    I like the 19x better as I got bored with the black. And the 45 doesn't come with night sight like the 19x too. Front serration is not a big deal for me and I found the 19X without it more sexier. Just my own opinion. :)

    The Glock 45 balances so well and fits my hands just right. It has just enough “new” features to make me take the plunge and I am very satisfied with the purchase. I really hope they make a .357 Sig in this configuration. If anyone is on the fence about this Glock I would say definitely get one or two.

      I had a Glock 23 gen 4 before I purchased a Glock 45... I absolutely hated shooting my Glock 23... .40 is snappy but my main complaint was the small grip... I have wide palms and the full-size grip fits just right... couldn't be much happier with the purchase.

    I've had six Glocks, and I would pick the G45 over a G19 or a G17 for two reasons.
    Regarding the former, I cannot get a full purchase on a G19. I have large hands, but not extra-large (most of the time large gloves are too small and usually extra large gloves are too big). My pinky hangs partially off, and while I don't think that's a big deal shooting the pistol, it matters a little, and if someone was to wrestle for my gun, it wouldn't take much to defeat my pinky.
    As far as the G17 is concerned, I carry OWB, so a 4" barrel with a HIGH RIDING holster is about as long as I can keep concealed under a t-shirt. When you carry OWB, it's not hard to cant the pistol to conceal the grip. It's also more comfortable and quicker.
    So there you are, for those of us who want a better purchase and a little more concealability for OWB, the G45 is a good choice.

      I my self have a 17 and a 19 love them both I've been thinking about the 45. I have bug hands I'm about 6'1 280, but love my 19 it's my EDC as well my Taurus 740 on my ankle. You sir might be like asking you self so what and why would you care right. Well with my 19 I have my 17 magazine in it and there is a spacer to put on that. Go watch the glock store channel with lenny if you don't now he is very informative on glocks that's all they do. Now I'm not saying not to get the 45 cause I'm going to but I just didn't want you to think that the 19 or 17 are not good for you cause they have small grips. Theres always a solution to the small problems we have. If it makes sense at all. Sorry for the small rant I just didn't want people going off on you.

    I use the G45 as my duty pistol and I love it, I used to use a Gen5 G19 but it was just too small for my hands because I got massive hands. But I wanted a pistol that I could still use the same duty holster for and the G45 filled that role perfectly!

    Excellent vid, I couldn’t agree more with your evaluation of the 45.
    I have a 19X that I really love to shoot but if I didn’t already have it I’d grab a 45.
    The people that argue the point of added capacity over a 19 makes me giggle just about as much as the thought of them getting the guns backwards- neither point has actual merit as the ability to add a higher cap mag has existed since the release of the 19 and the fact that the 9mm cartridge really gains anything appreciable in that half inch of barrel.
    To me, as a buyer who was thinking of buying a full size model to replace one sold long ago, though unnecessary as I find the 19/23 can do anything that I asked of them, the X/45 fit the bill perfectly!
    Full sized handle with a balance that seems much improved to me. I like the camel toe on the X😁
    I’m one of the weirdos that liked the finger grooves, though a lack of them is no big deal.
    That said, the 1/2 circle on the front strap kept me from buying a gen 5 G19 so I’m glad that the 45 doesn’t have it and hope that it’s a predictor of the next generation.
    Front serrations look kinda neat but I have no real use for them and can only think that as gunk gets in them or the kydex that it’ll only help grind up the finish of the gun and interior of the holster.
    Thank you for a very detailed vid and please stay safe.

      1AbominAble1 the 45 and gen 5 19mos, 17mos and 34mos all with front serrations don’t have the grip cutout. It makes the grip very nice if I do say so.

    I just picked up a G45. I’m not a gun nerd, not that that’s bad to be, I just don’t get into all the minutia and the ford versus Chevy stuff. I have a gen 1 G17 that my grandpa carried as his duty weapon. Still shoots great and smooth. I wanted a new 9mm that was full-size or compact. Don’t laugh but I picked up a PT-111 Taurus it’s actually great but I wanted something a little more top tier and bigger.
    I picked up the 45 on the police special price of 412.00 at my local dealer. Out of the box it shoots great, I don’t really care about the front slide serrations or anything like that, I almost got the 19X but I didn’t see paying extra for the tacticool color. It’s easy to conceal the way I do off duty. Yes it’s a little longer in the grip but isn’t an issue for me. If you like glocks and want a 9mm that is versatile this is a great platform.
    My duty weapon is a .40 and it’s not much fun to carry, nor shoot and that’s another thing I get here is higher capacity which is always better if you get in a gunfight. Being in law enforcement doesn’t make me special I reference the fact because I always carry and I support citizens rights to lawfully possess and carry firearms. This weapon is good for both on and off duty, which is good if you are a cop, it’s also good for the citizen for concealment and it’s dependable like any glock should be. Also you get the higher capacity. Footnote for states that don’t allow for over 10. In California carrying off duty when personally owned I’m am also limited to 10. It’s not too big of a deal as my service weapon is only 12+1 anyway. That’s my .2......

