Adam doesn't have chops, per se. Just a masterful ability to play simple patterns accurately and with finesse and tasteful effects to intertwine with the rest. Justin and Danny, no contest and Maynard before he stopped taking care of his voice.
I just realized after 20+ years that this song describes me. I was shocked really listening to the words. I've been planning an ayahuasca retreat for the last two years- covid fucked so many of life's plans- but I've been scared as hell my whole life. I have had ptsd since I was 6 and from so many other nightmarish shit I wound up in and it so supressed,, I just go thru life numb & hiding inside myself. Ruining everything I touch. Thank you Maynard & tool for thos song ice heard since I was in my 20s ( 50 now), for it to finally sink in from you to me. Blessed be.
Didn't they have Meshuggah opening for them around that time? I remember I missed that tour but ended up seeing Meshuggah later that year as a headliner with Strapping Young Lad opening and it was crazy awesome.
I remember seeing them in “93” at Lallapalooza in Nashville,Tn. They were on the side stage with RATM. How things & times have changed. Thank you, cheers☕️
That show is where I first hedr/saw Tool. I just remember wandering over to the second stage and there was this guy with his head shaved except a long strip in the middle wearing long johns and being blow away.
Adam open this with a rush riff live ....so sick, lateralus was a iconic time to see them live ..2001-2002.mjk blew his voice with the grudge or they would of toured more but only played 96 shows
Currently my favorite song of all time by any band of any genre. I consider myself an avid listener of music (especially rock). Been listening to various rock bands daily since youth (80s-90s) kid. I'm really into Sabbath, Maiden, NIN, Alice In Chains, The Melvins (all who, coincidentally enough, have toured with/friends with Tool & who has been inspired & gotten inspiration from) A lot of epic shit so it's always been hard for me to pick a "favorite". But fuck man there is something about this song I just can't get enough of. I don't really know quite sure where Maynard going with the lyrics but I imagine something about a sexual spiritual awakening or something. It's weird though. Out of all the bands I've adored through my 44 years I have never completely gotten out of my Tool phase. Been listening religiously since 1993. So I guess if I were or had to pick ONE favorite song ever it would be a Tool song.
He's talking about a scared spider who is trying to bite him because it's scared but that attack and its scared appearance is 😱 frightening him. ......maybe???
Maynard and the band tool are the best shit ever! This is my 999999998.5 time listening to this album and I plan on listening to them 99999999999.0more love all Maynards bands.

One of the greatest vocal tracks of the 20th century. Not many vocalists could faithfully reproduce this. Still outstanding after all these years.
