My first concert was Tool in 1996…Maynard covered in blue glow paint…I’ll never ever forget it. I still remember the moment I heard them for the first time, like it was yesterday.
How old were you? My first concert was in 1988, when I was 11! I saw Glass Tiger. But my first concert I went to see without an adult was Nirvana in 1992! I dropped four hits of double dose cosmic clinical acid, and snorted some Angel Dust beforehand, then we met these chicks in their early twenties who wanted teenage playthings for the night, and they fed us peyote and blow all night! Best 15th birthday ever!
I was 7 in 96. I discovered Tool in my teens. Never been to a Tool concert. I wish I could have been at them all. Tool helped me through so much psychological hell. Tool, APC, and Puscifer is all I've been listening to for the past 3 months. Music has been the only effective therapy. If it wasn't for Tool I wouldn't even have that.
The songwriting is just phenomenal on this track. Positive sounding riffs with this underlying sinister edge. Then the end of the song shows its true face. One of their most underrated songs.

I think that they saw what was happening not only to their generation but would to the next few generations. Even if they didn't see it coming they were prophetic and I'm sure this song means so much to millions of others just like me..
Got diagnosed positive on Opiate today after a Tool concert a day before. When the doctor at the firm told me, I was positive on Opiate, that song immediately came in my mind. Didn't know, you can get positive after inhaling it by third hand accidentally.
My husband and I’s song. We danced our first dance at our wedding to this song. Will forever be our song. Being from az Maynard would be hanging out at the same places as us so we met him a bunch of times. Never got the nerve to tell him this song is our song though. Still the best song.
The symbolism in the new image is very profound. .The tree/bush thing on the wall in the parabola video has it's branches set up in the same geometric positions... anyway. .I like the new artwork.
It came from Drummer Danny Carey’s hydro Enema experience topped with some LSD. He completely left his body came across this Priest that was 7 feet tall “ right when the priest was going to tell Danny when this would all end He returned to his body”, now we have this wonderful picture. Tool goes Deep, deeper than people think . Or take Keenan serious but this , it really happened..... The Hydro colonics experiences !!
Well. TOOL themselves covered this song and the only bands to make this song perfect are TOOL. Megadeth and Metallica would add an unnecessary solo and I don't know enough about Slayer or Anthrax to pass judgement
Who was at the second stage at lollapalooza. They weren't even on the main stage. Best Live concerts ever if you have seen them live; it's like seeing Jimi H in OUR time. Epic!!!