    I think it's become quite clear Glock has listened to the customers regarding that half-moon on the front strap. The two newest releases since the Gen5 have already done away with the dumb thing. The 19 Gen5 we got for T&E and the edges where that half moon meets the flair on the mag well are actually sharp and cut into your finger. We took it for a ride at the range yesterday, and it forced every shooter to go to a two-finger style. When we got the gun, one mag came with the Pearce floor plate that is supposed to "fill in" the half-moon. Guessing another agency found the same issue and Glock either didn't notice that the floor plate had been changed, or less likely, they're offering a "fix". However, that seemed to make it worse for shooters with smaller hands.
    I'm guessing that with a Gen 6 release, that half moon will be gone for good...or at least another 20 years.

  • @Everyday_Railroading

    It's the balance of the pistol that makes it so appealing. I own the 19x and 45, they just feel well balanced and easy to shoot.

    • @gabrielbye9704
      @gabrielbye9704 3 года назад

      Which one is better. Do you carry either

    • @Everyday_Railroading
      @Everyday_Railroading 3 года назад

      @@gabrielbye9704 - Glock model 45 is better for a few reasons. The 19x isn't compatible with all Glock magazines because of the lip they put on the bottom front of the pistol. That alone makes the Model 45 superior, because of compatibility. The Model 45 has front slide serrations, the 19x doesn't. That may or may not matter to you. The 19x does come with Glock metal night sights, compared to the 45 that comes with the plastic sights that Glock puts on all of their pistols. The sights can always be replaced though. Everything else is pretty much the same. So, with all of that in mind. To me, the Model 45 is better, however, they feel the same in the hand and shoot pretty much the same. It's really just the compatibility of magazines the 45 offers compared to the 19x that has to have the correct base plates to work. You can definitely carry either one. Just be cautious with printing because you do have the 17 sized grip. I would much rather carry either one of these than a 17. I carry a 19 though. I have carried these, prefer my 19 though.

    I kind of want a G45 but since I already own a G19X that I really like and shoot well there’s really no point. I don’t open carry so the color of gun makes absolutely no difference to me. I have plenty of black guns and the 19X was a good addition to break up the monotony. In all reality the G45 is a different variant of the 19X. And let’s face it, some guys will just not buy a gun unless it’s all black and that’s the only reason they didn’t buy the 19X. At the end of the day the G45 is just another good 9mm option from Glock.

    All you gotta do is get that black paint stuff that you used to use in the military to paint on to your metal collar rank insignia when the subdued black finish wore off. That'll work fine on those slide release buttons, it'll keep 'em black!! You're welcome and no problem.

    Very good review! I love Glock’s many options. I own the 19x. And eight other Glocks. Haha. Fine firearms. The 19x is one of the finest pistols on the market. I personally love the FDE/Coyote/Tan and everything about the pistol. Amazing gun. I carry it quite often depending on where I am. The G17 frame on the 19 slide is perfect. I also shoot a G41 Longslide .45. Slide length indeed makes a huge difference in conceal-ability and time to present the pistol. I’d rather have a good grip on the gun over sight radius - that’s more important to me for the way I shoot.
    Front slide grip, like yourself, is not important to me - I don’t press check pistols either. Despite many training folks teaching this, I disagree with the practice. My 19x came with night sights but I understand the G45 civilian does not. Like you, I always add a set of nice night sights to my Glocks and trash those cheesy plastic things. I prefer Trijicon, three-dot green HD. Whatever works for you.
    I know your review is about the G45 and not the 19x but since I only have the 19x, this is what I can relate to. Your video and review is very good and that new G45 is going to be a winner for Glock for sure. The 19x is an amazing feeling and shooting pistol and I’m certain the G45 will be too!
    Liked ya Sig cap! I own a bunch of Sigs also. Haha. Love’em too!

    People confuse recoil and muzzle flip. They are not the same thing. The 19X should have less muzzle flip and than the 17 because it has a shorter slide in combination with the longer grip and therefore, at least the theory goes, there's less muzzle flip.

