beautiful harvests with us!
The first apple tree you picked in this video, next year I would thin the fruit set. This spaces out the apples and lets the remaining ones get bigger. You do this really early in the season. Hope that helps!
Awe, chicky is absolutely loving hanging around with u in the garden.
I live in Atlanta probably never will garden. So good job on "our" garden 😆
Seriously Becky, you're a "farm champion"👏👏 bravo
You have me energized, I’m off to scrub my baseboards!❤️
I loved everything about this video! You're so personable and it's fun to see your harvest and your excitement!
If you have a cool dry place you can store some for yourself to eat fresh 🙂
Once dried, they stay viable for several years
I like to grow excess pollinator plants and spare seedlings get planted in gaps or in the road verges.
Perfect!
Start thin your apples to keep your trees have good amount every year. You will also get largerfruits.
Btw apples look like Fuji or Gala.
I was thinking the same thing!