@@claudiasolomon1123 I gotta agree with you. Dont get me wrong, I liked the reimagining and it shows their evolution and it had a wider soundscape but I felt the guitar lacked bite and the drums were under mixed. LOVE HOW THEY BRING "NEW" ASPECTS OF REALITY TO OTHERS.
Just coming back to listen to the original version :D
My favorite all time band
Definitely one of Maynard's best screams.
the grudge...
@@kristphercoco6256 still nails that scream to this day. He's amazing
I'm a personal fan of the one in H.
Yup. BOTTOM tho? The best-----" dead... in-SIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIDE!"
dont forget the grudge
I think it goes without saying that there's no music like nineties music.. This amazing song was released when I was a small child.. It means so much to me decades later. I think that they saw what was happening not only to their generation but would to the next few generations. Even if they didn't see it coming they were prophetic and I'm sure this song means so much to millions of others just like me..
TOOL IS LEGENDARY
Trust in me!!! Following for 22 years! I’m beating myself up for Not listening in the 90’s! I was so missing the greatest band that ever lived!
Opiate² babyy.Cant wait!
Maynards best scream of all time in this track?! I say yes!
nah the one on bottom is
The Grudge
The Pot
Ticks and leeches. At the end of that song the scream is just the most powerful
Jerk-Off has a fucking great scream. It's currently my favorite.
Tool you are the freakin best.
Got diagnosed positive on Opiate today after a Tool concert a day before.
When the doctor at the firm told me, I was positive on Opiate, that song immediately came in my mind.
Didn't know, you can get positive after inhaling it by third hand accidentally.
Tool has been this good since the start? I really wish more people knew about Tool. Really good music will change your life.
These were the Green Jello days. Communal squathouse anarchist altmetal at its best.
@@G0thFarmer get a life shorty !
Supposed to be playing this on 2022 tour...looking forward to hearing it live!!!
Just saw it in Sacramento... It was amazing! Great setlist and one of the best shows I've ever seen.
They played in in Tulsa last Sunday EPIC!!!!!!
Played it in Phoenix, second song in the set. I heard they've been playing Sober on this tour also.
Tool has gotta be the greatest freaking band ever.
it is
this is the best Tool song ever made!
That's subjective but ok
@@bung20 i have done more research and it turns out "right in two" is their best song after all!
My husband and I’s song. We danced our first dance at our wedding to this song. Will forever be our song. Being from az Maynard would be hanging out at the same places as us so we met him a bunch of times. Never got the nerve to tell him this song is our song though. Still the best song.
first tool song I listened to when I was 21, that shit changed me lol long live the greatest band on earth
such an amazing ep and song
Opiate 2 I'm hyped
As cool as the art is, there's something about the original creepy priest puppet guy.
It can't compare to the original cover, nice but not what it should be
The old image is so strange. Wood wall in the background. Green and blue colors. Truly strange and mysterious.
The symbolism in the new image is very profound. .The tree/bush thing on the wall in the parabola video has it's branches set up in the same geometric positions... anyway. .I like the new artwork.

I found out that's an artwork from adi granova ..
Ever heard of reverse exorcism? It's when the devil asks the priest to exit the child's body
we cant talk about what happens in the vatican
@@thomasstith774 the pope just did lol
This is history
4:08 Love That Scream
I just sneezed at that point 😂
Love this new Opiate artwork.
This was made in 1992
@@erenibrahim4651 they have re released opiate
this is one of my favorite songs
Waiting for a Big Band cover version of this. It'd be perfect, and you know it!
Stay tuned for Brass Against to figure it out...
Well. TOOL themselves covered this song
and the only bands to make this song perfect are TOOL. Megadeth and Metallica would add an unnecessary solo and I don't know enough about Slayer or Anthrax to pass judgement
Best tool song...ever
This bass is insane
Who was at the second stage at lollapalooza. They weren't even on the main stage. Best Live concerts ever if you have seen them live; it's like seeing Jimi H in OUR time. Epic!!!
Love how the hidden track starts at 6:06.
My fave song atm. I get a new one every 3months or so.
*it's okay - to have a friend - until he pisses on your lighter...*
Easily the most relatable lyrics on this album...
satan.... satan.... satan .... satan.....
yea..thats where i draw the line
I know little. Lighters are unbearably nerveracking
They're cool but, bottoms up again Marty mcfly
I’ll never forget being in high school jamming this CD on a pair of rockford Fosgate, pair 15 inch woofers, long before anyone really knew who tool was
After hearing the remake today, I actually prefer it. What a fantastic band
Yeah... The musicians only got better with age. This band is something else.
Y'all really enjoy their remake more??
Wow. I came here to hear the original, & oh my god this one has the grit their remake is missing.
@@claudiasolomon1123 I gotta agree with you. Dont get me wrong, I liked the reimagining and it shows their evolution and it had a wider soundscape but I felt the guitar lacked bite and the drums were under mixed. This one is more in your face and viseral but I do like the middle section which shows their need to space out and experiment into more atmospheric sonics.
@@claudiasolomon1123 the dynamic range is compressed in the remake. Over-compression kills music.
Which? The cover
Aight pleebs.... nothing about this is new. Came out back in 1992. Happy you finally made it
Priest's looking dapper as always... This is damn good quality!
This is the first Tool song I heard. I was instantly in love.