      @@norrisdillahuntjr4570 That hasn't been my experience with the 19X or 45. Shorter slide guns usually also have shorter grips, so in general you're probably correct. 19X and 45 are hybrid models, so I'd encourage you to compare them to 17s or 34s in the same generation. I've done so and noticed a *marginal* edge with the 45. Your results may vary.

    LEO for a rather large agency of 600 sworn since 2005. The entire time we have been issued the G35 long slide. I’ve never once heard someone complain of the long slide hindering them or being uncomfortable while seated in a patrol car. Typically, we prefer a longer sight radius and increased velocity and accuracy from a longer barrel. Duty holsters sit higher and offset from the body, so seated issues are mostly a concealed carry holster consideration not a uniformed cop consideration.
    With most of us carrying TLR1 lights mounted, which is flush with the G35, the holster would extend the same length even with a shorter slide like the G19, so it wouldn’t change anything.
    We are completely trained not to use the front end for press checks. If you want to press check, why wouldn’t you use the same part of the slide as you do to manipulate it in all scenarios - the rear serrations? No one with a tactical background or serious training uses front slide serrations for anything on any gun.
    So these two features lead me to doubt Glock designed this with LEO input.
    The one improvement on this model is the flared magwell without that cut out on the Gen5 that could induce mag insertion errors, or the weird lip added to the 19X for which I have no clue as to its purpose, other than a different type of potential mag insertion hindrances.

    • @jimhans1
      @jimhans1 5 лет назад +1

      Mrandher83 actually, the G45 was designed specifically for one LE Department.
      The department training staff played with the 19X, sent a proposal for changes to Glock, and a purchase order for 50,000 units, and bam we have the G45.
      That’s the same reason we have Glocks with a NY1 and NY2 trigger options.
      Having personally carried G17 and G21 models on patrol, I can say I’m looking forward to carrying my G45 on patrol. It fixes issues I’ve had with the 17/21 in Safariland and Bianchi duty holsters. I’m happy with it personally.

    • @bprice1892
      @bprice1892 5 лет назад +1

      Thats an ignorant statement to say that nobody with a tactical background or any serious training uses front serrations. Many well decorated trainers with years of experience use front serrations and many real life “operators” find them useful. Just two examples are Frank Proctor and John lovell.

    • @Mrandher83
      @Mrandher83 5 лет назад +1

      An agency ordered 50,000 of these huh? That’s nearly double the size of NYPD so clearly that’s not true. Again I doubt significant law enforcement input was given for the design.
      Who cares what two trainers do. That doesn’t make it logical no matter how great they may be in some aspects.
      In the reality of a gunfight, you will do what is muscle memory, and gripping the muzzle end is not the habit you want to acquire. Any RUclips personalities that are private firearms instructors and do muzzle end press checks are only displaying their inadequate fundamentals. Well trained agencies and tactical units cringe at the idea. Those with military only backgrounds are not always the best for handgun techniques. I have been in the military a long time both active and then the last 15 years in a reserve component. Very few military units do anything valuable with handguns. The military simply doesn’t prioritize them at all. But believe what you like, follow military doctrine and carry a gun with a manual safety and fmj rounds too, or a 1911 with nothing in the chamber. When it comes to the reverse concept in law enforcement where the pistol is the primary tool, and the long gun is actually the secondary, modern well trained agencies have far more merit with their methodology.
      I like the gun, I like Glocks in general. But serrations on the front and a shorter slide are just not what most officers would prefer.

    • @jimhans1
      @jimhans1 5 лет назад

      Mrandher83 it’s actually true! And it was NYPD, they don’t just buy 1 per sworn officer, just as most large departments don’t just buy one per either. Our department only has about 2,000 sworn personnel, but the last order we placed with Glock was for 4,300 handguns.
      And just because your department trains personnel differently doesn’t make it the best way to train either. Every department is different, and to an extent, they all train slightly differently. I’ve seen tons of instructors in civilian, military, and LE facilities train people to press check, it’s not used in any situations besides when gearing up either for start of shifts, or prior to deployments, in an active firefight, there is zero need to do a press check.

      It's a good gun. I'm a big Gen 5 fan. I like it and will use it mainly as a winter carry / range gun. I got it because it gives me the Glock 17 capacity and still fits my 19 holsters. As for the MOS guns, I'm just not a fan of their plate system. Id rather have a non-MOS milled and may send this one off at some point.
